We warmed up really well got ourselves ready to play then started as if we had done neither.

Took a while to get into the game as they pushed us back through playing the ball in close and getting their big men running at our smaller men.

Why did we stand back and let them run at us?

They scored a nice try in about 20 minutes kick over the top, by last week's ref, gathered by their 15, we were caught out of position to be honest. It was also converted by our friend.

We then started to get into the game pushing them back but still struggling at the breakdown.

Ian scored a good try right off the training ground, always knew it would work, but injured his shoulder and was off for the rest of the match.

They scored a bulldozing try, close in, again converted.

Then we witnessed what had been described as the best try scored by the team in about 12 seasons, ball went through many pairs of hands before Chas outpaced everyone to score under the sticks. Zydrunas converted.

Half Time Stobswell 12 - Bannockburn 14

We dominated the second half but unfortunately we lost too much lineout ball and bizarrely too many scrums against the head WTF!!!

Lots of poor decision making then ensued kept it tight when we were punishing them in wide areas coughed up the ball in contact and failed to make simple passes.

They scored late in the half following a fairly blatant forward pass again converted by our friend.

We scored on the stroke of full time but missed the conversion.

Think we left about 10 points on the park they took every point available to them.

Some good performances Dick our new scrum half played really well, now has a broken wrist unfortunately, Chas was always dangerous and Chris, "give us a platform" Hems looked at home in the centre.

Coach's Man of the Match Andrew Moir.

Time for everyone to step up we have 3 weekends off now and will train Monday at Baldragon 6pm and Wednesday at Mayfield 6pm.

It's gonna get Physical!!!!!

Match Report Arbroath 24 Stobswell 7398 giorni fa

Without the slightest hint of exaggeration this was the worst game of rugby I've ever seen.

We suffered a number of late call offs and no shows (nothing new there then!!)

The wind was blowing at 60mph the rain was horizontal and we were about 2 stone per man in the forwards.

Game had to be played tight who do you think that suited??

Our lineout, usually strong, won no clean ball our scrum went backwards and too many players decided they would rather watch the match than participate.

They scored 2 tries late in the first half with the wind behind them.

We made a couple of decent breaks in the midfield but ran out of supporting players.

Half Time Arbroath 12 Stobswell 0

They scored again early in the second half and then 10 minutes from the end.

We finally changed the point of attack and scored a good try by Chris under the sticks Zydrunas converting.

We switched off and let them get their bonus point try.

Coach's man of the match Chas for giving all he had in spite of his inexperience.

Final note; I know we have an issue with refs but what about this comment from him before the match

The ref is a Bannockburn player and they are now below us in the league as they had points deducted.

"If you lose today and we, Bannockburn, beat you next week we'll go above you in the league"

It might not be the gunman on the Grasy Knoll but for f+%&£ sake that's all we need!

Had our usual slow start, mistake from the first kick off!!

Came into the game strongly played a lot of time in their half but conceded 2 break away tries which were very preventable.

Dominated the lineouts including their throw, competed well in the scrums against a massive pack, did well in the loose although tended to be a bit too one dimensional we need to vary the point of attack.

Lost big Mick after 30 minutes, casual vomit is never a pleasant experience.

Never managed to use the strong wind we had at out back to peg them back.

Turned around 17-0 down they scored another within 10 minutes of the restart then we started to dominate.

Had one drive which took us 80 metres down the pitch to under their posts then got isolated they blootered the ball 60 metres and the chance was gone.

Need a bit more cutting edge in midfield and wider areas but they were worried and were hugely impressed by the quality of play and attitude of our team.

We are getting respect in defeat its time to take the next step and for us to be magnanimous in victory.

Strathspey scored lots in the first half and then lots again in the second half!!!

This was a match where we started with players who should not have played but were willing to do it for their mates and for the club.

We were down to 14 within about 15 minutes Kenny arm injury, then down to 13 within another 5 minutes, Ian concussion, we went down to 12 just before the half, Bandit knee injury and within 5 minutes of the second half starting we were down to 11, Swedish Dave head cut.

They were too strong, too quick, too experienced and too dirty for us.

The ref did us no favours his "pre match speech" told us how he would referee the breakdown then he did the opposite of what he said he would do, thought I was heading for a red card.

The fighting 11 deserve a lot of credit for never giving up and could have scored a couple of tries but for a lack of numbers in support.

Stand up Ian, Andy, Ian, Timmy, Dave, Stephen, Kev, Zydrunas, Genady, Johnny and man of the match for a spirit unbroken Chas.

We started on the back foot and were forced back towards our line.

They failed to convert a few chances as we managed to hold them up over the line several times.

They scored in 20 minutes when they sent another of their big men on a crash ball and we couldn't stop the run.

We started to come into the game after a lot of pressure from them and camped in their 22 for most of the second 20 minutes of the first half and decided to kick to the corner when we had several penalties, unfortunately our lineout let us down when we needed it most.

We finished the first half in their 22. Half Time 5-0 Carnoustie

Half time talk focused on the positive and not to switch off in the 2nd half, guess what happened we switched off and some people tired we stopped protecting the ball in contact and made a couple of howling handling errors which gave them 2 close in tries.

We then came back into the game and forced them back into their 22, where we created several chances which we failed to take, is this starting to sound familiar.

Players tired and we lost Chris, Ian and Adam through injury and Scott had to move into lock in the last 10 minutes when we lost a final try through pretty much their first phase of rugby involving backs and forwards.

Better performance this week we were good in lineouts drove their scrum back, did lots of good work in the loose and opened them up in the backs when Justin, Gibby and the outside backs combined well.

Some basic errors let us down and a lack of precision when it was needed.

Final note to the game we finally had a referee that did not allow a team to fall over the ball in the rucks, and their constant attempts at intimidation were met with fire and no backing down!!

Good luck to Adam in Afghanistan we will miss you and will be thinking of you.

It's not the time for excuses and we need to accept that we can turn things around!!

We started playing up the hill and were competing really well at the breakdown, in the scrum, at the lineouts all over the park pretty much.

We conceded an early try following a simple piece of movement in the midfield from first phase. This was followed by 2 catch and drives which bordered on truck and trailer as we pulled the mauls down.

A final try was also as a result of a driving maul. Half Time 0-26

Lost Ian at half time which did not help went uncontested scrums which hindered us.

No scores for 20 minutes from 30 to 50 minutes, then some midfield missed tackles did us for 1 try.

Lost Chris and Zydrunas to injury.

No scores for 25 minutes then 2 rapid at the end of the game when cover failings let us down.

We had chances to score several times clean breaks then we inexplicably slowed the ball down, worked good positions then allowed players to become isolated and get turned over.

Some harsh words at the end of the match, some disappointed people who deserved better from me.

I will stand by what was said you don't train you will not be an automatic choice for a place regardless of how good you think you are, or whether you think you cannot be replaced, don't kid yourself.

Carnoustie next week they are very beatable.

Will you be ready for it??

Another frustrating match for us.

First things first, this was never a 50 point game.

Once again we manage to shoot ourselves in the foot.

I made it 2 tries that Waid worked good positions for the others were as a result of poor tackling in the midfield or failing to clear and failing to deal with a ball fly hacked through.

Was over 20 minutes before we conceded, then we dominated for the first 20 minutes of the second half when Ian had a try disallowed for a double movement in spite of not being held in the tackle.

Once again though we are failing to make teams work for their scores.

Our 3 points came from Nauris with a late penalty which we could not set up field position as there was no time left.

Got to train together, better this week when there were 10 players who are training regularly and it showed for long periods of play.

Match Report Harris 87 Stobswell 0454 giorni fa

If the matches continue like this I'm not sure I'll be doing this every week (writing a match report that is I will always be there for the team)

Had a good turnout early for the warm up and bit of prep but still did not have a full set of backs until 15 minutes before KO. You know who you are.

Game started reasonably well we were making Harris work for everything they got, they worked a good try in about 8 minutes then another in about 20 minutes.

Then the roof came in we gifted try after try they did not have to do much just catch the ball and run mainly, we had conceded 9 tries by the half.

Lots of harsh words at Half time and the boys fronted up more in the second half managed to tighten the game up but still managed to gift a couple of tries in the second half out of 4 scored.

By my calculations we gifted 8 tries and Harris worked good positions for 5 of their 13. They were the better team by a mile but when you factor in that 9 of the players who started the match have not been regular trainers I think that is a stat that tells you so much.

Players came off committing to train and commit to the club now we need the action to support the words!!

Donkey Ridding468 giorni fa

A king wanted to improve the mood of his favorite donkey, who was depressed, so he put out a proclamation that he would pay anyone in the kingdom 200 gold pieces if they could make his donkey happy. Many tried, all failed.

Then a Stobbie boy went in to see the donkey, and when he came out, the donkey was indeed happy - so happy in fact, that he was laughing heartily. The Stobbie boy got the gold, but a few days passed and the king couldn''t make the donkey stop laughing. So he put out another proclamation saying he would pay 500 gold pieces to anyone who could make the donkey stop.

The Stobbie boy returned, went in to see the donkey for a few seconds, and when he came out, the donkey was crying. The king asked the Stobbie boy how he did it. The Stobbie boy said, "I will tell you for another 200 gold pieces."

When the Stobbie boy had received his gold, he revealed, "On my first visit, I told the donkey that my dick was bigger than his. This time I showed him."
