Saturday 5th December 2009 Assemble Hogganfeild Street Blackhill10:30 for 11am move off parade finish Royston hill, Royston.

Flute bands and Cairde Na hEireann support groups all in attendance also Hot Soup and sandwiches provided after the parade.

Band commemoration Function will be held later on at night more information to follow on this.

2009 - The Year of the band.Il y a 295 jours
 
Well as January comes to a close the band starts up for an exciting year ahead, this year being very important for the band as 2009 marks the 25th Anniversary Of Sean McIlvenna’s death and also we are also pleased to announce the 10th year of us being on the road!

Last Year:

Well firstly, What a year it has been! Last year was great for the band, we seen some great success in functions that we did across Scotland including new places such as Denny, Alloa and Livingston. Once again we traveled to Ireland on regular occasions visiting Belfast, Armagh and Bawnmore in particular for there fantastic festival in late August. Unfortunately late September, Stevie Lang, Our Colour Party Sergeant did pass away although our thoughts are with his family through these times.

10 Years On The Road!:

It’s a milestone for the band and a priveledge and its thanks to the members of the band past and present who have made this happen. We have been successful in many areas and also produced two CD’s and DVD’s over the years.

This year we will be attending more parades and functions than ever before and continuing to raise funds for the band and for Cairde na hEireann and ultimately raising the profile of Sean. The band aims to attend several new areas aswell as visiting places like Dunloy for the 25th Anniversary of Vols. Martin & Hogan.

New Members:

We have also had a great intake of new members young and old with the age limit being reduced to 13 with parents consent. We ARE looking for new members to be a part of the band so if interested in learning to play an instrument or working for the Republican Struggle then feel free to get in touch with Glasgow Best Band!

We Look forward to what is going to be a great year for the band and the memory of Sean, The Band wishes to thank everyone who follows us regularly and buys our merchandise and look forward to the traveling ahead.

A Band Update .... 6 Months On!Il y a 499 jours
 
July Already, It goes to show how quick that six months has progressed and its been a very exciting six months for the band which has seen us go from strength to strength throughout.

THE BAND:

We have taken part in many parades this year from the controversial civil rights march to commemorate Bloody Sunday to our long weekend touring Ireland at Easter. Easter this year was great and a big thanks to the area's who invited us; Bawnmore/Whitewell, Monaghan & Armagh to name a few, we all look forward to visiting again.

We have also had the great pleasure to do a variety of functions this year in places big and small. For the first time we visited the Cranhill Cairde which was a great night with new band "The Rising". Not to forget each month we have been visiting the horsemill Inn In Denny with great bands ranging from Shebeen, Clan Carney & Spirit of Freedom. Big Thanks to the organiser "Moose" and The locals who come to Denny its been a great few months im sure you will agree.

The Future:

Well Its only half the year and we have lots lots more to come over the next few months. We have our eyes on some great new venues for functions & theres some great parades lined up.

The Band Will be visiting Coatbridge on 19th July and also in August We will be going to the fantastic "Bawnmore Festival" Which runs from the Friday to Sunday Night with loads of live acts each night - Well Recommended!

Not to mention that we will be in attendance at this years Hungerstrike March In Derry In August aswell as going to the Annual James Larkin March In Liverpool In early October.

So Lots more to come, Once again thanks to everyone for there support over the past years and a special thanks to the members and ex members of the band as without the members working together we wouldn't be as we are.
