What subjects did you study at school?I took 9 GCSEs which included combined science, Maths, English language, English literature, French, Geography, Latin and Art. I went on to do 4 A-levels: Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry. What qualifications do you need for your job? I think a science or mathematics degree is crucial. Being able to think analytically is such an important skill, and definitely one you’ll gain by studying science and maths. How much can I earn? Around 20,000 to 35,000 pounds a year is the average. The real reward however is knowing that you are making a difference, and doing something you love at the same time. What other careers can Maths and Science lead to? The skills you learn with science and maths, like problem solving and thinking analytically , are handy for almost any career you choose. What advice can you give someone who wants to do your job? Get a good grounding in maths and science at school, no question. It is also helpful to increase your computer skills too, which is something that will come in useful for all sorts of careers, but definitely in this one! | |||
