i feel honoured to manage this great club

TONY MOWBRAY was paraded as the new Celtic manager on Wednesday morning and told the club’s supporters he feels immensely honoured to be taking up the position.

The former Celtic player was officially unveiled to a packed press conference at Celtic Park and talked at length about his hopes for the future. He then met hundreds of fans who had braved the rain to greet him at the stadium entrance.

A popular figure among the Celtic faithful, he spoke with sincerity as he outlined his vision. His main priority will be to bring the SPL title back to Paradise, but he pledged to entertain at the same time.

“First and foremost, I want to say that I’m delighted, elated and hugely honoured to be sitting here today,” the new Celtic boss said. “I can’t wait to get started.

“I played here for four years in the 1990s when the club wasn’t at its real heights. When I left, I was overwhelmed by the support the Celtic family gave me. I was engulfed by thousands of goodwill messages and it left me with a feeling of warmth.

“When this opportunity arose, I felt drawn towards it really. The more I explored it, the more it felt right. There’s an emotional and professional pull. It’s an honour to be the Celtic manager.

“The support, the history and the tradition of Celtic - that’s what I hold close to me as football values. I fell in love with football at a young age and now I’m at a club that has always tried to give supporters entertainment – score goals, win trophies and play with panache.

“It just felt right for me and for the last while Celtic have been speaking to West Brom. That’s culminated with my appointment and I’m looking forward to putting my stamp and philosophy on this team.

“I will try to give the supporters, who show huge commitment, something back. Hopefully, they can enjoy watching their team have success.

“I understand the demands of winning at Celtic. I want to bring silverware and carry on the tradition of success. I look forward to the challenge of European football as well.

“That’s a new challenge for me, but working in the Premiership taught me a lot about the finer detail of competing at the highest level. That was a big learning curve and hopefully that will help Celtic in the SPL and Europe.” ( taken from www.celticfc.net )
