What subjects did you study at school?
Triple science & maths at GCSE and then A-level physics and maths.

What knowledge do you need for your job?
Having a good understanding of maths and physics is more than helpful.

Other non-educational qualities essential for this career are patience, the ability to take control of a situation and being able to have a laugh even when you’ve been at it for hours on end.

How much can I earn?
That all depends on your experience and which route you decide to take. An assistant sound engineer can earn £150/day, whereas a good engineer could be earning £250/day. However if you go into sound design you could make upwards of £400/day!

What other careers can Maths and Science lead to?
Anything you can dream of. You could be designing the next spacecraft to take us further than ever before. Studying the Earth and the universe and discovering all their amazing secrets. Or inventing products that will make everyone’s lives easier and safer! There are no limits!

What advice can you give someone who wants to do your job?
Learn the skills, find a small local band or venue and gain the hands-on knowledge. Get your name out there! Let people know who you are and that you are the best engineer in town!
