I started djing about 15 years ago doing road shows / weddings /parties as I was the roadie. I guess that’s the term used these days. So from there I went on to doing more club orientated work and held down 3 residencies in "the limelight", "Thompson’s garage" and "the parliament" for a few years. This was until I was spotted by Intelligence who were interested in managing and booking me all over Ireland which was better for me to get my name around the rest of the country. They only managed hardcore djs like xray ,binman ,sci and paddy frazer who all held residencies in the famous kellys. It was good to play with these guys at this stage of the game because they were massive and as I played banging house, I played every gig which was excellent training. I then took up the residency in exit 15 in the back room and as time went on the hardcore sound died a bit and I ended up in the main room as the main resident which I loved. After that I got a lot of good press in all the big magazines and bookings came in from all over the place from the mainland etc. At this point in my career I loved the music side of it anyway and managed 3 of the top underground record stores for years ( Streetdance records, Elite Records, Central Records) I thought I would move into the production end of it and went to London to produce some tracks. This has always been a special thing for me as I love to be creative with music and before long the tracks I was producing were being hammered by people like Tony De Vit, Steve Thomas ,Lisa Pin-Up etc, to name a few and they then started to sign them to their albums also which was a shock but great for my career. As time went on I started doing the Tuff Twins records with my musical partner Porl Young and we set up our own label and the first track we produced was Dirty Disco which was hammered by everybody, especially Judge Jules on radio 1 for three months solid. This lifted my profile to a different level and then that’s when the remixes started to pour in and also got to play Eden Ibiza through the success of that tune. We have remixed everyone from Atomic Kitten ,Vengaboys ,Ian Van Dahl, Martine Mccutheon etc to the harder stuff like Rachel auburn, Tripoli trax and so on .I also then got people like Lisa pin -up ,Anne savage ,Rachel auburn coming over to produce tracks together which is brilliant as the are so busy they don’t usually have time for that but we have done some good stuff together and I have signed records to lots of compilations all over the world, i.e.; America ,Australia, Japan ,Holland ,Spain to name a few. I personally give up the shop work eventually to concentrate on the production work as I just didn’t have enough time for both and I had worked in shops for nearly ten years so I done my bit at that end of the market. So I have now got 2 of my own studio set ups and produce every day which is better than going to London every other week which is what I did for 2 years probably ,but it was worth it and I am now doing loads of new good projects with various different people such as, Jessy from Belgium ,matt Darey, Anne savage, soraya Paul masterson to name a few. Starting the residency in enigma is also a great boost for me as I love the southern crowds and only really play the temple theatre now and again as a special guest which is good but I want to spread my own sound on a weekly basis and hopefully build up a good rapport with the punters who will return week after week for a great night out at the countries finest venue in my honest opinion. At this moment in time the sound that is working for us is the electroheadz sound. We have signed a deal last year with nukleuz records for 3 singles and have major support from judge Jules on radio 1 and most of the other big names in trance playing our records. We have this week just signed a second deal with electroheadz to kickin records with our new track” out of Asia” which has been hammered 5 weeks in a row by Jules and tried and tested in the first play which is twice for electroheadz this year, We have remixed this year alone Ian van Dahl ,the source, Nomad and pink for the USA and UK which is fantastic, plus quite a few other artists of lesser fame. 2005 was a great year for us as electroheadz with 3 tracks signed and heavy support from all the a listeners and also the micky modelle – the beach track played by Jules n Pearce for 16 weeks on radio 1 now getting a release on manifesto. Another new artist name for myself and Ryan Rafferty who produces with myself and James Everett on a daily basis is now called NIMROD with this years big track called my life also played on radio 1 for 15 weeks and now signed to nebula/virgin. name called dancing in the dark which has been the most requested track (on cool fm our main radio station ) in its history. We have now signed it to aatw/clubland and looking like the long awaited national crossover. Lots of mixes by dancing djs/dance assassins and the source on the album. It’s the 5th in the clubland series in Ireland I have produced and growing in strength really. . . | |||
