Each abuse case is dealt with individually and the reporting member may or may not receive communication from us following their report. We are unable to enter into discussions and will not get directly involved in disputes between members. When a Bebo member is reported, we do not disclose the details of the member who reported them. Bebo has taken the issues of privacy and safety very seriously since its inception and was one of the first social networking sites to partner with organizations like wiredsafety.org to create safety tips on issues such as cyber bullying and online safety. We aim to keep our online Bebo community safe. Bebo is now working in collaboration with the newly formed law enforcement agency, CEOP (Child Exploitation & Online Protection Centre). Bebo has also signed up to the UK's Department for Education and Skills newly formed cyber-bullying task force http://www.dfes.gov.uk/bullying/. We recently introduced a new anti-bullying tool: Bebo users can preview material and comments posted to their personal pages by changing the settings under 'My Account', Email Preferences. This means that postings will not be shown on user's profile pages until they have accepted them. We have an ongoing safety strategy and further technological advances will be put in place in the forthcoming weeks to increase member safety. We fully encourage teachers, parents and children to have a dialogue (where possible) about what is posted online and how to act in a safe and appropriate manner online.
