Cornwall Double Gay Teen Suicide?

I have been informed that the Intercom Trust (search their website) is reporting not one, but two teenage gay male suicides in Falmouth, Cornwall, UK this August, 2008.

This, if true is truly tragic.

Nationally, gay teenagers are a four or five times more likely to attempt suicide than there heterosexual counterparts. Hardly surprising given the depth of homophobic bullying prevalent in schools & education establishments today, still blind-eyed in Cornwall by Cornish authorities...a continuing after effect of the loathsome Tory section 28.

Then there is online internet homophobic hate crime...
...hardly a day passes without my personally receiving threats of physical violence & abuse online (mostly instigated by homophobic Cornwall police conduct against me over the past four years).

Sadly, often this abuse comes from some 'gay'? people in Cornwall who are woefully ignorant of the real extent of homophobic practises in Cornwall and the history of institutional homophobic abuse of gay people carried out from within Cornwall authorities like Cornwall police & Cornwall County Hall.

Ive been an equality campaigner for a long time:-

The Cornwall County Council 'equality & diversity' committee is a farcical joke excluding independent lgbt persons as it does in favour of the forelock tugging 'Uriah Heap' like Intercom Trust...I have 'NO' time for an organisation like Intercom which 'claims' to help gay people, but actually in reality, ignores & marginalises those gay people (like Cornish youth, Peter Midwood) with first hand experience & knowledge of Cornwall police and other homophobic organisational abuses of gay people.

Intercom report the two recent teenage deaths in Falmouth were not related or seemingly connected too each incident. A scour of the local Cornwall media reveals nothing (hardly surprising given the local media complete lack of interest in homophobic incidents or institutional Cornish abuse by police & social services like that of Peter Midwood the former 15yr old gay homeless youth in Helston Cornwall in 2005).

The immediate thought of my friend who reported to me the tragic (if true?) Intercom story to me, was whether homophobic Cornwall police or the equally homophobic local Cornish authorities were in any way connected or to blame for the (alleged) suicide/death of these two alleged gay teenagers, and whether Intercom were doing their usual habit of blind-eyeing and ignoring institutional homophobic involvement & abuse of gay people in Cornwall.

that thought crossed my mind also.

Cornwall authorities removed funding & support from the only gay youth group in Cornwall back in 2005. I know from Cornish youth, Peter Midwood’s case, the entrenched homophobic attitudes, & practises of both Cornwall police officers & County Council services AGAINST gay teenagers are still thriving today in 2008.

Ones heart and sympathy must go out to the family and friends of these two alleged gay youth suicides in a county like Cornwall where gay people who 'dare to speak out' are often isolated, demonised & marginalised by just such homophobe appeasing organisations as the Intercom Trust.

In general, gay people are still victimised & suffer homophobic prejudice from the Cornwall, UK institutions and those simpering & fawning sycophantic groups like Intercom, which support this backdoor homophobic prejudice and simply continue to play lip service to gay equality issues.

It is for this reason many gay men, gay women & gay youth I know, will not be attending the Cornwall pseuudo 'diversity' event on the 23rd of August. Simply a political platform for traditionally homophobic organisations like Cornwall police & Cornwall County Council to perpetuate the myth of their 'not' (who are they kidding?) being homophobic, when the reality of experience of many gay people is that these Cornwall authority institutions are still DEEPLY HOMOPHOBIC organisations.

Gay teen suicide is a hidden problem by those in authority, who simply do not care about young gay people. Especially a problem in Cornwall!
