A poem from Steph that I really liked660 giorni fa

Flying With The Angels ©

Gathering around
A tiny hospital bed,
are the faces of a grieving family
watching her fight.

The tuneless mechanical beeping
that is timing each minute,
is hooked up to the sick girl
and is in time with her frail heart.

She lies still with the tube down her throat,
she is too weak to move now,
so she just lies, eyes half closed,
but she still fights.

Unaware of the people in her room
she feels so lonely,
she asks God why her?
Or why anybody at all?

Her hollow breathing rebounds off the pristine walls
and she knows she is nearing the end,
but she refuses to dies alone
so she fights harder still.

There is a choll in the air
and the room gets colder,
the bones in her body are ice
and the pain is now unbearable.

She cries out for her mother,
"I cant do it much longer Mummy,"
"it hurts so much"
Her mother rushes to her side and whispers gently,
"Its okay Baby, I'm here, Everybody is here."
"Mummy"
"yeah baby?"
"i'm sorry I couldnt be everything you wanted me to be, but I tried..."
A tear slipped down her mothers cheek and she spoke hoarsely,
"you were everything I ever wanted and more, I'm so proud of you darling"
"I think its time to go now Mum, but I'm so scared"
"Dont be scared my little angel, you wont hurt much longer."
"I love you Mum, I love you so much"
"I love you too baby, but its time to give up the fight"

The life slips from her grasp,
before the sea of people ,
and the beeping of her life support turned into an endless note,
she was finally flying with the angels.

As the tears flowed freely from her mothers eyes,
the crowd of mourners looked on sympathetically
Watching the grieving mother cry for her lost baby
