| What subjects did you study at school? A Level: Physics, Design and Technology, English language and Literature, AS Maths GCSEs: Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Design and Technology, Art, English language, English literature, French What qualifications do you need for your job? Degree level or equivalent experience in a related field. How much can I earn? Salaries depend upon public or commercial sector and the size of the broadcast network or networks you are responsible for. At a guess I would say between £30k to £60k. What other careers can Maths and Science lead to? They could lead to loads of careers - Broadcast Engineer (TV or Radio), Project Engineer (TV or Radio), Research & Development Engineer, Studio Manager (BBC speak for Sound Engineer), Outside Broadcast Sound Supervisor, Online Content Producer, Operations Assistant or even Presenter, as there are so many technology-based programs around now. What advice would you give to someone who wants to do your job? Other than a passion for music and radio, Maths and science give you a good base understanding for this type of work. Do not think that studying science and maths at A Level will pigeonhole you later on in life. They give you a great grounding and a better understanding of how the world works in many different areas. | |||
