| Night Owls Karaoke - July 2008 Update | 506 days ago | ||

| (update from the nightowlskaraoke.com website) www.nightowlskaraoke.com We say goodbye to Mark Hammond, the Manager of The Queenslander Marsden. I have had the good fortune to have known Mark for a number of years, and I wish him well in his future endeavours. Mark will be remembered for his love of karaoke, his unique personality  his friendship, and the many fun times (during and after work) at the Queenslander. Ok it's another month, and as usual there are heaps of things to tell everyone, and what better place than with the 2008 State of Origin Series. Yep the mighty maroons have taken the three-peat (won the series 3 years in a row), so a magnificent victory by the boys and of course a very different game on offer by the Blues in the last game of the 08 series, this game in particular kept everyone riveted right thru to the end of the match, which I was able to watch with 200 eager State of Origin fans at the Alex Hills Hotel. Wednesday nights at the Muddy Farmer are no more, it seemed inevitable that the skyrocketing cost of living and rising alcohol prices are taking its toll on peoples budgets and the effect is less and less people are venturing out during the week (especially in the inner southern suburbs). The outcome from this has been positive thus-far in that more people are now supporting our Friday night show at the Muddy Farmer. We are in the middle of a tech upgrade (we're upgrading all of our karaoke systems) to the CAVS JB199 series 2, so i'm looking to giving the new systems a good workout next week. The new systems are all DUAL CORE PENTIUM systems and even at peak they barely break a sweat running at 29%-33% of total (single) core capacity - The possibilities are exciting. Finally Night Owls Karaoke are proud to be able to support / sponsor the 'Te Arohanui' Softball team, and we would like to thank Steve and Lisa for presenting this sponsorship opportunity on their behalf and the co-branding initiatives that were part of the sponsor package that allow Night Owls to increase brand awareness to a public that we would not otherwise have exposure too. Te Arohanui have a males and female mixed social team that meet every Saturday - for more information please send me an email and I will forward this on to Steve and Lisa, or you can catch up with them at the Colmslie hotel most Thursday nights. | Thanks to the Mums who made an otherwise ordinary show something very special. We had the Mums join us towards the end of the Manly Hotel show on Sunday and they totally rocked the place as they all sang along to Abba - Mama Mia and Dancing Queen. It was awesome !! We had a group of Mum's and their families obviously curious about entertainment that was going on in the Harbour Bar and came in for a look after having dinner in the Restaurant. Lisa worked her magic :-) - She's like the Hermione Granger of Karaoke LOL, and convinced them to give it a go, and it was brilliant (Mama Mia - great song btw) All the Mum's in the audience were singing hard out .. and there was no way I was going to let them leave after one song (c'mon it's Mothers Day after all) so I loading up 'Dancing Queen' and we went straight into it, after Mama Mia. (it's was sooo cool seeing Mum's aged from their 40's/50's right up to 80's all singing along) it was so cute when we finally ended the show for the night their was a sigh of disbeleif from the Mum's that the show was actually ending (obviously they enjoyed it, were ready to give it another go) Definately the highlight of the night (for me) and I just wanted to share this experience with you guys, and say thank you to all the Mums out there who joined us at the Manly. I trust you enjoyed yourselves and that we at lest made a favourable impression for you Mum's definately left a warm impression on one Karaoke Host.
