Mask Paradehace 46 días

Hi everyone :-]

Come and join us in the 2009 Port Nelson Mask Parade! The theme is One World: Global Creative Spirit.

Q-Youth, QYou!, NAGS, WAGS, MAGS and GALS are all coming together to take part in the mask parade this Friday!

This Wednesday at Q-Youth we're going to be making masks and other cool things for the Mask Parade which is this Friday - meeting in Montgomery car park at 4:30.

On Wednesday we need everyone to bring anything that might be useful - random art stuff, pens, paints, material, musical instruments, 'queer'ish songs on your iPod, masks, ANYTHING!

For those of you who can't make it this Wednesday at Q-Youth to make a mask, just come along on the day in your most bright and colorful or rainbow clothes. Bring a mask if you have one but if not we'll have spares to hand out to people.

We want to look amazing and maybe be front page material like NAGS were last year, so everyone please bring anything that might be good!

See you there :-]

BBQ - 27th Septemberhace 73 días

Kia ora

Q-Youth and Q-You invites you to attend our pot-luck BBQ on Sunday September 27th. Andy and Rose (our Exec Board co-Chair and Secretary) are hosting the event. This is an opportunity to meet with the queer community of Nelson/Tasman (both young and not so young) and will be the first shared event for our queer youth (Q-Youth) and adult queer community (Q-You).

We will also take the opportunity to get your ideas and involvement for this years Masked Parade. The parade is an annual event that kicks off the Nelson Arts Festival. Last year NAGS (Nayland Alliance of Gays and Straights) participated in the parade. It was great fun and NAGS got the cover of the Nelson Mail the next day. This year Q-Youth (including our 4 school based diversity groups) will be in the parade. We're hoping that QYou! will participate too!

This year's parade is appropriately themed 'One World - A Global Community'. We've already had some lively discussions at our Wednesday Q-Youth meetings about how to make the theme work for us... The pot-luck will be an awesome opportunity to discuss the parade and hopefully gather the creative energy and skills of our queer community.

So, come along. Please spread the word in your own circles (our email list is by no means exhaustive!)

What: Pot luck BBQ
Where: 12 Leach Place, Wakatu, Nelson
When: from 5pm on Sunday 27th September
Bring: BBQ fodder. We encourage alcohol-free socialising at our youth-adult events

If you get lost then you can call/text Andy on 027 345 3026 or Seb 021 333 138

Comment or get in contact if you have any questions :-]

RENT - the musical!hace 162 días

Hey Everyone!

After Q-Youth next week we are showing the movie RENT for both adults and youth. So if you need to organise to get picked up later or anything then do so! It will be finished before 9:30pm.

Some adults and youth will be singing the opening number 'Seasons of Love' before the movie starts so if any of you are interested in being involved in that then please reply and let me know. You'll be singing in a group of people and there are two rehearsals at The Indie from 5 to 7pm on this coming Sunday and Monday.

So that's Wednesday the 24th of June, 7pm at The Independent Theatre!

Thank you!
