Hey family and friends!!!...thank yall so much for the kind emails, they really help. i miss you all so much. ive been here for a week now and things have been quite different than i thought. it honestly is a big culture shock, but not in the terms i was thinking. indian culture itself is normal to me but the poverty and quality of living is nothing i ever thought i would see. ive been asigned to serve in an area called Dwarka, the most dusty area in all the mission. we walk everywhere we go or catch a 'rickshaw' (a bike taxi). either way we usualy have to cover our mouths with a cloth. the people here are extremely nice and very welcoming. my first day we taught a few families and one guy that accepted baptism, so its very exciting already to see the gospel come into people's lifes. there are homeless people everywhere, living on the sides of the streets which are covered in trash piles and manuer. nothing here is really kept nice. everything seems to be falling apart but no one seems to mind. areas that i think are pretty poor turn out to be considered middle class. mostly the entire city lives in poverty with a nice house every now and then. there are no nice sections for living. in the midst of tents and shacks youll find a wealthy buisness owners house. its very painful to see the poor and the conditions they live in, but weve been told that the best thing we can do for them is spread the gospel. i miss a lot of things about home, including sane drivers and big macs. the indian food here actualy is just ok, some are good, but nothing really better than what i can get in houston. we cook most of the time or order food, delivery is free in all of india. there's no ovens in most of india so that eliminates a lot of dishes. my companion is pretty cool, and we live with another companionship in our apartment so its fine. our stake president is real cool, and so are the senior missionary couples. the stake president said we'll maybe have an island night sometime so i can show some of my culture, so hopefully that'll be soon. so in all things are fine, i miss you all heeps and cant wait to hear from you all. if yall can, send letters cause i dont get much time to email. thanks everyone, i will do my best and keep yall posted.much alofaz to you all!
