I feel that this subject can be and is misconstrued by both countries. If you live in Canada you are subject to that countries laws, and if you live in the United States you are subject to that countries laws. But if you move to one of these countries from another country. It seems you can be subject to the countries laws you came from, and not so much the country you went to. Let's clarify this statement...If someone from the US moves to Iran or Iraq they are subject to that countries laws but if someone moves from Iran or Iraq to Canada or the US, it seems common conjecture that these people are only subject to their laws. This couldn't be further from the truth. Both our Canadian government and American governments need to take a hard look at what is happening in the Middle East with Canada and the US in the middle of their war, whether it be for religious continuity or from religious restraint doesn't matter. The crux of the matter is there should only be "Black and White" and no grey in this matter. Everyones definition of "Law" seems to change every day and reflects only what is happening at the time. Laws were instituted in our societies to better us as a human race not to punish us for being human, so Freud would have us believe. I beleive in "Capital" Punishment and I for one wish it would be re-instituted in our society. We need a wake-up call before our society does collapse from too much "Lawful" continuity. |
