 The 6 on 6 off system is easy to get used to, however if you stay awake too long it gets quite tiring. Most people get their own bunks on bigger subs however on smaller subs most junior rates 'hot bunk'.This is quite easy as one person is always on watch and you sleep in your own sleeping bag.
