"The Back Of The Grid Always Beckoned"

Luca Badoer, who raced for Minardi in 1995 and 1999, is standing in for the injured Felipe Massa at Ferrari, where he has been the test driver since 1998. Badoer is the most experienced Ferrari driver in history: he covers thousands of miles each year testing the Scuderia. Massa is predicted for be fit enough to race for Brazil in October, meaning Badoer has five Grande Prix to display the talent his former teams couldn't.Badoer's most memorable Grand Prix was the erratic 1999 European Grand Prix at Nürburgring in Nürburg, Germany. Badoer, and his teamate, Marc Gené, hauled their Minardis up to 4th and 7th respectively. With 13 laps remaining, however, Badoer's gearbox failed; a strong, point-scoring performance wasted. Fortunately, Gené rolled home in a points-scoring 6th position. Luca Badoer currently holds the record for 'Most Starts without a Point', a record he will mostly likely want to lose whilst fulfilling his dream racing at Ferrari. Good luck, Mr. Badoer! | |||
