| More poll dancing… 28th February 2007 | 1001 giorni fa | ||
Another week and another poll and still the SNP are riding high! The poll, this time published by the Scotsman, has the SNP leading Labour by 5% on the constituency vote. Yet still, PM Tony Bliar (sic) reckons his Labour party are winning in the battle of ideas.I wonder what ideas these are. Perhaps he’s referring to the wee bitty I saw on Newsnight Scotland showing Andy Kerr and Cathy Jamieson beside Labour’s new poster campaign which says: ‘Hello SNP…Goodbye new Schools/Hospitals’. Is this supposed to be Labour’s trump card in the ideas game? It seems to me that they are only rehashing their tired old scare tactics that in the past has included wee gems like; the SNP will eat your first born! I am literally none the wiser as to what Labour’s ideas actually are. Is Tony referring to the new ‘idea’ of replacing Trident at a cost of £75bn or maybe he’s talking about Labour’s love affair with the discredited PFI system seeing hospitals and schools run for private profit. Whatever Big Tone’s going on aboot, it’s clear that Labour’s ideas are not resonating with the respondents to the Scotsman’s ICM poll. It’s even more clear that Labour’s poster would be more accurate if it read: ‘Hello SNP…Hello self-respect, self governance, a place on the global arena, more schools, more hospitals, more police, more jobs, more prosperity...’ | |||
