The term Iaid? refers to a specific style of kenjutsu that is concerned with the smooth, controlled movements of drawing the sword from its scabbard, striking or cutting an opponent, removing blood from the blade, and then replacing the sword in the scabbard. The linear motion and force applied to draw the sword from its scabbard results in slashes that are faster and stronger than ones realized with the sword already drawn.

The speed at which these techniques can be executed ? the initial strike in particular ? is such that when performed by a skilled user, it can prevent enemy shinobi from forming hand seals (and thus ninjutsu), by exploiting the small opening that these movements create. Combined with a mastery of the Body Flicker Technique, this makes users highly effective against most shinobi. The martial art, along with kenjutsu, is taught and passed down among generations within the Hayashi clan.

The user rapidly slashes the opponent with a sword, creating a strong force of chakra, which sends powerful shockwaves at all directions, that are capable of cutting through multiple opponents in quick succession.

Hayashi-Style Swiping Talons
Name: Hayashi-Style Swiping Talons (????????, Hayashi-Ry? Ky?da Kagidzume).
Type: Offensive, Short-range.
CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

Using a katana and a saya, the user performs a series of rapid slashes from a stationary position. Whilst the saya itself is not suitable for cutting, it serves to distract the opponent's sensory system as the solid strikes from the saya are more noticeable than a swift cut from the katana blade. The technique ends when the user sheaths their katana, as sound waves are produced that bounce off of the opponent's body, causing the many strikes that the they have sustained to take effect. The technique is said to be fast enough that it is impossible to escape once trapped within the barrage.

Flash
Name: Flash (??, Issen).
Type: Offensive, All ranges.

A swift attack where the user swings their sword at a target after coating it in chakra, releasing a sharp crescent of chakra in the arc that the blade was swung. The technique can be used once for a more condensed power, or in quick succession to launch a barrage of chakra arcs towards the opponent.

Hayashi-Style Dimensional Cut
Name: Hayashi-Style Dimensional Cut (????????, Hayashi-Ry? Jigen no Setsudan).
Type: Offensive, Defensive, Mid-range.
CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

The user imbues their sword with chakra, and then quickly performs a rapid sequence of cutting motions. Arcs of chakra are discharged with each motion, which cut through the air itself to create vacuums. Air is forced into these gaps instantly with enough pressure to tear apart almost anything trapped inside the vacuums. These arcs grow longer in size as they move away from the user, but eventually attenuate and disappear.

This technique can be used in a variety of ways; it can be performed at a range, sending forth a volley of razor-sharp slashes that are capable of deflecting oncoming ninja tools. It can also be used as a form of defense if the user performs cutting motions that create a small perimeter around their own body. This will not only defend the user from close-range attacks, but it can also deter opponents from attempting to attack.

When performed at a regular speed, the motions can clearly be seen by surrounding observers. However, if used at a much higher speed, the user will appear to be still and the area around them will seem blurred. This is because the user is moving incredibly faster than the speed at which the human eye processes images. Legend states that this technique is powerful enough to create rifts in numerous dimensions.

Cloud-Style Crescent Moon Beheading
Name: Cloud-Style Crescent Moon Beheading (???????, Kumo-Ry? Mikazukigiri).
Type: Offensive, Short-range.

The user swings their sword in a single, large, crescent moon-shaped arc, which occurs with such ferocious velocity that the technique can be employed in situations where only a very limited time to react is available. The swing can be used to counter attacks from multiple opponents simultaneously.

Cloud-Style Front Beheading
Name: Cloud-Style Front Beheading (?????, Kumo-Ry? Omotegiri).
Type: Offensive, Short-range.

The user swings their sword in a single quick and powerful cutting motion to attack an enemy in front of them.

Cloud-Style Reverse Beheading
Name: Cloud-Style Reverse Beheading (?????, Kumo-Ry? Uragiri).
Type: Offensive, Short-range.

The user does a powerful spin, generating the momentum needed to slash at any opponents behind them. The user can also utilize this spinning motion to trick an enemy that's in front of them. The enemy is fooled into thinking the user will attack them, but instead the user attacks the targets behind the user.

Cloud-Style Water Beheading
Name: Cloud-Style Water Beheading (?????, Kumo-Ry? Kumo-Ry? Mizugiri).
Type: Offensive, Short-range.
CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

The user first imbues their blade with water, before slashing in the direction of the desired enemy, resulting in the creation of large arcs of crashing waves that follow the trajectory of the previous swing. A skilled user of this technique is capable of surrounding their immediate area with a circular wall of water, deluging multiple targets even if they approach from numerous angles simultaneously.

CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

After performing the correct hand seals, the user charges lightning-natured chakra to their hands or feet. Whilst there is no visible shape-manipulation of the chakra, sparks are shown to accumulate around the area of the technique. When this jutsu is focused around the user's hands and feet, their strikes become considerably more powerful and can induce temporary paralysis to the area that the user hits.

Impact Body

Type: A-rank, Defensive, Short-range.
CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

Using Lightning Impact, the user channels an electrical current throughout their entire body. This technique can be used to defend the user from taijutsu, and is even capable of deflecting shuriken or ninja tools. Depending on how much chakra is used, it can also clash with Lightning jutsu of matching power, either overpowering the opponent or negating the opposing jutsu entirely.

Impact Sword
Name: Lightning Impact: Sword (?????, Raiko Shinto: Ken).
Type: A-rank, Offensive, Short-range.
CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

By flowing lightning chakra through a sword, the sharpness of the user's sword increases due to high-frequency vibrations passing through the blade. This allows the user to cut through materials that would usually be difficult to slice through. Due to the use of lightning chakra, this technique is capable of numbing the body of a target who has been stabbed or cut.

Thunder Falcon
Name: Lightning Impact: Thunder Falcon (???????, Hayabusa Rakurai).
Type: A-rank, Offensive, All ranges.
CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

By manipulating lightning chakra into their hand, the user expands their chakra into the form of a falcon. This can then be extended towards an opponent at fast speeds, sending an electrical current through whatever it makes contact with. The beast must remain connected to the user in order to remain materialized; severing this connection will cause the jutsu to dissipate.

Lightning Clone
Name: Lightning Release: Shadow Clone (?????, Raiton: Kage Bunshin).
Type: Offensive, Supplementary.

This technique allows the user to make a shadow clone infused with lightning. Because it is a shadow clone, it is able to perform jutsu and interact with the environment due to it having physical substance. If the clone is injured, it will revert to its natural lightning-state, at the same time electrocuting whatever it is touching.

Swirling Torrent Palm
Name: Swirling Torrent Palm (??????, Karyu Haizenhira).
Type: B-rank, Offensive, Mid-range.
Hand seals: Snake ? Ram ? Horse.
CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

This technique allows the user to diffuse a continuous jet of water from their hand to attack an opponent or disrupt an attack. The size and length of the water is dependent on the amount of chakra used and the level of skill the user possesses. As the water beam revolves when emitting from the user's hand, the technique has enough power to destroy rock and extinguish large fires.

Water Mummification Technique

CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

The user gathers water vapor from the air around the opponent and manifests it into liquid water. Using chakra, the water is controlled and shaped to constrict around the opponent's body, binding them in place. The target's arms and legs are locked in a position that resembles a mummified body. The user can also deluge the opponent by shaping water around their head.

Water Shuriken Technique
Name: Water Shuriken Technique (???????, Mizu Shuriken).
Type: C-rank, Offensive, Mid-range.

CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

The user manipulates water vapor from the air and shapes them into a shuriken form. The water shuriken are rotated and launched towards the opponent. Due to the shape and speed of rotation, these shuriken are capable of cutting through extremely dense materials, however they will return to liquid water if they lose rotation speed or clash with an object. The user can increase the size and number of the water shuriken if there is a large body of water available.

Water Encampment Wall
Name: Water Release: Water Encampment Wall (??????, Suiton: Suijinheki ).
Type: B-rank, Offensive, Short-range.
Hand seals: Tiger ? Snake ? Rat ? Snake ? Tiger.

This defensive technique creates a wall of water around the user. Enemy attacks are completely intercepted by a fence of water blown out from the mouth, and is raised from below with tremendous might. The water is expelled in the form of a circle around the user, and it makes for a defence without openings. It is also possible for the user to control the amount of water and duration at will.

The wall's strength and resistance change following the quantity of chakra poured down into the water, so a skilful shinobi will be able to build a sturdy one. Furthermore, because the field of vision is maintained even while defending, one can easily go on to the next move, which is a great advantage in combat. The wall can also be formed from a pre-existing water source.

Laser Circus

This technique creates several beams and shoots them at the enemy. First, a halo of bright energy spreads around the user's hands as this technique is activated, then the technique encircles the user's hand and from that the beams are shot out towards the enemy. The user is able to alter the beams direction after being shot, making it possible to strike multiple enemies with pinpoint accuracy, even bypassing hostages held in close proximity. The user can increase the number of beams to a great amount to pin down an enemy

Ball Lightning
Name: Storm Release: Ball Lightning Technique (?????, Ranton: Tama Inazuma).
Type: A-rank, Offensive, All ranges.
CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

The user creates several orbs of light that rotate around the user's body, and can be freely controlled to attack enemies. When an orb touches an opponent, it explodes into a flash, discharging Suiton-enhanced lightning within a short radius. When an opponent or area is hit by the explosion, it emits steam as the voltage of the explosion is comparable to the power of natural lightning itself.

Thunderclap
Name: Storm Release: Thunderclap (????, Ranton: Hekireki).
Type: B-rank, Supplementary, Short-range.
CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

The user emanates an extremely bright light directly from the body, engulfing the nearby area with a quick flash. Due to the sudden combination of Raiton and Suiton chakra that this technique requires, a loud crash of thunder is also created. The technique serves to lessen the opponent's senses; the flash of light causes temporary blindness, whereas the crash of thunder causes inaudibility.

Tears of the Thunder God
Name: Storm Release: Tears of the Thunder God (?????, Ranton: Raijin Namida).
Type: S-rank, Offensive, All-ranges.
CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

The user places a specific marking on the target through physical contact before using their chakra to initiate a natural storm. This marking works similar to a lightning rod; lightning from the storm will strike towards the marking instead of anywhere else. This makes the technique extremely dangerous, as lightning strikes within 1/1000th of a second and is fully capable of killing whoever is struck. The drawback of this technique is that it requires time to prepare, and the user must sacrifice a considerable amount of chakra in order to call forth a natural storm. However, this drawback can be negated if a storm is already present.

Summoning Technique (Falcons)
Name: Summoning Technique (?????, Kuchiyose no Jutsu).
Type: C-rank, Offensive, Defensive, Supplementary.

After performing the correct hand seals and supplying blood, the user can perform the summoning ritual of their natural animal affinity. Using a contract, the user is able to summon falcons to use for flight, communication or reconnaissance. Larger falcons can also be summoned for practical use in combat, such as swiping the opponent with their talons or carrying them into the air, rendering the target vulnerable to further attacks. Sabuto favors summoning his adult Barred Forest-Falcon (Micrastur ruficollis) for travel and combat.

Eyes of Yatagarasu
Name: Eyes of Yatagarasu (??????, Shisen no Yatagarasu).
CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

A Dojutsu Kekkei Genkai exclusive to the Hayashi Clan, named after the legendary three-legged crow Yatagarasu of Japanese mythology. It primarily awakens within one of the user's eyes, however it can be obtained in both when a certain degree of mastery has been achieved. The pupil of the selected eye will form a unique symbol that resembles a bird-of-prey upon activation. By using the Eyes of Yatagarasu, the user is able to perform a range of specialized Hayashi Clan techniques, as well as dispel high-level Genjutsu.

Sharp Sight
Name: Sharp Sight (???, Surudoi-kan).
CUSTOM TECHNIQUE

Using the Eyes of Yatagarasu, the visual perception of the user is amplified to mimic the range of a bird-of-prey. This allows the user to see distances beyond the human eye's range and in clear detail, enabling them to see accurately at any distance up to 304 meters. Although it is not useful in close-quarters combat, it can provide a worthy advantage over long-range and allows precise accuracy from afar.
