| Be a hero for the animals | 302 giorni fa | |||
| Dear Activist Here at the Viva! office, we have resources, expertise, experience and, of course, a compelling and irrefutable message - but unless we can get that message to the public, we will never achieve our aims. That’s where you come in. Your commitment, knowledge of your local area, and hands-on effort really communicates with people and is very much appreciated! If you’re in an Animal Rights group, or would like to start one, email back and let us know – we’ve got lots of free posters, leaflets and magazines you can use for your campaign. If you have a few hours to spare over a weekend, you could leaflet in your local town centre. Or maybe you could hold a veggie stall at your school during lunchtimes? We’ve got lots of great leaflets and posters that are desperate to be out and about raising awareness of animal suffering and encouraging people to go veggie. If you have any ideas of ways to use them, all you have to do is email back and let us know how you want to get involved and then we’ll send you as many leaflets as you like – free of charge! There are a number of things that you can do either individually or as part of a group that have a real and positive affect on reducing animal abuse: * Order leaflets and guides from Viva! (free of charge) which you can give out to your family and friends . * Make a display using eye catching posters, photos and drawings and have a petition to sign and leaflets for people to take away. You could have the display in you school or local library, sports centre or community centre. * Write letters to your local newspaper, MP or even the Prime Minister explaining why you are outraged at the animal welfare conditions in this country or explaining why you are veggie. * Ensure your school offers decent veggie food (encourage your friends to try it) if it doesn’t start your own “Veggie Lunch” campaign group! * Find a teacher who is up for having a Viva! School Speaker come to your school to do a talk in one of your lessons about vegetarianism and get them to arrange that with us. * Fundraise for the animals – make others aware of how poorly many animals are treated and ask for donations to help stop it! * Create your own Animal Rights Website. * Start your own Animal Rights Group. I hope to hear from you soon. | Veggie month - September - get involved! | 483 giorni fa | |||
| During September, we intend to give millions more people a gentle shove down the wonderful road of healthier, cruelty-free, environment-saving, people-protecting veggie living! We have the inspirational materials but we need your help to get the message out there to the people who can really make a difference – meat eaters. This year we are determined to expose the role the meat and dairy industry has in the destruction of biodiversity. You might ask: what has eating a burger got to do with killing monkeys? The answer is lots! Animal agriculture tops the list for making wildlife and plants extinct – it is also number one cause for the destruction of the rainforests and destroying the habitat wild animals need to survive. The reality is that by going veggie, you not only save the lives of 11,047 animals in a lifetime (by simply not eating them) you also save a whole jungle's worth of wild animals, too! We have produced brand new materials to take this very important issue to the public. Read more about the issues at http://www.viva.org.uk/veggiemonth/b... Even a few hours of your time can make a world of difference. Every single person who decides to ditch meat because of your actions means you are directly helping to save the lives of thousands of animals. Email fiona@viva.org.uk to help out, or visit www.vivaactivists.org.uk | ||||

| End of term veggie stall! | 557 giorni fa | |||
| Ah finally, the academic year is coming to an end. Sun shines through the windows once again, work starts to dwindle at pupils and teachers alike begin looking forward to the summer holiday ahead. If you fancy finishing the year with a bang, why not organise an end of year animal rights stall at your school (or college)? All you need is permission off a teacher, Viva! will send you all the leaflets, posters and stickers for free! You could hold the event on the last week of school, and put posters up around the building so people know where to find you. It would be a great way to raise awareness of vegetarianism, and the true horrors of factory farming. Lots of people are unaware of what really goes on, your stall could challenge their existing beliefs and encourage them to consider a more compassionate diet. To organise an event at your school, email fiona@viva.org.uk. Together we can formulate a plan to ensure your stall makes a difference. What better way to start the summer than saving lives! | ||||

| So Cute campaign - want to get involved? | 628 giorni fa | |||
| If you want to help us make So Cute a success, there are lots of things you can do. Showing the leaflet to your friends could make a huge difference and save the lives of thousands of animals! Information displays at schools, colleges and libraries have proven very successful in the past at encouraging people to change their diet. Holding a Viva! stall in your school, college or town centre is a great way to educate the public about factory farming. Viva! can send you lots of posters, stickers and leaflets (all for free) to ensure the stall is a success! All you need is a few friends to help you on the stall, and the confidence to speak bravely to the public about your beliefs. If you’re a bit too shy to hold a stall, why not write to the letters page of your local newspaper or favourite magazine? You could write about how great it is to be veggie, and how fun it is being involved in campaigns like So Cute. Other young people might read your letter and decided to try being veggie themselves. Every person you encourage to turn veggie, that’s another 11,047 animals you’ve saved - think of the possibilities! Please email fiona@viva.org.uk to get involved, or write to Fiona at Viva!, 8 York Court, Wilder Street, Bristol BS5 6AF | ||||
