"THE ONE AND ONLY!!!"
| EVR DH race | hace 440 días | ||
| Well, the tracks finished apart from a few tweeks I want to do before the race. I recon It'll be around a miniute by the time you lot are finished practicing. Rab Cochbane and Gav Borland came up to help me finish it off and test it out. The track was going to be kept secret till the race weekend but Michael rode it despite being told not to, so everyone who wants to race, get up and practice now. To find the track, go up ridge 45 to the fire road, turn right and walk for 1/2 mile and look for the track crossing the road. It crosses all three fire roads so if you keep going you should find it. The winner goes into a prize draw along with the dirtjumper winner, winner of that gets a training day with Chris Ball of Dirtschool up the ski slope track and a free ride qualification if you pass. Carol and I met Chris at our coaching day, he seems a good bloke and has fantastic bike skills that you guys would benefit from. Feedback on the track was good with words like flowing and drifty being bandied around. I recon its a ripper, faster you ride the trickier it is as proved by me when I hit a tree flat out, was on a stormer of a run trying my sneeky line when I clipped a bush and sailed over the bars into a nice big Sitka Spruce. Next run up I was a bit shakey and slide out into another tree which wasn't quite so tuff, so I knocked it clean over, felled in one bang, was quite cool if I don't say so myself. I got up thinking I'd just coast the rest of the run and instantly caught my pedal on a root and went over the bars again. Minger of a run that one but I can't wait to go back up and start pinnig the track to see how fast it'll ride. Still on a semi slick rear and its grippy enough, drifts nice then hooks up. But will prob get Carey's swamp things on soon as the speeds increase. We'll see, anyways you all have a good chance of winning this so get up and practice. Anything can happen in racing and nothing is set in stone! The prize draw is only open to youth EVR club members so if your getting on a bit (Me and Gav) you can't win the prize, only the race! I'm gonna race and see how many of you weedy sprogs I can beat! Date for the race isn't set yet but will be very soon. See you all around. J | |||

| Began work on the new track for the EVR DH race last week, its in a special secret place (my imagination) woooooow! Built 2 sections so far, Its not technical, but I reckon it'll be the longest and fastest tract we have. Got another two sections to build, the last getting quite steep. Its good to be out in the wood building and riding again. Track rides good, I like it. Gayle, Carol and I all went throught to Dalkeith to begin our coach training last weekend, I stupidly thought it would be a coushy number, weekend away riding my bike. Reality was it was pretty tough long days and quite mentally tiring. Turns out it was quite a big deal too, there where some really quite high end atheletes on the course. One of which was Chris Ball from Dirt School, another fellow had raced bmx all over the world and had represented Britain. Anyways, it was good to meet all these interest people all motivated by cycling. I phoned up Chick from Unit 23 last week and asked about half pipes, he is coming down next week to see the site, no date yet. | |||

| Sunday, Sunny Sunday... | hace 582 días | ||
| I love these sunny Sundays, thats a few we've had in a row now and everything looks a hell of a lot better when the suns beaming. Wen't up C-dogs new track up Lanfine, its usually really dark and difficult to see and a bit creepy up there in the dense pines...but today everything was bright and sunny...ace! C-dog was even a quite cheery....!! New tracks well tech, C-dog's given up on building one rock wide-impromtue rockgardens everywhere and is found a bunch of knarly big roots and stumps instead. Some tight switchbacks, a nice rooty shoot and a flat out off camber and your at the bottom, not long, but a good tuff bit of track to session. Bring on the Timing poles!!!!!!! I is gonna embarress you all wiv ma old geeza skills!! Rode the switchbacks real good and flowing on my last run, still loads of bits to practice and get faster though. The flat out off camber it excellent!! Just let off the brakes and revell as your tyres ripp into the ground, loads of roost and drifting and a mega drifting switchback at the bottom. Was sliding out big style there! C-dog is really smooth through the rough rooty bits, blast my feeble rigid bike!!! Kiddin' love my hardtail! Did smash my back wheel into the roots on vertually every run though, working on the Kovarik principle of punishing the track for being there!! GRR. Agent-C did a couple of really nasty steep bits and was well and was well chuffed with herself. All in all a good days ridin'. I can't get over how much faster the trails are rolling, rode the bottom section the fastest I've every rode it today. Flat landed the fallen tree NS bit, took my new sneeky Sam Hill line down to the bridge. Mickey T's up at the Fort William race this weekend, its a tuff big track, hope he does good. Wonder if he's wearing his EVR t-shirt??? need to ask him. | |||

| Bike Park opening | hace 583 días | ||
| Well, it all seems so quite now after all the excitment of the Bike park opening! Did you see we were in the Kilmarnock Standard?...5 mins of fame! Funny how plans get scuppered, my plan for the opening day was as follows, mark out spectator areas, put up gazzeebo's, mooche aboot a bit, then spend the rest of the day riding....Reality check! 50million burgers, a few veggy saugages and some salmonella later and the days almost over, and I'm completely knackered! I think I cooked my thigh muscles as they didn't seem to work for ages, same goes for my cheeks (I think I cooked them as they didn't seem to work for ages). Arrcch, my cheeks don't work!!! Great day....Sun was shining, you EVR boys were rippin' the track up all day, lots of people chilling out watching and talking about biking...ace. Thanks to Craig Cochrane again, who was chuffed with his T-shirt and beer for the boys... It was good to see the Skippster the other day and see he's doing good! I can't wait to get these timing poles, so f**kin' excited to get racing and doing timed runs. gonna be good. Reckon the video equipment will be good too, Nico Voullious, Fabien Barel and many top pro's use video to improve there riding and pick up on bad habits etc. I think this'll be good for the races, but also for the jumpers too, EVR film???? Yeah!!!!!!!! Started work on the soundtrack all ready! Anyways, been working flat out on final stages of Uni, so haven't been out until today. Agent-C and I did a good 9 mile xc finishing in the Mikarey-DH. Was dry and hard and fast as...great! Got some good drifts going, pinned it to the bottom and totally destroyed the track. ripped it a new one...so to speaketh...Job done....aahh....happyness. Think that rock gardens slowley busting up my wheels, I now have special wibbly wobbly jobs front and back, lol. Need to save me pennies and get some new 'uns. ahh well, best get back to Uni work... Cheers Agent-J | |||

| To everyone. | hace 750 días | ||
| you need to remeber that if you ride the ski-slope ,after it look for repairs that need done so the track will last longer..Things like braking bumps , ruts and skid patches all need to be repaired. This make the job easier and smaller than doing the whole track at once. Cheers Michael. | |||
