| ABOUT THE GLOBAL ONE ARTISTS... Swingfly (USA) | 212 days ago | |||
| Eclectic hip-hop-electro-rock-pop wizkid Swingfly (a.k.a. Swing or Richie Pasta) grew up in the metropolis turbulence of New York, and has spent time in the salty Caribbean nations of Trinidad-Tobago and Panama. Swingfly travels effortlessly between straight-up hip hop, rock'n'roll anthems, smooth r'n'b and electro pop. He is an MC of the old school: He masters his hip hop essence, but loves the hooks of a smoking rock song. Once you're exposed, you're hooked. Swingfly will rhyme you into a state of bliss and beatbox you into oblivion, all the while melting your heart with infectious tunes. So no wonder that some of the hottest producers and artists have been knocking on his door for the last ten years. Since the 90's, he has jumped in and out of projects, worked with legends like Gordon Cyrus and Christian Falk as well as been a part of the revered, jazz-flavoured r'n'b collective Blacknuss Allstars. Swingfly has also lent his savoury rhymes to several hit songs. Whether it be the everlasting stomp-hit 'Hey Boy' from 2004's Teddybears collaboration, the swinging rock-rap smash 'Winner' (feat. Ebbot of Soundtrack Of Our Lives), the sweaty, swinging electro-hit 'Something's Got Me Started', or the warm Friday night anthem 'Singing That Melody', Swingfly has proved he doesn't just command the microphone – he owns both the airwaves and the charts. | ABOUT THE GLOBAL ONE ARTISTS... Nina Becker (Brazil) | 212 days ago | |||
| Nina Becker, the step daughter of the maestro Roberto Gnatali, started at a very young age singing jingles for advertisements and accompanying samba star, Zeca Pagodinho, as a backing vocal. Then she went to study art design and work as an art director in advertising films. After becoming one of the crooners at Orquestra Imperial – a big band from Rio which has reached a relative popularity in Brazil - Nina started seriously thinking about her own career. She released two informal singles and became more and more committed to the music. She also started a career as costume designer. The first show “Volte Sempre” was also her first collection. The show brought back old successes of Jorge Mautner and Dalva de Oliveira works by new composers of the local scene, like Renato Martins, Moreno Veloso and Quito Ribeiro. Looking at old things with a contemporary eye was the tonic of both of her works. Nina has been recording her first solo album produced by Miranda and Mauricio Tagliari. It brings her first compositions, partnerships with friends and - as always - some revivals of old classics which are already part of her life and career. Their debut album “Crazy 4 Hip-Hop” (2006) sold very well and songs like “Chinese Food” and “1983” have received many positive responses, helping the Mandarin Hip-Hop scene to grow in China. | ABOUT THE GLOBAL ONE ARTISTS... Jaime Jay (UK) | 212 days ago | |||
| Jay - Z described her as ‘a talented musician, and a cutie who knows what she’s talking about when it comes to her music’ at a party in New York, and her debut single ‘To Make You Feel Alright’ stormed charts in the UK, along with ‘Can’t Do It Like Me’. Jaime Jay was on her way to becoming a top music lawyer, before a conversation with her late Nan made her turn her attention to music. Jaime recalls “My Nan told me that I should always follow my heart and from having that first conversation with Jay-Z in New York to sitting on the sofa with her in Manchester I knew music was what I had to do.” And so the 26 year old ex-British baton champion set out to do what she loves and began penning songs and laying down raps. Currently in the studio working on new material and with the continued success of ‘To Make You Feel Alright’, and ‘Can’t Do It Like Me’, Jaime Jay looks set for big things in 2009. For the young girl who was brought up in Manchester’s infamous Openshaw Jaime Jay has certainly had some amazing highs in her young life and in the words of one of her favourite pop acts, Yazz, ‘the only way is up….Baby!’ You can see photos of Jaime Jay here http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai... and http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde... | ||||
