Why I'm Switching to Sony Playstation 3450 dni temu

PhotonTorpedoes.com writes: I've been the biggest Microsoft/XBox booster for the past five years, but I've just let my XBox Live Gold membership lapse and I have no plans to renew it any time soon. For the multi-platform title releases, I'll buy them for the Playstation 3 from now on. If a new Halo title comes out in the future, I'll probably buy it, but I'm pretty much done with the XBox 360.

Why? It's become clear through recent articles just how badly Microsoft has ripped off the public with both the original XBox and the XBox 360.

More after the jump...

2.40 update ☺552 dni temu

So far, Sony has not confirmed what will be included in PlayStation 3 Firmware 2.40 so any information related to this firmware update is just speculation and wishful thinking. Since our last post on Firmware 2.40 features, a number of new speculated features have surfaced, this includes almost complete access to the XMB while in-game. This means you will be able to play music while in the middle of a game, in addition to messaging buddies and changing various settings. See an updated list of speculated features below, as well as a video of in-game XMB taken from a debug PS3 machine.

Updated feature list:

Access XMB in-game (including messaging, videos, music, photos, settings, network menu)
2D trophies from the XMB (supported titles only)
Video coding and groundwork for the Movie Store
Video/Image capture support (take videos and screenshots of gameplay)
Time and Date on XMB (like PSP)
PSN Store search feature
Multiple PSN logins for multiplayer games

Most of these feature are speculation only so don't get your hopes up until there is an official announcement from Sony, usually on the PlayStation Blog. The release date for Firmware 2.40 has not been set yet, though it is rumored to arrive towards the end of June or beginning of July.

must read CALL OF DUTY 5 NEWS558 dni temu

The fifth game in the Call of Duty series will be dubbed Call of Duty: World at War, according to the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine.

The game, which will appear on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS platforms, will feature split-screen co-op gameplay on a single machine, and online co-op for up to four players.

Like the first three Call of Duty titles, the game will be set in World War II, particularly in the Pacific Theater where players will be asked to battle Japanese forces -- a first for the series that has previously focused on European battlefields.

Specific to the Wii version of the title will be use of Nintendo's Zapper peripheral, though word on how exactly it will be utilized has yet to materialize. We're hoping the game will maintain the series' traditional first-person shooter gameplay, but the announcement of Zapper functionality makes us wonder exactly how the game will function.

PS3 firmware 2.40 what it is and when it is out 558 dni temu

It's not confirmed by Sony just yet, but Videogaming247 says it has it on "good authority" that the upcoming version 2.40 firmware update for the PS3 will at long last bring with it in-game XMB, as well as the slightly less-anticipated trophy support. If those sources are to be believed, the update will be dropping sometime in June, with some speculation further pointing to a release in advance of Metal Gear Solid 4's June 12th launch. There's apparently still some testing to be done to ensure that the in-game XMB will work with all titles, however, and it seems like features like trophies and user-music via XMB will only be supported in games created with the new developers tools that have apparently already been released in advance of the firmware update.

29 VG247 has published a note sent out from SCEE to Home beta testers confirming that Ubidays will be the first publisher event ever broadcast within Home tomorrow evening!!!!!!I've never really been a fan of Sony's Home. I thought it was an unnecessary thing and really just re-inventing the wheel when there are already things out there like Second Life. With a recent Press Release they've come a little bit closer to winning me over, really. Last week sony allowed PS3 users to experience a sort of replay of the PlayStation Day which was held on 6th May. This allowed PS3 users to experience the event from the comfort of their own living room complete with all the sights and sounds from the vent. The new arena is the new PlayStation Media & Events Space. This arena will allow the likes of you and me to see new products being unveiled.

This area can be re-dressed and re-themed to suit the game or event. So if they're showing of Metal Gear Solid expect a darker theme than you would for Grand Turismo.

Check out the new video and screens below, fool! !!!!!!

home open beta MUST READ580 dni temu

VG247: Ron Festejo, Home’s creative director, has confirmed that Home will enter its open beta phase in November this year.

“Home is currently in a closed beta phase,” he said, speaking at last week’s SCEE PlayStation Day in London. “We have between 8,000 and 10,000 users in this closed beta phase. Around July we’re going to be expanding on the closed beta phase and allowing more people to gradually come in, and then in November this year we’ll be going to the open beta.” !!!!!!

My efforts to pin down an exact source for this have met with little success, but it’s worth noting that many PS3 forums are alive with persons who claim to have received an email invitation to participate in the OPEN beta for Playstation Home on the PS3. This final phase of the roll out for this highly-anticipated Second Life-ish time suck is reported to be set for April 18th.For those a little late to the game, Home represents a social experience that allows players to customize their own online habitat by creating a home for their virtual selves. The experience will be tied to several currently menu-driven interfaces within PSN, but also offers some really interesting possibilities for gamers.

Overall, the concept is to give PSN users a living and breathing community that delivers a social experience that rivals, or exceeds the popular (though rather plain-looking) Xbox Live.

I’d like to hear some feedback from both the folks who have participated in the closed beta, and those on the outside looking in at Home.

Please share your thoughts on these questions.

Does Home, as a concept interest you, and why?

Do you think something like Home would hold your interest beyond the initial roll out?

Would you be willing to PAY for Home (monthly)? What about for add-ons and accessories to pimp out your virtual crib?

Is it fair to call Home a Second-life knockoff?

What challenges do you think Sony is facing or will face as Home goes public?
