ATFS's Return244 dni temu

Hey Everyone,

You may have seen the secret coded message Odie has put on the Wiki recently. I have spoken to Odie and because Spoony, Garfield & Odie all now work at Triple M (in different roles) it may be possible to continue the ATFS podcasts as an internet only special!

But.... We need your support - Odie says they need a strong fan base if the ATFS return is going to go ahead. Spoony specially made this a point, that it should only be done with strong fan support. So this is what you need to do - on the fan club we have a nice new poll - located at the top left above the naviagation controls on every single page (so you can't miss it) asking the simple question - Would you like ATFS to return?

We need you all to vote - and tell your friends who listened to the show, but who are not a part of the fan club to vote (you don't have to sign up or anything to vote). Vote at http://spoonmanfanclub.co.cc/

Another possible aspect to the show may be live video streaming of it - stay tuned for that!

I'll send out more information when I get it - just get your vote in!

Thanks Everyone - you all rock!

Happy 1st Birthday Forking Spoonman Fan Club/Spoonfan Wiki316 dni temu

It was this day (27th of January) in 2008 that the Myspace, Bebo and Facebook Forking Spoonman Fan Clubs were first started by Myself and Pikelet. Since then we've got over 300 members on Facebook and a Similar number on Myspace and nearly 40 members on Bebo so we'd like to say thank you to everyone who joined and contributed to it. It's a shame we can't celebrate with Spoony on the air about it - but we've got the Wiki site as a memory and place where we can come together and remember. Also throughout the year we'll do little online events here and there - so keep watching this space!

Happy Birthday To Us!

Spoonman's Axing! :(376 dni temu

Spoonman silenced as Triple M wields axe
27 Nov 2008

Brian Carlton - The Spoonman no more
Of all the cuts that Triple M has made as it tries to remake itself, perhaps the deepest is The Spoonman. Last night was his last shift. More's the pity. Networked across Triple M stations on the eastern seaboard, the Spoonman was a “twice” bold move by the Triple M of old in a quest to explore new realms in the minds of listeners who had matured with the brand.

“Twice” bold? The program was first born as a pioneer of “FM Talk” a decade ago only to be summarily dumped a week before the ratings showed a significant audience increase – much to the disappointment of Brian Carlton aka The Spoonman. The nickname expressed his on-air persona as a stirrer.

All was forgiven in 2005 when the show was reinstated, perhaps as a foil for the emerging vega which promised to speak to a 40+ audience. Austereo program supremo, Guy Dobson said at the time, "The Spoonman left us years ago to complete a 4 year course on the merits of Etruscan pottery in today’s artworld. The course has finished and he is now a qualified Art Historian. In his spare time he has decided to do some radio and we're happy to say he has exercised the ‘right of return’ clause in his old contract.”

Whilst never reaching the heights of night-time talk shows on stations such as 2GB and 3AW, the Spoonman has done okay. According to Carlton, management acknowledged as much - instead citing financial realities as the reason for the show’s axing.

While Carlton himself wasn’t pulling the mega-bucks of breakfast shift stars, his show required the services of two producers. Now those producers, Garfield and Odie will be seconded to the new breakfast shift announced a few days ago featuring Sami Lukis and Phil O’Niel. Breakfast is where Triple M will concentrate its resources until it re-establishes itself – particularly in Sydney – as the FM force it once was.

Carlton, who was once PD of 2GB, was taken by surprise at the axing, and is considering his future.

BRISBANE LISTENERS - PLEASE READ!464 dni temu

Hey Brisbane Listeners,

As we know Daylight savings is coming up soon and that means most of the programming on Triple M will be delayed because of the fact that it's networked from Sydney and Melbourne.

In previous years Spoony has been caught in this delay trap meaning that it's not possible to call in and that E-Mails and SMSs come in 1hr late.

This year because there is no programming directly before the show (except for the fill in prerecorded Cold 30) we may have more of a chance of getting the program moved to 9-12 (while still 10-1 in the other states).

To do this though we need to Let Triple M Brisbane management know that we want the program live. We all know that Spoony wants it because he doesn't exactly want to lose 1/3 of his callers over a time issue so this is what you need to do.

During Office Hours (9am-5pm) ring the Triple M Brisbane reception on: (07) 3361 0104 and ask to speak to the Program Director (Rex Morris) and politely ask him if he will think about moving Spoony to 9pm-12am so that he's live and we can call him. If enough people lobby then we might see some action because it's a relatively simple move unlike in previous years when Paul Murray was on beforehand.

Thank you very much and good luck lobbying!

From Garfield: William found and well467 dni temu

Hey all,

I know everyone has been really worried about William but i got a phone call from the Broadmedow police today saying he is safe and sound. They told me he was at a friends place and this morning, arrived at the police station and all was well.

I'm sure we will have more news tonight, so listen in from 10pm, but for now we know William is safe and sound.

ATTENTION MELBOURNE! VERY IMPORTANT468 dni temu

As listeners to the Spoonman show you would all be well aware of the regular caller to the show, William. On Tuesday night the 26th of August. I received a distressing call from Williams mother Annette informing us that as of Monday the 25th of August around the 2pm mark, William had gone missing.

According to Annette, William was on his way to check the bank account and kick the footy around but hasn't been seen since. He is very responsible young man and always informs his mother of his whereabouts. As you may very well have already ascertained. Annette, Spoony, Garfield and myself are extremely worried about William as this is totally out of character.

William is around 25 years of age, standing at a height of 5ft 2-3". He has brown curly hair, was last seen wearing a red and black Holden jacket, grey pants with white stripes and black Nike football boots. He was also carrying a Yellow football with him.

For reasons that I can't disclose right now for his privacy reasons, William may very well be upset because of allegations made towards him. So he might be frightened. If you see him please let him know that everything is ok and we are all very worried about him.

Williams last known whereabouts were in the suburb of Broadmeadows and its surrounding suburbs.

If any of you have any information please get in contact with the police, send Spoony, Garfield or myself an email as we are all very, VERY concerned for our beloved William.

Thanks for your help.

Regards.

From the Desk of Odie - What about Spoonman?523 dni temu

I just read this article on the Daily Telegraph web page and was a bit annoyed that there was no mention of the great one at all.

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegrap...

Leave a comment and tell her to switch over to Spoony if she wants to hear sensible "educational" radio on the FM Band.

RE: Spoonman No Longer Broadcasting To Melbourne On Monday554 dni temu

It Seems That The Spoonman Is No Longer Going To Be Broadcasting To Melbourne On Monday Nights Because There Is A Brand New Show Called "The Man Show" Hosted By Tony MoClair (The Guy Who Did The DJ Domm Podcast) From 9-11pm Every Monday.

This Seems Sad As Now Melbourne Will Only Get 3 Nights Of Spoonman A Week and 3 and 1/2 Nights A Week For Sydney and Brisbane Due To The NRL Football Broadcast.

This Seems Quite Sad For Melbourne Listeners And For Brisbane And Sydney Listeners Who Stream Melbourne On Monday Nights To Avoid The NRL!

*UPDATE* "the man show, now called man united is now on in 2mmm and 4mmm now, 9:20 to 11:20. Spoonman is not on mondays, but Tuesday to Friday 10pm to 1am.
