Toiseach an Turas256 weeks ago

Well 2 months on since the boys were away at the Output Systems studio in Dundee recording the new E.P "Toiseach an Turas" and now it's ready for release . . . Exciting stuff :D

The launch gig will take place on Thursday, June 26th, at the Stornoway Woodlands centre. The launch gig is also the first date on the "Toiseach an Turas" (meaning beginning of the journey) tour of the Scottish Highlands and Islands, but all the details for that are either written in the last blog entry or can be found in the "Upcoming shows" section of this page or the myspace page (www.myspace.com/sunrise4) so I won't bore you with the details here.

"Toiseach an Turas" features 4 tracks, of which 2 are English and 2 in Gaelic, and showcases some of the best of the bands material. The CD will retail at 5 and will be available for purchase at any of the gigs on the tour and will also be available on the myspace. A couple of the local shops will kindly be selling it too and details about that will be posted once finalised.

The Stornoway Gazette said:

"Toiseach an Turas is one of the most interesting E.P's to come from the islands. Defiantly following its own path rather than focusing on bog-standard rock, Sunrise is proving itself to be the next generation that will keep Celtic Rock alive and growing."

"A promising debut that is riddled with tantalising hints at the talent yet to come from these boys and proves once and for all that looking to the west for new and original talent will always pay dividends"

The band have also been given praise from one of their greatest influences, Runrigs own Calum Macdonald says:

"It's good to see that the wonderful Lewis tradition of Gaelic rock and roll is alive and well in the capable hands of the inspirational Sunrise not Secular. They are young lads on a journey, with hearts full of melody and brye-loads of enthusiasm."

With the launch of the E.P just a few days away now it's easy to see that the boys are getting excited about it.

David said:
"It's great to finally be able to get the E.P out. Over the last couple of years we've been trying to develop our sound live to ensure that our performances are as tight and professional sounding as possible. We've now got to the stage where they are, so now with the E.P we fell that we've got a recording of us at our best. Everything we have has gone into the E.P, so to see it finally released will be brilliant"

Ryan says:
"Just like David said, it's amazing that the E.P is finally being released. We put so much work into writing and recording the songs, and it's just so cool to see that work paying off. It's been so much fun recording the E.P and I just hope that people enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it. The tour is going to be awesome too, it's going to be a completely new experience to all of us but I can't wait to hit the road and the guys all feel the same way"

The boys hope that as many of their fans as possible can make it along to their gigs on the tour and look forward to seeing you all.

That's it for now,
Cheers
