A Night at Merchants......With The Trust93 Tage her

Hot on the heels of several successful events throughout the year the Killie Trust, in association with Killie's own Merchants Restaurant, is bringing you a night to remember on Friday 9th October. The Trust has been looking at ways to integrate with the local business community so a night of top quality food and entertainment means everyone is a winner.

Tickets are priced at a very reasonable £30 per person and any profits on the night will go to the Killie's Youth Development programme via the Fifty for the Future initiative. There won't be auctions or anything but there will be a small raffle with some excellent prizes. We fully expect this event to sell out very quickly so to avoid disappointment call Merchants on 01563 538966 and book your tickets now!

Artwork for this can be found in the Trust's Bebo Pictures.

Garry Hays Testimonial Dinner93 Tage her

The Trust have now received a letter from the secretary of Garry Hay's testimonial committee asking if we want to take a table at the upcoming dinner. The event takes place on Sunday 1st November in the Caprington Suite and the speakers are John Gahagan and Alan Kennedy and will be chaired by Tam Cowan. Ally McCoist will also be on hand to do the auction which will include unique mementoes of Garry's career.

We are throwing this open to all Trust members to see who wants to go. Dress will be lounge suits. We need at least four members to secure a table and the cost is £35 each. If you are a Trust member and would like to go then please contact me BEFORE Friday 25th September, but as early as possible.

Killie Trust Presents: Fans v Old Crocks162 Tage her

Kilmarnock Football Club and the Killie Trust are once again joining forces to
bring you the most hotly contested pre-season fixture since...last year. The
Killie Festival takes place on Sunday 9th August and the Fans v Old Crocks match
kicks off at 4pm...and you could be lining up against some of the stars of
yesteryear on the hallowed turf of Rugby Park.

Like last year the bidding will take place on killiefc.com's Auction Action
forum and there will be one squad place up for grabs in each 24 hour period
which started Wednesday 8th July with the goalkeeper position for team
one. There will be two teams of fans, one for each twenty minute half of the
match, therefore 22 places available...so plenty of chances to put a bid in to
strut your stuff.

On the day you will be required to turn up at 3:30pm (in fit and able
condition!) to change into and your kit which will be supplied, and returned, to
the club. You will of course have to bring your own boots, shinnies and talent.
Players will change in the home dressing room and, depending on injuries, play a
minimum of twenty minutes but possibly more at the discretion of the managers.

Please note well that on the day there could well be some transfer activity
prior to kick off with some players being involved in swap deals and having the
chance to play alongside the Old Crocks instead of against them. You will get to
play the position you paid for, just maybe for the other team. Manager Richmond
(that's me) for the Trust and Davie Sneddon for the Old Crocks will sort that
out on the day.

The stadium will be open for families and friends to watch the game and the
whole Killie squad will be there to get revenge for any on pitch abuse they got
last season...and they will be signing autographs in either the Park Suite or
the Caprington Suite after the match has concluded....that would be the actual
squad (and possibly the Old Crocks), not our lot! If we could get a volunteer to
film the event it would be most appreciated, please get in touch.

So that's it then, I'm sure I've probably forgotten something but feel free to
ask any questions about the event you like and I will try and get you an answer.
Hopefully we've ironed out any wee problems we came up against last year and
this year there will be no delays...happy bidding and best of luck...

The Killie Trust Say Relax!265 Tage her

The Killie Trust's annual 'Fifty for the Future' fund raiser this year will be a night to remember…or more to the point a decade to remember! It's time for all you old romantics to relive when you were new romantics as we transform the Park Hotel's Caprington Suite into a scene from a bygone era...an era that fashion forgot...and we want you to dress the part for the occasion. Recreate your favourite fashion faux pas and win yourself a fantastic prize!

There will be all the usual auctions and raffles, Killie cocktails and a buffet fit for the Betamax age thrown in...and we've even reduced the price this year to only £15 a head. You can order your tickets at the Park Hotel reception or over the phone by calling 01563 545999. Tickets are sold on an individual basis but if you order ten or more we will reserve you a table of your own. The disco kicks off at 7:30pm so look out your frilly shirts and rah-rah skirts and if you remember that it's hip to be square...you'll have the time of your life!

£2,000 BURSARY AVAILABLE FOR LOCAL GROUPS291 Tage her

The Killie Trust (Kilmarnock Supporters Society) has announced the second year of their community bursary scheme by making £2,000 available to local charities, community groups and other not-for-profit organisations. The football trust is inviting local organisations to apply for a share of the fund to support local community development initiatives and charitable projects in the Kilmarnock area.

This is the second year that The Killie Trust has run the bursary to assist with invaluable work being carried out in the community and last year they helped 14 good causes in the local area. The Trust received applications from a wide range of groups and the money helped purchase much needed equipment, staff support and organised days out for groups including 2nd Hurlford Brownies, 21st Ay rshire Cub Scout Group, Northwest Youth Project, New Farm Loch @ 40, Bellfield Royals 1999's and Fenwick Pre 5's.

The bursary is open to any non-profitable group or individual in the Kilmarnock area working for the better of the community; from local football teams, to youth groups and volunteer groups.

The Killie Trust has already played a massive part in saving the youth development system at Kilmarnock Football Club, however their aim is to invest not only in the club but also in the local community. The establishment of the community bursary was designed to contribute towards helping the many worthwhile causes and groups in the local area.

Barry Richmond, Chairman of The Killie Trust, said: "We’re thrilled to be able to offer the community bursary again this year as there are so many worthy projects in our local community that could benefit from the funding to help pay for materials and services that they might otherwise be unable to afford."

"The common perception among fans is that we are no more than a vehicle to generate funds for youth development, but nothing could be further from the truth. We are undertaking many initiatives as well as ‘Fifty for the Future’ and our Community Bursary should illustrate the Trust’s ability to benefit not only the club but the community as a whole."

"We’re looking forward to hearing from the local community on how our funding could help make a difference to their organisation. We want to encourage as many people as possible to apply; it’s our aim to help as many groups in the local area as possible."

Anyone wishing to apply on behalf of a local charity or community group for a share of the community bursary should email or send a letter outlining the amount requested, details of the group and what the money will be used for.

Please email your applications to Lisa Stevenson, marketingmanager@killietrust.org or by post to Lisa Stevenson, The Kilmarnock Supporters' Society Ltd. PO Box 26103, Kilmarnock, KA1 1YN.

Closing date for applications is Friday 3rd April 2009.

Please note that the Killie Trust Community Bursary is subject to terms and conditions.

Killie Trust AGM - Wednesday 7:30 - Park Hotel

Most of you will have got newsletters already, but for those who've opted out....

The Killie Trust would like to extend an invite to all Killie fans to our AGM which takes place on Wednesday night at 7:30pm for 8pm in the Park Hotel. This is a chance for all Killie fans to see what the Trust has been doing for the club and the community over the past year and for the Trust shareholders to discuss where the efforts will be concentrated in the year to come.

We've also invited Killie manager and Trust member Jim Jefferies along to talk to the fans present about current events at the club. There will be coffee and tea being served and Browning the Bakers has kindly donated some wee Killie Pies for the occasion (first come first served and they are not leftovers from Saturday!).

Your Club/Trust needs you!405 Tage her

Club or Trust – Trust or Club whatever order you like to put them in.

In the current state of the club despite their very limited finances we still hear frequent calls that various players are not good enough quality.

Well there is only one way (unless JJ pulls a real rabbit out of the hat) that Killie will have players of real quality in the team in the next few years, and that is if they develop them “in house” eg Boyd and Naismith.

To do this the club needs to maintain and develop its youth system against increasing competition not from the Old Firm (who are on a different planet anyway) but from the likes of St Mirren, Motherwell and even lower division teams.

Considering that Killie were close to having no youth system two to three years ago we’ve had a lucky escape. If it had not been for the efforts of concerned fans and the immediate facilities available through the Trust it is likely that the youth set up would be no more than a shadow of what we have now.

With the efforts of the fans through the organisation of the Trust its been possible to keep putting money in to the youth set up, but that in many ways is barely enough to stand still and we won’t progress unless we can do more.

To do more we need more people involved. We need more fans to become members, more fans to join the Fifty for the Future, more fans to join the Board and more fans to get involved at the sharp end to do the actual donkey work of running the Trust.

There's many things which need done or can be done so no one should consider there’s nothing they can do.

I’ll exclude myself from the next statement, as I’m not a member of the current Board.
There are a few guys putting hours of work in every week for the Trust and other supporter related activities and it would really make a difference to get a few more folk on board at the sharp end to spread the load.

To find out more come and speak to us in the Hotel on matchdays or get in touch via the web site contact form here. If you are not able to offer time or skills at this point at least sign up as a member and help us establish the Trust as a strong vehicle to bring the fans views and influence to bear on the Club.

We have a presence in the hotel at most home matches but we may not be there every time, as being dependent on volunteers we can’t guarantee to have somebody available every week.- maybe you could help us there.

The Trust is an organisation for the fans, we appreciate that often it appears that folk get very little for their subscription, in many ways we are trying to sell a “dream”, as are Trusts all over the country. The fans are the most important people in any club, though there are very few clubs where fans have any significant influence in the running of their clubs. That is what Trusts want to change, that is what we want at Killie, it will be a long hard road and we need your help to have any chance.

Please join the Trust

Please come to the AGM on 10 December 2008
