"TOKYO BASS EXCHANGE EP OUT NOW ON BEATPORT!!!"
| ||||
| [MRR002] - EMOTIQUON - Tokyo Bass Exchange EP OUT NOW!!! | hace 90 días | |||
| RELEASE DATE: 27th August 2009 BEATPORT EXCLUSIVE FOR 4 WEEKS! Debut EP re-release from synthesizer-crazed duo Mr Dimensional & Mr Mechanoid. The music on this EP marks the early experimental days of Emotiquon as they were developing their style to incorporate electro, old skool rave, idm and dub! Since recording the tracks on this EP, the duo have remixed Heaven 17, Shitdisco & Enter Shikari, and have released their synthpop anthem “Run Faster” on Ninthwave Records. Emotiquon have performed live alongside Grand National, We Smoke Fags, Modifier, Satellite Dub and I Am Chemist. They are currently mastering their debut album “Press And Listen” for release on Microrave Records at the end of 2009. Tokyo Bass Exchange definitely has a "punk ethic". At the time of recording they were both working as bus drivers in Glasgow, which is how the duo met. With a shared love of synthesizers, 80's and 90's dance music and obscure television comedy series, their early work was unpredictable and raw! Published By Copyright Control. The Copyright In This Sound Recording Is Owned By Microrave Records. Written & Recorded November 2006. Re-Mastered July 2009. GET IT HERE: https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/... | July Podcast: 2 HOUR SPECIAL - RSI Radio Show with guest DJs Marcel Heese and Voltergeist! | hace 146 días | |||
| TRACKLIST @ http://rsiradio.blogspot.com/ Written by Kenny Redstar, host of RSI Radio: "Guys! Got an absolute stormer of a show lined up this week, well if you're into fresh underground techno that is! On the warm up we've got Voltergeist. A fellow Ayrshire lad who's been making electronic music for 15 years and now runs his own label, Microrave Records. He managed to get some attention with a track featured on Future Music magazine back in July 1998, alongside Autechre, Dave Angel, Kevin Saunderson and Funk D’ Void. He developed his live performance skills by playing at numerous Student Unions and clubs around Glasgow and Edinburgh. In 2003 he met Emotiquon co-writer James Rehill and together they went on to remix artists such as Heaven 17, Enter Shikari & Shitdisco. The music of Voltergeist is inspired by his love of deep house, abstract electronica, minimal techno, and heavy “blissed-out” dub music. Living in the heart of the Ayrshire countryside is also a major inspiration, surrounded by beautiful woodland waterfalls, rolling hills, and dramatic sunsets on the West Coast over the Isle of Arran. Sound good? You'd better believe it! http://www.myspace.com/thevoltergeist (Get exclusive free remixes and tracks) - http://www.ilike.com/artist/Voltergeist When I was arranging Smear's mix for the radio a while back he mentioned to me that he knew Marcel Heese and he'd be keen to do an exclusive for us too. Now, I know RSI is really all about local DJ mixes but I felt I couldn't pass up the opportunity and I have to say, the mix is pretty phenomenal. Marcel Heese is a resident DJ at the now legendary German club, Tresor. He's an avid fan of Detroit, Chicago, Dub Techno, Ambient, Noise, Industrial, Breakcore and Dubstep to name a few and his current sets are an amalgamation of all those genres but in spite of such diversity he manages to keep them smooth and congruent. In April 2008 Marcel became part of the prestigious Tresor Headquarters team, besides playing in Germany he has also visited a few foreign clubs in Poland and Slovenia. His current favourite labels and artists are: Downwards, Counterbalance, Axis, Warp, Tresor, Sähkö, Token, Transmat, FXHE, Basic Channel/Maurizio, Mojuba, Tectonic, Redshape, Bitstream, Robert Hood, Planetary Assault Systems, Jamal Moss aka Hieroglyphic Being, Drexciya, Counterpart, Deepchord, Lerosa, Theo Parrish, Sleeparchive, Ostgut Ton, Sandwell District, Ancient Methods, 2562, Martyn, Vidab. Influences of all those can be heard in Marcel’s exclusive mix for Leith FM, he's chilled out a bit recently, decreased his BPM, adding to increased power in the groove. http://www.myspace.com/fac303 TUNE IN AT 11PM EVERY FRIDAY - http://www.leithfm.co.uk/listen/ or in the Edinburgh area on yer taxi driver's tranny at 98.8FM" GET THE MICRORAVE RECORDS PODCAST: iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/M... | Grand National - Cut By The Brakes: REMIXED out NOW on iTunes (UK & EUROPE ONLY)!!! | hace 181 días | |||
| Yup, that's the 8 week Beatport exclusive finished, done and dusted... The price of the 5 track single on iTunes is £3.95 (as opposed to the £8.95 it was on Beatport) which is MUCH more credit-crunch friendly... The Beatport exclusivity contract works well for promotion, but would work much better if there weren't the irritating territory restrictions on the release (similarly for iTunes). These restrictions are simply due to the cost of purchasing a worldwide license from Sunday Best... From now on, all Microrave Records releases will be available to purchase digitally in ANY country. And they'll always be up on Beatport months before the iTunes releases... For £3.95 you get the original track, and 4 completely different interpretations (featuring Microrave artists Modifier and Voltergeist, Ministry Of Sound darlings The Japanese Popstars, and remix scenesters Emotiquon) So spend your beer money on a deliciously legal download of the new Grand National single right now! | Little Rock & Voltergeist: May "Radiomagnetic Re-Run" Session 2009 | hace 204 días | |||
| Hey Microravers! Sorry for the delay in getting this month's podcast out. I've been pretty busy recently and I've had difficulty getting anything done on time since my MacBook exploded last month! The following show was originally recorded on 13th February 2009 LIVE at the Radiomagnetic.com studios, for the weekly Little Rock radio show. Team Little Rock are also behind Glasgow's cult club night NORAVE, and run their own record label. Unfortunately the podcast this month is purely an audio podcast. I was unable to add enhanced podcast functionality as my main Mac is currently under repair. I have tried to make up for this disappointment by inviting the voice-over guy from the BBC National Lottery to introduce the show and provide some amusement! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Little Rock invite Microrave CEO Voltergeist into the Radiomagnetic studio to discuss dub, Ayrshire, and why he has talcum powder on his rider. Little Rock continue to lay waste with no apparent taste, presenting a dubbed-out techno set from Voltergeist, followed by an Earache classic and some Phil Anselmo. You know, the one who sang F**king Hostile. Voltergeist Set 1. Paralell - E3.2 - [Mouthmoth] 2. Felix Kubin - Wagner 99 - [Diskono] 3. Matt John - Hawaii You - [Perlon] 4. | Great news for Microrave Records!!! | hace 240 días | |||
| Dearest Friends, After nearly a whole year of hard graft, near misses, awkward moments, close calls, penny saving, making new contacts and a very steep learning curve... I'm pleased to announce that the new Grand National single "Cut By The Brakes: REMIXED" is out TODAY on my label Microrave Records, available EXCLUSIVELY at Beatport.com!!! Here's the press release: "Making the kind of pop music that any discerning music lover would be happy to see dominate the charts this spring, there are numerous influences that go into a Grand National record. From indie to electro to post-punk-pop, the duo's ability to twin solid songwriting sensibilities with tight electronic productions has resulted in debut LP 'Kicking The National Habit' being heralded a national treasure. Made up of Rupert Lyddon and Lawrence 'La' Rudd, the Grand National sound is that of a fully-fledged band, a singer / song-writer / multi-instrumentalist combination that belies the fact that they are a duo. Influenced by the likes of new wave '80s bands such as New Order and Joy Division, Grand National display a 21st century styling that places them squarely in London's eclectic and varied music scene, with a sound that is as cutting edge as it is retro. 'Cut By The Brakes' takes the GN sound to a darker, more electro-fried place. It's this darkness which prompted the various artists to remix the track and further amplify the "club appeal" of an already danceable track. Modifier execute a twisted electro-fueled breaks mix, showcasing their phenomenal ability to melt melancholic melodies and atmospherics together whilst driving it home with punchy drum programming and structure. The talented production duo are at the top of their game, and look forward to releasing more music on Microrave Records imminently. Gung Ho! and Ministry Of Sound favourites The Japanese Popstars add their trademark "hands-in-the-air" club vibe to the track, with a rolling progressive synth line and driving kick which is guaranteed to get any dance floor heaving under the weight of festival revelers this summer. Emotiquon increase the psychedelia with further kaleidoscopic sonic developments, building on IDM ideas which evolve from breaks, techno and psy-trance. Giving space to Rupert & La's original parts whilst layering so many additional sounds on top is an ambitious approach which has worked incredibly well. And finally, Voltergeist. After a well received debut mini-album in December on Microrave, fusing dark dub vibes with minimal/tech-house rhythms is the style of choice for this man! A deep, brooding floor shaker reminiscent of early Warp Records releases for late night clubs and intelligent DJs, this is a great track to round off the release." | Grand National release postponed... | hace 241 días | |||
| Dearest Microravers, As you are all aware, the new Grand National single "Cut By The Brakes: REMIXED" was scheduled for release today (29th March 2009). Unfortunately due to an administrative error on the part of online store Beatport coupled with a server crash and the loss of all Microrave business email on our end, the release has been unavoidably postponed... This is a little disappointing, but we hope that the release will be available to purchase by NEXT weekend (3rd April)... Promotional feedback has been extremely positive, and we're expecting that the release will do very well with DJs, clubbers and Grand National fans alike. We're VERY excited to be associated with Beatport, and look forward to a bright future together. More news as we get it... Shaun Dowse MICRORAVE RECORDS | ||||
