	Phoenix nzyp was established in 2007 by Matua Jay Williams to advance and develop performing arts students at secondary school. Auditioning and selecting the best from every school. Phoenix NZYP was born. Alongside Jay were friends who also shared the same passion and love for young people and were also masters in the art form e.g Drama, Singing and Dancing. Throughout 2007 the focus was about building leaders and role models, for them to focus on getting better and excelling more then they would in a general school tution. Phoenix NZYP has performed in front of thousands of people not just in NZ. 2008 saw NZYP cross the ditch to Australia to perform for over 20 schools in the Gold Coast area. Experience was awesome but also inspirational to those who witnessed them perform. 2009 brings a new bred of era Events to date 2007 No names Play Released, Youth Town, 2008 Secondaries schools tour - Massey High, Waitakere Coolege, Botany College, Elim School, Manurewa High, Papatoe High, Henderson High 2008 Maidment Thearte, Sunset Pearls Hasting Tour, Ezikiel33 events, Corbans Estate, Gold Coast Tour, Pacifica Beats and Rockquest, Phoenix NZYP DVD/CD released. 	Higher Learning I've learned that, no matter what happens, how bad it seems today, life goes on, and it will be better tomorrow. I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles three things: a rainy day, the elderly, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. I've learned that, regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life. I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as making a "life.." I've learned that life sometimes gves you a second chance. I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back. I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you. But, if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others, your work and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you. I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I've learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone. People love that human touch--holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back. I've learned that I still have a lot to learn!!!!!

	Phoenix: A mythical bird that never dies, the phoenix flies far ahead to the front, always scanning the landscape and distant space. It represents our capacity for vision, for collecting sensory information about our environment and the events unfolding within it. The phoenix, with its great beauty, creates intense excitement and deathless inspiration. According to legend, the phoenix appears only in peaceful and prosperous times, hiding when there is trouble. It is therefore a sign of peace by its presence and at the same time a symbol of disharmony by its absence. Yet this prosperity symbol chooses, at the end of its long life, to deliberately immolate itself in the sacred fire in order that it might be born anew. The lesson here is that even in the midst of prosperity, we need a renewal stage, a recycling, an interruption of the status quo, a letting go of angels in order that archangels might appear. In life's trials and tribulations everyone experiences a time of challenge. This brings forth a time of thought and reflection, a time to renew your strength, mind and soul, re-focus your priorities and goals and step forward again into the world of the unknown. It is through these times that determine who we are in essence and help forge a steely resolve to face the world once more. The Phoenix will fly again this year!

	2007 and racism is still a topic of concern, interest, debate. Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if it was eliminated or is that really just a dream? It's 2007 and after wars, protests, deaths, sacrifices, blood shed, memorials.... we are still looking racism in the face and experiencing it everyday. How sad. How scary. How sad and scary it is that with all the past efforts to eliminate racism, it is still here. Were these past efforts done in vain? It's scary to think, what our children and our children's children and so forth will have to go through and experience, because of race....racism! What have or are the leaders of this "great country" doing to eliminate racism...nothing. It's obviously not a topic of concern. What if our current leaders were faced with racism everyday...hmmm, then I guess it would be a topic of concern. Where are the leaders of today who have a passion to end racism like Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, JFK, Jimmy Carter.....I don't know too many who will make the history books. It seems like the fire has fizzled... Yeah, there's Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton...but in the grand scheme of things they don't have the fervor of those in the past. That leaves it up to us to make a difference. Those who have been affected, those concerned, those who care about human rights. How far have we come to understanding and eliminating racism...not far. How sad. How scary. How unfortunate. How disappointing. How long a road we have to go. One lesson my mother taught me, "Baby, you belong to the human race!" That's what I'll instill in my children. I wish every mother could let their child know that that they belong to the human race!
