| Drinagh 2 – 2 Baltimore. Baltmore travelled to Cannon Crowley Park on Sunday last to take on the league leaders Drinagh. This was always going to be a difficult test for the crabs playing away to such a strong side. Baltimore’s cause was helped by a good turn out of travelling support. The crabs started the well with some good wing play from Eddie Sheehy and Ger O’Connell, Gavin Kiely unlucky with an early effort. Drinagh also had their chances early on and Damien Long in the Baltimore goal made a terrific point blank save from a one-on-one situation. The first goal came from good work on the right by Ciarán Cotter, his first time cross was met by the boot of Paddy Bohane sending it to the bottom right hand corner of the net. Drinagh took over for the rest of the half as Baltimore sat back. The Drinagh pressure paid off and on the stoke of half time, resulted in a foul being made and the referee awarding a penalty. Credit again must be given to Long as he pulled off another save of a penalty destined for the top corner. The Second half was a poor one for the Baltimore side, sitting back again absorbing the pressure and this result in two Drinagh goals, one from a great free kick to the top corner and the other a strong shot from 5 yards outside the box. Credit to the Crabs they never gave up and in added time Ciarán O Driscoll floated a good ball onto the head of Bohane, his flick down was met by a great equalising shot by substitute Pedro Lopez. | Baltimore F.C. had their cup final dreams ended by Mizen A.F.C., who defeated the Crabs 1: 0 in their West Cork League Div 2 Cup encounter last Sunday in the Skibbereen rugby grounds. Both teams started nervous and found it hard to settle, with the early exchanges even. Midway through the first half Mizen were gifted with a soft goal, when the Baltimore keeper misjudged a long ball, that bounced over him into the empty net. In the second half Mizen invited the home team to a game of football ping-pong. Baltimore obliged and never got their passing game going. The match consequently deteriorated into an eyesore for the spectators, who had to watch a horrible bang around of the ball. In the end Mizen got the result they desired and good luck to them in the final. Team: R.Romancauskis, C.O`Reagan, B.Sheehy, D.Casey, C.O`Driscoll, G.Milot, P.Connolly, R.Sheehy, J.Brown, F.O`Donoghue, P.Bohane Second Half Subs.: P.Manifold, S.Hurley, E.Kreicberg Without being involved in the league action of the weekend, Baltimore F.C. climbed into sixth place of the table by goal difference. The Crabs have to win their remaining two games, to defend this position. Next Sunday they welcome Dunmanway B at home; kick off is at 2.30pm. | ||||

| Baltimore lose away from home | hace 615 días | |||
| Baltimore F.C. suffered a 2 :1 defeat in their away match against Droumree Dynamos last Sunday. The Crabs found it difficult to get to grips with the bumpy pitch and the pace of the forwards of the home side. Consequently they conceded a goal after a quick break down the flank. When the ball was played in, Droumrees top scorer M. Kelleher was first to the ball, burying it low and unstoppably into the visitors net. Baltimore dominated the possession of the ball from then on, but they were lacking the coherence of their previous performances. The Crabs levelled the game, when Paddy Bohane was quickest to the ball, after the home defence failed to deal with a good free kick. Baltimore kept pressing, but gave away an unnecessary penalty, which led to the winning goal for the Dynamos. The Crabs had enough chances to get a result or even win the game, but should have no complaints, being beaten by a clever and well organised side. While Baltimore are now in danger, of loosing their mid table position, the Dynamos kept their hopes for the league title and promotion alive. Team: R.Romancauskis, C.O`Reagan, B.Sheehy, C.O`Driscoll, G.Sheehy, P.Manifold, P.Connolly, R.Sheehy, S.Hurley, F.O`Donoghue, P.Bohane. Second Half Subs. D.Casey, J.Brown, B.Hourihan. Baltimore F.C. will have to raise their game, when they meet Mizen A.F.C. in the semi final of the Div 2 Cup of the West Cork League next Sunday, 11.00am at the rugby grounds in Skibbereen. This game is already a big talking point in the Waterfront Bar and the Algiers Inn down in the village and the Crabs are hoping for a massive turn out of support next Sunday. | ||||

| Baltimore through to semi-final of cup | hace 622 días | |||
| Baltimore F.C. stormed into the semi finals of the Div 2 Cup of the West Cork League, with an impressive 4 : 0 win over Durrus last Sunday. The Crabs improved further on their recent rise in form and showed one of their best displays since being founded in 2007. Durrus had the advantage in the early exchanges, putting the home side under pressure in the first half. Ciaran O´Driscoll and Brian Sheehy marshalled the Baltimore defence well, making sure, nothing got past them. Baltimore’s regular keeper was delayed and arrived late at the game. Deputising in the unfamiliar role between the posts, James Brown did well keeping a clean sheet in the first half. Midway through the half the Crabs started claiming their share of attacking options. Gwenael Milot started a move on the right flank, which led to a blunder by the Durrus defence. Flor O´Donoghue won the ball and intelligently spotting the keeper stranded, he placed the ball into the empty goal from long range, to open the Baltimore account. Driven by the relentless efforts of Ronan Sheehy and Pat Connolly to win the ball, Baltimore started to get on top of the game. The two big lads set up more and more attacks and when Paddy Bohane went past two Durrus players, he sent a cracker into the top corner, which must register as the goal of the season. Leading 2 : 0 the Crabs went into the second half with their confidence soaring. Durrus increased their efforts to get back into the game, throwing players forward to attack. Apart from striking the woodwork twice, they couldn’t seriously test Ricki Romancauskis, who was back in goal for the second half. Coming forward left Durrus exposed at the back, with Peter Manifold and James Brown unlucky to miss chances to increase the Baltimore lead. Column O´Regan had another fine game at right back, setting up counter attacks, which caused trouble for the visitors defence. Shane Hurley at left back was likewise constructive in his game. The Crabs used their full fourteen players, with Brendan Hourihane making his debut on the wing to show good prospects for the future and Ger Sheehy being welcomed back into the squad with a short run out. Paddy Bohane punished the exposed Durrus defence with quick brakes, beating the keeper twice more later in the half, claiming his second hat trick of the season. Man of the Match honours consequently went to the top scorer for the second week in a row. The supporters were plentiful, offering great encouragement from the sidelines. Spirits were high after the game, with a full voice rendition of “The Boys Of Baltimore F.C.” ringing from the dressing room. The Crabs are looking forward to meeting Droumree Dynamos in an away game at 2.30pm next Sunday. There is no room for complacency and the gaffer is expecting a full effort at training on Thursday. | ||||

| Baltimore take away win at Sullane | hace 631 días | |||
| Baltimore F.C. travelled to Coolea, to play Sullane in a mid table clash in Division 2 of the West Cork League last Sunday. The Crabs went into the game after a roller coaster season, which left them without a win in the New Year. Baltimore took control of the game from the start, with Pat Connolly and Ronan Sheehy winning the battle in central midfield. The back four consisting of Colum O´Regan, Brian Sheehy, Shane Hurley and Ciaran O´Driscoll stood firm and used the ball constructively for the Baltimore side to develop their passing game well, despite the rather bumpy pitch. The finishing in front of goal didn’t match the good efforts in the build up and too many chances were wasted. Flor O´Donoghue made a good shot from long range, but the Sullane keeper was up to the task. It was late in the half when the Crabs finally took the lead. Beating the Sullane defence, Paddy Bohane coolly slotted the ball pass the keeper for the 1 : 0 half time score. Baltimore started the second half on top again, but lost their concentration for a while, when they let the home side back into the game. Sullane took control for this period and consequently equalized, when a shot was deflected for an unfortunate own goal. While the opposition was sensing a come back, Baltimore was under further pressure for the following period. Peter Manifold and Gweneal Milot on the wings were forced into a lot of defensive work, while keeper Ricki Romancauskis had a good game commanding his box with authority. The Crabs showed a lot grid and team spirit, to get back on top of the game and creating chances to win the match. Ten minutes from time Paddy Bohane beat the Sullane keeper to the ball, scoring the winner for Baltimore F.C., with the game ending 2 : 1 for the visitors. His brace of goals keeps man of the match Paddy in the hunt for the honours of top scorer in the Division and puts Baltimore F.C. back into the top half of the table. The new training regime of the last six weeks and the efforts to rebuild the team have finally paid off, with the Crabs gaining four points from the last two games. Special thanks go out to Clonakilty Town of the First Division for their cooperation in our training efforts. Baltimore F.C. play Durrus in the quarter final of the Division 2 Cup next Sunday, 09 March 2008, 11.00 am at the Rugby grounds in Skibbereen. The vocal efforts of our loyal supporters will once again be very much appreciated. | ||||

| Baltimore take good away win | hace 735 días | |||
| On a cold and damp Sunday afternoon Baltimore travelled to take on Dunmanway Town in the League. It was the away team who took the points on a score of 4 goals to 1. In truth Baltimore could have had much more but for some wasted opportunities and some good goalkeeping by the Town keeper. Baltimore took the lead midway through the first half, when a Edward Sheehy free-kick struck the Town wall, the ball fell nicely for Paddy Bohane and he converted from 6 yards out. With Sean Casey and the powerful Pat Connolly winning midfield and Sheehy doing damage on the wing Baltimore took control of the game. A second goal was sure to come, with misses from Shane Holland and Bohane, a Sheehy breakaway saw him putting Bohane through and his low cross found Holland for him to slot the second. James Brown had a good chance to wrap things up before the half was out when he was put through one on one but a good save prevented the third. Town did have there chance to pull one back just before the end of the half. A shot from the edge of the box, heading for the top corner was expertly saved by the Baltimore keeper Ricki Romancauskis. The second half produce much of the same, with more wasted chances by Holland and Bohane. Any attack by Town was thwarted by a strong Baltimore defence, with Ciaran Cotter having an excellent game at full-back and Domnic Casey holding the fort at center-half. The Third came, after some good work by Brown on the wing ended up with a free being awarded on the edge of the Town area. Casey stepped up and his quick thinking with a short pass to Sheehy, let Sheehy unleash a screamer to the top corner. Baltimore introduced a few substitutes with Damien O Suillivan for Brown and Alan Holland for Sheehy, where they both did well. Just as Baltimore thought it was all over, a rare Town attack and some poor Baltimore defending let Town through to pull one back, they could have had another but for some good keeping from Romancauskis again. Alan Holland hit the post near the end with a good effort and just before the final whistle Baltimore increased their lead again to 3. Bohane was brought down in the box and Man of the match Pat Connolly converted. All in all a good result for the travelling side.
