"Every Voice Counts"

Minutes from meeting 6th Sept820 dni temu

• Kimberley explained what Involvement was and the aims of the working group.

• We discussed the name of the Group, we decided by a majority decision that it was to be called “Every Voice Counts”.

• We discussed the Agenda for the meeting with Roars Not Whispers and decided that we would need to make a few changes to the plans to make the Partnership event work. These issues were to be discussed in the next meeting with Roars Not Whispers. Andy highlighted that The Waterfront may be too big and was concerned that for a first time event we would not fill it. We agreed that The West Port Bar or The Cliffburn would be better venue’s for this. This will be put forward at the next meeting with Roars Not Whispers.

• We had a discussion about idea’s to put forward to name the Event. So far no one has any idea’s. This discussion will be highlighted at the next meeting.

The next meeting is being held on the 3rd September and every second Thursday after that.

There is also a meeting on the 20th August to organise a partnership event with Roars Not Whispers, in Angus Community Enterprise at 2pm. I would really appreciate if anyone would attend this, even if I have had no contact with you already. As it will have to be a case of "all hands on deck". The work will be carried out over a couple of months but you'll have the positive ending of a (hopefully) great night!!

I have also arranged a meeting for the working group to attend a meeting with Adrian McClaughlin, Service Manager for the Angus Community Mental Health Service on 18th September (time to be confirmed). This will be a great chance for us to actually be doing something positive. He is very enthusiatic to give us something to do. This is only the beginning folks, plenty more coming our way.

As always, I am always looking for volunteers, any day of the week, don't feel like there has to be a meeting on to come in and get involved, I always have work thats needing done. A few hands would help!

Thanks
Kimberley

Minutes of YP Working Group Meeting - 14th August 2007843 dni temu

Minutes of Meeting - 14th August 2007

• Members were informed of Augments work and Involvement.

• Members were asked to fill out Contact Detail Forms.

• Members feel that there are not enough facilities provided for Mental Health Drop-Ins for young people in Angus.

• Members highlighted the need for Employment initiatives in Angus solely devoted to the needs of young people.

• One member discussed their own experiences of the counselling services within Angus, they found the counselling services that are provided in Angus to be judgemental and opinionated. They did not feel comfortable attending these sessions and feel there is a great need for this to be highlighted and changed.

• The Working Group discussed the information that was necessary to have on a leaflet for the project and they agreed upon an idea.

• We discussed the possible involvement of the Working group being involved in making the Mental Health Awareness DVD. All members were enthusiastic about this prospect, Kimberley Banks will find out more information about dates of meetings and information and will inform them as soon as she knows.

• Members would like to become involved in the Partnership event with Roars Not Whispers and will attend the next meeting on the 20th August, members will be reminded by text message of time and date.

• Banks informed the members that Adrian McClaughlin and Kirstie Framer are both very interested in meeting with them, all members agreed to these meetings and were very positive about working with them. Dates to be set.

Date of Next Meeting

3rd September 2007, 3pm at Angus Community Enterprise.

PS: please comment on this, let me know if you think I have missed anything out, or there is something that should be written differently. Ta

Thank you for your support but... (message to the oldies! lol)851 dni temu

I think that it is really great that a few older folk have joined the group to support us, but, as this is a young persons involvement project it is vital that the participation is for young people aged 16-27ish. I don't want to sound like I don't appreciate the support, because I really do!! I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Being in the background supporting the group is more valuable than your participation, I want young people to feel like this is their group, and forums, etc should be for their use only.

Hope I don't offend anyone as that is definitely not the intention!

Thanks

Tell your friends!!855 dni temu

Right, so its been a day and I have a had a huge response already. I had no idea it would be so quick and so positive. I think the best way forward is going to be by word of mouth, or rather word of bebo, so if you could let your friends know about the group I would really appreciate it.

I'm starting up a working group, on the 14th August at Angus Community Enterprise, details of address, etc are above. If you fancy coming along, just give me a shout.

At the moment I am at the very early stages of organising an event in Arbroath (a gig, bands, dj's, etc). I'm working in partnership with Roars Not Whispers and I'm really hoping it will be a success. We need to raise awareness and also reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. As this is a user-led initiative, its up to you to decide what we have for the event. Which bands, dj's do you want? How do you think we can get something back from the event, be it questionnaires, surveys, speak outs, etc.

I am always looking for volunteers, if you are interested in volunteering, get in touch with me and we can arrange to meet up.

Thanks again for your support
Kimbers
