What is Representation and What is Student Parliament?724 days ago

Representation of students by students is a right that everyone of us can demand, it forms the basis of change and therefore has a direct impact on the lives of students now and in the future, we are the ‘consumers’ of the education system, we pay fees, we have a right to have a say on what happens within our institution.

Student representation is core to the development and improvement of education in this country, it is vital that you have your say.

Student Parliament is one of the most innovative of representative bodies across any students' union in the UK, and it ensures that the views of students are effectively communicated to their lecturers and senior management of the Institution. Representation has become absolutely crucial as we increasingly and rapidly put in place very new methods and processes of learning and teaching.

Becoming a member of Student Parliament will not only allow you to voice your concerns about your education, but it will also allow you to enhance your own transferable skills which are becoming a must-have addition to your CV.

Anyone can become an MSP, there is no need to be elected or nominated. If you care about representation and want to take the issue into your own hands then follow the instructions below.

More information on Student Parliament and becoming an MSP is available to all students in a booklet from the Students Union office.
