Red Revolution: A Prelude to Revolution (A sneak peak)264 días hace

I was inspired by Claire's blog to post the begining of one of my books. This is a work in progress, the end result will be available on www.redrevolution-library.co.nr in a few months time. It begins in a terrifying alternate universe, in which Adolf Hitler won World War 2....

Red Revolution: A Prelude to Revolution.
Dresden, Third Reich, 2017.

The night was dark, the moon but a sliver of light on the infinite sea of black that was the starless sky. Hans Gabor ran through the darkest of Dresden’s allies. He had in his hand a Mauser pistol, and in his left hand, a suitcase. He had to get to the Gestapo headquarters, the information he had was of groundbreaking importance. He had been a loyal citizen of the Third Reich, following on from his family, who had all served in the Gestapo, ever since Adolf Hitler conquered the world after the Second World War, or the War of Freedom, as it was officially known by the government.
Hans was loyal. He followed the line of the government to the end. Although.... There were some disturbing tales... He tried to shut them out of his mind, but.... He had heard of mass slaughter of Jews, Russians, Slavs, and all sorts of others in the Third Reich.... But he had to ignore the tales. He could be at the business end of a rifle if he spoke out. Still, for now, he had to get this suitcase to the Gestapo headquarters.
He turned down another alley. Rain was pouring down, but his car had broken down, and since the beginning of troubles in Russia, the government had been diverting funding to the war effort rather than to public transport.
Colonel Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.... Hans spat. He hated the man. He was plotting to bring down everything the Fuhrer had worked for. He had to be killed, along with his supporters, and the traitor, President Hughes. Hans spat again. President Hughes, the man who was supposed to be ruling Britain for the Fuhrer, deserved to die as well. He had been... With the assistance of that old Jew, Albert Einstein... It was blood curdling, and horrifying at the same time.

Hans was angry, and fuelled by his anger. He was running faster than he’d ever run before. He was running out of time. He slipped in a puddle, and fell crashing down onto the soaking pavement. He cursed loudly, and tried to get up. He let out a groan of pain, and fell back down. His leg had given up on him again. He cursed loudly again, and rubbed his knee, trying to calm the screaming pain in it. He gave a gasp of pain as his heart leaped spasmodically in his chest. He fell back into the puddle, and lay there helpless. He had been running far too fast. The doctor had warned him, his heart was weak. He should have left the Gestapo. But he had been working on Hughes’ case for a while, and he had been given permission to continue in the Gestapo until he had finished the case. Now he had the information necessary, he was lying prone in an alley. Dresden was on the list, it only had...

A strange whooshing noise filled the air. Hans looked up, and saw a bright trail as something powered its way into Dresden. He groaned. He had been too late to save Dresden; he had been too late to save the Third Reich. There was a deafening explosion as night was turned to day. Hans let out a heart-rending moan as the rain clouds evaporated in the intense heat, and as he began to evaporate in the heat of a nuclear explosion.
