What subjects did you study at school?
A Level: Physics, design and technology and art
GCSEs: Three separate sciences, and maths (did it a year early)

What qualifications do you need for your job?
A good design related degree, a quality portfolio and a really great attitude. To be honest the second two are more important than the first.

How much can I earn?
Starting salaries in our industry are good and the rewards are definitely out there for people who want to work hard.

What other careers can Maths and Science lead to?
When I was in school I also considered careers in sound engineering, software programming and product design. I reckon I would have used a fair bit of maths and science in all of those too!

I think there are a lot of jobs in the creative industries where, like mine, the main focus isn’t necessarily mathematic or scientific, but where extra knowledge in those areas can really help you excel and make great work.

What advice can you give someone who wants to do your job?
If you want to enter the digital design industry, you really need to keep on top of creative, visual and technological trends. Get to know the best links sites for seeing other great work from around the world, and check them as often as you can. Also, get to know all the forums and tutorial sites – there’s a big community of designers and developers out there sharing information and it’s great to get involved with it. Here’s some good one’s to look at:
