A question for those who have the NA or NB model. I read somewhere that behind the seats you don't have a flat plastic barrier with three cubbies with doors ... but actually some 'useable' space. Is this true?I'm just curious as usual.

Hi Peter,I have owned both the MK1 and still own a MKII. Neither of them have any storage behind the seats except on the back parcel shelf. The area behind both seats is covered by carpet. I have had the carpet off once or twice for various jobs and behind the carpet is a metal sheet which covers the main bodyshell. Hope this helps. Jim Kirk would have been very disappointed!!!

| Thanks Tony. Someone must have been stretching the truth when they said they could get an overnight bag behind the seat in an NB but not in an NC. | |||

Well, it's like the MK3. You can probably get an overnight bag behind the seats on the parcel shelf, But you wouldn't be able to fold the roof down. It depends on how "they" were using the car.

Either that ot "they" are midgets and can have the seats fully forward!!!

| Ummm ... I don't think I'd put anything in the void where the roof folds down into. Should I have a parcel shelf? Coz I ain't ! Happen they had a meeting with the little folk ;-) | |||

At the risk of sounding smug, I have bought a custom made holdall which fits in the small recess behind the headrests. I will post a few pics just as soon as I can find some long thin clothes to put in it On a separate note, the tiny gap behind the seats in WD40 will soon contain a couple more blue LED strips which I bought this week in Austria, so no chance of storing anything in there now! Can't imagine anyone buying an MX-5 for the storage space anyway....

No probs Jim, I will sort some pics out when I get home. I'm in Austria until monday, and back out here again on the following friday for a long weekend, so that gives me a few days in between to get organised I have put blue LEDs under the front of the seats shining into the footwells and it looks really good (well, I think so anyway!) and I reckon 2 more somewhere in the back will finish it off nicely.

Well, I can't see a way of posting a pic directly here, but if anyone is interested I have added a couple of the fitted luggage to my photo gallery....
