WINGSPAN <threemanwingspan>

"Everyone's favourite innuendo loving acoustic trio!"

Official Statement From The Wingspanhace 457 días

As I'm sure you have heard, rumours have been circulating that Tom Oldale has withdrawn himself from The Wingspan. The Wingspan would like to confirm this speculation and wish Tom well as he departs the band. The move is amicable and was due to musical differences; Mike and Al wished to continue playing music, Tom did not. The news means that we will no longer be officially known as 'Three Men Who, When Standing Side By Side, Have A Wingspan Of Over Twelve Feet'. We shall now be known simply as 'The Wingspan', or, if you wish, 'The Artists Formerly Known As The Three Man Wingspan'. There is an outstanding invitation for Tom to return or for him to collaborate with the band in the future. We remain brothers.

Thank you and keep spanning!

The Ballad Of Kyle Wellwoodhace 476 días

Not actually a ballad at all. It's all power chords. Based on myself and Tom as well as Kyle Wellwood, the Halo playing Maple Leaf failure.

Another piece of homework
For me to do
Guess I'll have to find
Another excuse
Parents want me to mow the grass
I'm gonna tell 'em to kiss my ass

CHORUS
Cos a new video game came out today
An FPS that will blow you away
It's rated 18 and it doesn't hold back
Plenty of zombies for you to attack
I'm halfway through, almost at the first boss
My grades are slipping with educational loss
Social life? I haven't got time
Cos I'm in a clan and playing online

Another angry teacher
On my case
Got to get this jerk
Out of my face
People telling me that gaming breeds hate
But look at Kyle Wellwood, he turned out great!

CHORUS
A new video game came out today
An FPS that will blow you away
It's rated 18 and it doesn't hold back
Plenty of zombies for you to attack
I'm halfway through, almost at the first boss
My grades are slipping with educational loss
Social life? I haven't got time
Cos I'm in a clan and playing online

Newspaper writers
Condemn the games
They say they're infecting
Young people's brains
People telling me that I'm a waster
But I just got a kill with the Spartan laser

CHORUS
A new video game came out today
An FPS that will blow you away
It's rated 18 and it doesn't hold back
Plenty of zombies for you to attack
I'm halfway through, almost at the first boss
My grades are slipping with educational loss
Social life? I haven't got time
Cos I'm in a clan and playing online

I Enjoy Several Sportshace 658 días

Re-make of the classic that we will all remember from the 80's, 'I Enjoy Several Sports' originally written and performed by 'The Immortal Hamsters' feat. Alex Lee From The Wingspan.

G....................C
Hole In One, what a shot
G..........................D
I'm 3 under par, what've you got?

100 meter sprint, I’m up front
He tries to take over, give him a shunt.

Aced the serve, grand slam
Who’s plays for Britain? Anyone can.

Long jump, can’t be hard
had a go, couldn’t make a yard.

Am..................E
But I enjoy several sports
G ...................C..................D
Be an athlete, like I was taught.
Am..........................E
I’m going to take lots of speed
G.....................C................
 .D
And hope that I don’t get caught!

Fight a guy, looks pretty hard
Tried to jump, back in my car / Wish I had a better mouthguard

Bowls a strike, 10 pins down
I’m just dreaming, still in my dressing gown.

Throws a spin, is it hit for six?
Umpire says “foul“, ref’s are dicks.

Hammer throw, into the air
goes three meters, I don’t care.

Am..................E
But I enjoy several sports
G ...................C..................D
Be an athlete, like I was taught.
Am..........................E
I’m going to take lots of speed
G.....................C................
 .D
And hope that I don’t get caught!

The Wingspan will be recording the heart-warming 'One hit wonder', in the very near future.
Many Thanks,
Wingspan Member - Alex Lee.

Lyrics For 'Joe Hughes' hace 668 días

To the tune of 'Joe Rey', by Fountains Of Wayne and originally
written by Chris Collingwood. Original music/lyrics can be
found here: http://tinyurl.com/28jtqn
Wingspan's lyrical version by Michael Laskey.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joe Hughes, have you heard the news?
Gone and gotten himself new shoes
That he thought
He thought that they would seduce her.

Joe Hughes, gone for a cruise
With some girl from college and a six pack of booze
And you know
You know that he's just gonna use her.

Joe Hughes, he's not so pretty
I can't understand why he's so in demand
He stays out late in the city sometimes,
sometimes, sometimes.

Joe Hughes, smokes for three
Walks like a gangster and it's easy to see
He's cool. Cool, cool, cooler than I am.
He coos what I couldn't coo
Got seventeen different girls on the go that he swooned
He swooned them by being a crooner

Joe Hughes, he's not so pretty
I can't understand why he's so in demand
He stays out late in the city sometimes,
sometimes, sometimes.

Joe Hughes, he's not so pretty
I can't understand why he's so in demand
He stays out late in the city sometimes,
sometimes, sometimes.

Joe Hughes, have you heard the news?
Gone and gotten himself new shoes
That he thought
He thought that they would seduce her.
He thought that they would seduce her.
He was right, those shoes did seduce her.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"This is a Fountains Of Wayne song about a real person called
Joe Rey, who is a friend of the band. Mr Rey was known to be
a party animal and had a way with woman, whilst also being a
stand up guy worthy of friendship. It seemed logical for me to
adapt this song for the friend of The Wingspan, Joe Hughes,
who is effectively the same character. Mr Hughes, this one is
for you!" - Michael Laskey

N.B. -
This song is yet to be recorded by the Wingspan or rehearsed
all three members.
