THE JD Set, Ireland’s leading unsigned band competition, touches down for two explosive heats at Trinity Rooms next month. Performing in front of a panel of judges comprised of music industry representatives in Limerick on Thursday March 19 will be Aortal, Neon Stars and Nick Carswell and the Elective Orchestra. The following night, Friday March 20, it will be Camoige Lovers, VIC and Roadrunner vying for a place in the final at Crawdaddy, Dublin on Thursday April 23. Legendary punk rocker Hugh Cornwell of The Stranglers will judge the final of The JD Set. “I am delighted to hear the quality of the JD Set entries has been really high this year. Ireland has a really vibrant music scene and it does not surprise me that there are so many exciting bands coming through,” said Cornwell. “It has always been very difficult for bands to make it in the music industry, which is why The JD Set is so worthwhile and gives bands a chance to play a live set in top live music venues and reach new audiences. I want to wish all the shortlisted bands the best of luck in the live heats and I am looking forward to judging the final,” he claimed. Entry to all The JD Set gigs will be free.
