| WHAT A DAY ! Not only did i dress all out in Maori attire, but i screached like a bird to warn off enemies... as they would do in battle! ( i sounded more like a dying cat) lol I looked hilarious to say the least, together with my grass skirt and top, and my battle makeup on (rather looking like a beard) i was truly out of my comfort zone but once i had transformed into a Maori women i felt exhilirated and very powerfull.... it was the most SURREAL experience of my life, on an island dressed like that doing all kinds of mental, physical and agility testing challenges! I threw myself into them... the first test having to hold as much water as possibol in my mouth whilst running up and down a hill (very large hill) this was soo hard, but luckily i have quite a large mouth so i could hold allot of water lol! The second ... kind of like a game of hopscotch but allot harder as i had to remeber a sequence of moves and do them in the quikest time! I felt i done well and impressed the leader (Richard) , he told me he could tell that i have a big heart... this was very humbling )Then we were put through our paces in a number of agility tests, one where we had to learn a dance and do it for as long as we could but also doing the correct steps... it took all of us ages to grasp this dance but when we did we were off ... to my amazement i was the last one standing!!!! i couldnt believe it... considering i do no exercise hardly at home lol i was so impressed with myself )!At the end of the day we all done the HUkka dance... this was fantastic we looked bloomin hilarious! we actually looked like we were going to battle making all kinds of wierd noises and crazy faces... i know you lot will have a right laugh watching lol but this truly gave me a taste of Maori culture and i utterly enjoyed the experience the warriors who taught us were fantastic.... )Im really loving NZ at the mo and i really have made the best of freinds, this week has been tough but i still feel i can push myself further... so bring it on !!! Anyways guys im off as i have to dry my washing lol the first time ive done it since ive been here,( there bloody tons of it ) and there is no washing machine in our hostell so me and Emma just walked into another hotel and used theres... anyway i really must dash... loving all the comments guys keep it up and missing you all loots and lots | ||||

| Emma Blog - Hobbits Like Beer | 8 dni temu | |||
| having not seen the film. i probably was unable to fully appreciate the cult factor this sacred ground had to those avid fans. i apologize. if its any consolation the vista was superb. honestly though, you could look for miles in any direction and not see a single house. you cant get that ANYWHERE in England. i think my favorite had to be the party tree, really not, at the time living up to its name. there were a couple of dazed sheep mooching round casually. not so much a hardcore rave. but i was assured that in the film, Frodo and his mates, all had a laugh celebrating his 112th(!?) birthday, with a load of beers.... that's right lord of the ring novices, HOBBITS LIKE BEER. we also got to actually visit Hobbiton, which in all fairness was quite awesome. all the houses were set inside the hills, there was a lake, and for just bit you could pretend you were a bit of a giant. FUN FACT NUMBER ONE: they used indonesian drawfs as background hobbits throughout hobbiton. that's right, impress your friends with that one down the pub. Ian our tour guide made my day. polar opposite to me he has read the book 33 TIMES. along with writing numerous books of the making of the film and other movies like the lion the witch and the wardrobe. he was a completely legend.... doing what he loved as a hobby and getting paid to do it. plus his daughter thinks i'm great. so i kind of had to plug him. ha just kidding. in my audition video i said how i wanted to go see the lord of the rings set to "impress guys" as they all seem to love it. so next time you need some lord of the rings set trivia (preferably on hobbiton) IM YOUR GIRL. x | ||||

WHAT CAN I SAY.... CAN YOU BELIEVE IT WE WENT TO HOBBITON THE HOBBITS VILLAGE WHERE LORD OF THE RINGS WAS FILMED....... now you cant get better than that! I was amazed i stood in BILBO BAGGINS HOUSE!!!! this was extreme to say the least....lol we done a little easter egg hunt (well kind of) we all had to find a little charm that realtes to the film... mine was the silver leaf! Emma and i found ours almost at the same time then we were left waiting for the boys lol as you know men never look properly anyway haha in the end we decided to help them and i also found chris's sword lol It was a small pendant... thats why it was so difficult to see! After that we stood by the party tree.... and had a party... not really we just took some pics of the beautifull scenery and had a good chat with our tour guide Ian he was lovely... after that he let us play with the baby lambs... THEY WERE SO CUTE!!!!! This made my day because i love animals, i picked one up and it just fell asleep in my arms like a little baby! We all then decided to have a little singalong to baa baa black sheep, i could not stop laughing w3as such a funny random day ! Nz is truly a facinating place i never new Lord of the Rings was filmed there !!! TOP DAY ) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx | ||||

| IM BAAAAACK. lucky you, the people who read my dry blogs out of sheer loyalty. I’m still having an amazing time! i bet you must be bored with all that as well, but honestly it is awesome. our challenge today was by far the most intense. and honestly, at the time we were so absorbed into the Maori culture and the emphasis on honor the 1823 war etc etc, that we didn’t really realize that some of the challenges actually in fact made us look a bit ridiculous. picture me, in full traditional Maori attire, leap frogging over bits of wood.... and running up mountains with mouths full of water with like my "serious/determined" face scandalously on show..., but at the time everyone was so on edge, so pumped and determined to do well, we completely absorbed the culture and traditions of the island. (sounds cringe but i really think you had to be there). more than anything it became a complete mental battle, pushing through pain barriers. sweating. unattractive face poses... but god. you know when you sit back an cannot believe the situation you’re in?! I’m here in new Zealand looking over a blue sea in a natural heated pool, i just thought...shit im actually here. I’m doing and experiencing all these amazing things and completely growing up as a person.... I’ve experienced different cultures, people and challenges in this last week than i have my whole life. EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A GAP YEAR. travelling completely opens your eyes up to how ridiculous bickering in friendship groups is and comfy little social bubbles you made for yourself at home. GO OUT AND JUST DO IT!! make new friends, only rely on yourself.... you will realize how insignificant everything is when you go to a completely different country and see such a different way of doing things. i have met fantastic people for example the legends that are RAY AND SUZIE. they gave me a plug adapter AND a meal out. fish and chips. fantastic. they are also just your atypical stunningly cool travelers, taking it all in their stride but still managing to make it look effortless in the process. anyway I’m sidetracking. The basic round about point is that i love new Zealand. and that is it. | ||||
