Atomic Brother Update July 19, 2008484 days ago

Hey everybody! It's been a little while since we've sent out an update. As is typical with unsigned or independent bands, things got hectic with the release of our album, See Me Comin'. Since we finished writing and recording we needed to take a few steps back and spend some time doing a little housekeeping to get the Atomic Brother house in order and work on the music business side of things. But that doesn't mean we've stopped playing and working on new stuff. Here's what's been going on in the world of Atomic Brother.

Upcoming Shows:
Playing NYC the past year has been a blast, but, to quote the Animals, "we gotta get outta this place, if it's the last thing we ever do!" On that note, we're taking a break from the stage to book shows outside NYC - including Europe and Asia - and to write songs for our next album. We have been invited to perform at the Baltimore Music Conference in September, which takes place at venues throughout Baltimore, September 17-20. We'll announce the details of our show as soon as we work them out!

Working on Number 2:
While we've enjoyed spending the last year performing songs from our album, See Me Comin', we realized we had to keep things moving forward. So, we have been working hard the last few months songwriting for our next Atomic Brother album. As result, we have about 12 killer new songs, plus we re-worked a few older songs that we really loved from the See Me Comin' sessions. We'll be posting some videos of the songwriting sessions and rehearsals in our video podcast, Wastin' Time with Atomic Brother. Plus, we'll be working some of these into our live set when we return to the stage later this year!

Soundtrack to MTV:
We have joined the MTV community at our profile on Soundtrack and vote for us!

AB Around the Net:
You can now find Atomic Brother on the Swiss-based social networking websites mx3.ch (http://www.mx3.ch/artist/atomicbrother) and 6degrees.ch (http://www.6degrees.ch/atomicbrother). We consider it an honor to be accepted by these 2 sites which reserve membership exclusively for Swiss bands. Also in Switzerland, the Zurich-based Internet radio station rockstation.ch is still featuring songs from our album. Go on over and listen to their broadcast of classic hard rock mixed with today's best hard rock and metal. And brush up on your German, they don't speak in English!

Our French-speaking fans can find us at htp:/ /atomicbrother.SkyRock.com. There you can join other French-speaking fans of Atomic Brother fansfans from France, Switzerland, Canada and Belgium.

In April we were featured in the ezine, Indie-in-Tune. Here's some of what they had to say about us.

"Few bands touch upon so many different styles as these guys, as their songs mix the aggressiveness of metal, the vitality of rock, the urgency of punk as well as the catchy melodies of pop into one whole that is more than the sum of its parts. Such a broad spectrum of influences could be a recipe for total disaster in the wrong hands, resulting in a messy jumble of styles, but that's where the biggest merit of Atomic Brother resides, here's a band that knows how to keep things cohesive and balanced throughout their songs.

Check out the whole feature at http://indieintune.com.

Several podcasts have featured "Allah Told Me To," "Everything and Less," "Home In The Sky," and "Employee of the Month." Wastin' Time With Atomic Brother
After a really long break, our video podcast, Wastin' Time With Atomic Brother is back! The first episode of season 2 is now online.

In this first episode of Season 2 of Wastin' Time with Atomic Brother, we take you behind the scenes recording See Me Comin' in Lausanne, Switzerland and introduce you to drummer Pat Aeby and take a look inside the big box and take a tour of the small box.

Download the new episode of the podcast on iTunes or http://atomicbrother.com/wastin. You can also watch it on http://youtube.com/atomicbrother, http://wastin.blip.tv and http://revver.com/u/atomicbrother.

Anyway, how does Atomic Brother waste time? In the videos we are always playing, rehearsing, writing songs and whatever else a rock band does. We'll get into some of that in future episodes. The show is called "Wastin' Time with Atomic Brother" not "Going to work with Atomic Brother." So, how do we waste time?

James is an avid surfer, and has been for a many years. He's nuts. And he's real good. He'll surf in any weather. Check him out surfing in the snow with his brand new Atomic Brother surf board! Sebastian recently was an extra in the new NBC tv series "Lipstick Jungle," playing "East Village Rocker," walking in front of "Steve's girlfriend" from Beverly Hills 90210.

Who's That Playing Drums?
Some of you have been wondering what's up with our drummer Mike. Where has he been, and who is this guy Rob that's playing drums now? We'll, besides being a drummer, a director and editor, Mike is also the frontman for the band Isol8ed. He took a year off to play with us and now he's gone back to finishing his album. You may recall that we appeared in a video for his band Isol8ed in 2006. Mike is a good friend and will always be a part of the Atomic Brother family, and we can't wait to hear his album.

The new guy, Rob Kelly, is actually the old guy. Rob is also part of the Atomic Brother family, he played drums for Atomic Brother on many of the original demo sessions for See Me Comin', and he's joining us for a few shows this year.

We have been fortunate to be friends with, and play with, many great drummers over the years, and will continue to do so in the future. So, don't be surprised if you see Mike, Rob, Greg or even Pat taking turns behind the kit.

New Jersey Bound
Hey New Jersey! We'll be making our way out to Clifton, New Jersey in April to play with our old friends King Hell, at Dingbatz, the Rock Capital of Clifton. More details later, but make sure you mark April 18th on your calendar.
