Some good posession in 2nd half but couldnt undo the 2 early goals when the defence was asleep. Naka didn't want to be there, Wilson and Naylor couldnt cross the road. Killen looked menacing when he came on. McGeady didn't impress much when he came on. One to forget unfortunately and hopefully rectify in next games. Lets hope there's not gonna be a recurrance of normal away form in Europe. 23/09/07 - Away v Hibs - 3-2 - The poor football continues. For once it was Big Boruc at fault which is never really an issue. Once again, defence in tatters with Doumbe being the best by a long shot. JVOH looked wrecked again after about 30 mins and Strachan didnt excercise any other attacking options till it was too late 27/09/07 - Away v Dundee (CIS Cup) - 1-2 - Artur Boruc picking up man of the match so obviously over his uncharacteristic blunders last week. Kennedy back in defence, good to see and Riordan on the starting line up. Still would prefer to see O'Dea making a start, as he is picking up confidence scoring with the reserves on Tuesday. Killen getting 2 in that same 7-1 win over ICT for the reserves. Hopefully will prove a good option on the bench 29/09/07 - Home v Dundee Utd - 3-0 - McDonald clinching a hat-trick and Celtic website Man of the Match. Strachans move to put McGeady on the right wing proved an excellent decision. celtic return to the top of the table on goal difference 5 goals to the good 03/10/07 - Home v AC Milan - 2-1 - Cracking result against holders. Marred somewhat by Milans keepers antics at the end. However, solid defensive performance, some good moves in mid field, and what's more a good result to bring us first points in group. 07/10/07 - Away v Gretna - 1-2 - Poor performance against bottom of table Gretna. Gretna looked the hungrier right throughout the game. Scored in first half with free kick. Again have to blame Boruc for positioning of wall and he didn't even attempt to get it. Still, didnt give up, and on 85 mins and 90 respectively we clinched it through goals from Killen and McDonald respectively. 3 tough points but 3 none the less. 20/10/07 - Away v Rangers - 3-0 - Terrible performance by the hoops. Rangers dominated with Ferguson controlling the game. Few chances early on but midfielders never turned up and defence asleep for two goals. Sno giving away a penalty for a clumsy tackle to give the huns the 3rd. Disaster... Things may pick up big time for Wed v Benfica in Portugal 24/10/07 - Away v Benfica (CL) - 1-0 Yet again, failing to pick up away points. Poor away form in CL continues. On the defence for a lot of the game, and Boruc and the woodwork saving us a couple of times. Yet, Strachan still insists on playing one up front??? 27/10/07 - Home v Motherwell - 3-0 Killen and McDonald start up front and pays dividends. Hatrick for McDonald and 3 easy points. 31/10/07 - Home v Hearts (CIS Cup) - 0-2 03/11/07 - Away v Kilmarnock 1-2 06/11/07 - Home v Benfica (CL) 1-0 Happy days. Great performance. MOTM in my opinion Aiden McGeady. Great goal and tormented Benfica all night 24/11/07 - Home v Aberdeen 3-0. Good focused performance. JVOH, McGeady and McDonald the scorers with McGeadys being the pick of the 3. 28/11/07 - Home v Shakhtar Donetsk - 2-1 What a night. Great atmosphere. Last minute winner by Donati. Celtics fate in their own hands now, just needing a draw next week at Milan 01/12/07 - Away v Hearts - 1-1 04/12/07 - Away v Milan 1-0 - Lost the tie, but thanks to Benfica beating Shakhtar, we qualify for knockout stages - Hail Hail 08/12/07 - Home v St Mirren - 1-1 - Went down 1-0 but great ball by Sno for goal. Excellent first touch by Riordan and great finish. 16/12/07 - Away v ICT - 3-2- Went from 2-0 up courtesy of JVOH to lose 3-2... Defensive shambles for all three goals, including one penalty. Roll on the transfer window till we get some solid defenders 22/12/07 - Home v Hibs - 1-0 26/12/07 - Away v Dundee United - 0-2 29/12/07 - Home v Gretna - 3-0 12/0108 - Home v Stirling Albion (Scottish Cup) - 3-0 Goals by Venegoor, McDonald and Nakamura on his return from injury with a man of the match performance 19/01/08 - Home v Kilmarnock - 1-0 Got the result but didnt make it look to easy. 3 points all the same 27/01/08 - Away v Falkirk - 0-1 - Great run by McDonald for the goal. Tough win but 3 points all the same 02/02/08 - Away v Kilmarnock (Scottish Cup) 1-5 Great performance and good goals. Just what we need in the run up to our Champions League clash against Barcelona on Feb 20th 10/02/08 - Away v Aberdeen - 1-5 Second smashing performance away from home. Team playing good solid football and look pure class at the same time. McGeady nabbed one himself before performing some wizadry to set up McDonalds second. Naka got the first and Robson came off the bench to score a Naka style free-kick with his first touch. 16/02/08 - Home v Hearts - 3-0 Hinkel grabs his first goal for the hoops, with McDonald and Venegoor getting the other two 20/02/08 - Home v Barcelona 2-3 - Promising start, going in front twice through Venegoor and Robson, but completely outclassed in second half 24/02/08 - Away v St. Mirren - 0-1 - Left it late but did it in style with Nakamura coming off the bench to score a trademark free kick in the 87th Minute 27/02/08 - Home v Inverness CT - 2-1 - Goals from McDonald and Samaras as Celtic get 3 more points 04/03/08 - Away v Barcelona (CL) 1-0 - 4-5-1 Formation yet again leads to defeat away from home and Celtic out of the Champions League 09/03/08 - Away v Aberdeen (SC) - 1-1 - Last gasp goal from JVOH earns us a replay at Celtic Park on Tuesday 18th March. Promising though that Aberdeen were on the back foot with Celtic hitting the woodwork on 4 occasions 18/03/08 - Home v Aberdeen (SC) 0-1 - Poor result for the Celts leaving them facing a tough challenge for any silverware this season 23/03/08 - Away v Gretna - 0-3 29/03/08 - Away v Rangers - 0-1 - Rangers scored against the run of play and shut up shop then to keep us from equalizing. Disappointing result, again with our top scorer on the bench??? 05/04/08 - Home v Motherwell - Another disappointing result, especially with Rangers dropping 2 points at Dundee. Strachan booed when he took McDonald off for Samaras 13/04/08 - Away v Motherwell - 1-4. 16/04/08 - Home v Rangers - 2-1 - Nakas 1st cancelled out by an equaliser by Novo. Savage atmosphere, missed penalty and a last minute winner from JVOH - Savage 19/04/08 - Home v Aberdeen 1-0 - Samaras headed home the only goal of the game on 56 mins to put Celtic back on top of the SPL 27/04/08 - Home v Rangers - 3-2 Great result, great atmosphere. Kept the head till the end and bet the huns 3-2 03/05/08 - Away v Hibs 1-2 Samaras fired us into the lead after McDonald equalised. We're back in the race..... Yeeehaw. Rangers drew on Sunday leaving us 4 clear at top and Rangers with 2 games in hand 11/05/08 - Home v Hibs - 2-0. Goals from McManus and McDonald brought back our lead at the top of the table 22/05/08 - Away v Dundee Utd - 0-1. Big JVOH scores on 22 mins CHAMPIONEES CHAMPIONEES. ARE WE ARE WE ARE WE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  !!!!
