For anyone who missed it - this is the review I got on at www.crossrhythms.co.uk

I scored an acceptable 6/10

Reviewed by Nigel Harris

"This is Seaton, Devon-based Pete Brazier's latest solo release, a 'Work In Progress' that eventually got finished! Pete has been a member of various bands since 1986 - Purple Emperor/Vision, the intriguingly titled Influential Love Bunnies and The Teatime Experience to name but a few, but most of his albums have been solo releases. Solo, but not just singer and acoustic guitar. Pete is a versatile keyboard player and clearly has some considerable studio skills as he weaves together multiple layers of vocals with electronic drums, keyboards and guitars. 'Work In Progress' is a collection of songs which he says "have been floating around so long I thought they'd never find their way out of the studio." There's a bit of a Beatles vibe to the opening "Shooting Stars". "Encircle Me" tries (maybe a little too hard?) to do a bit of a dance thing with keyboard and vocal loops. The intricate instrumental "New Town" was originally a composition used as the background music to the website for The Big Fish Café, a youth event organized by Seaton Methodist Church in which Pete plays a big part. I particularly enjoyed "This Tiny Place", which has Pete in Crowded House (perhaps Jethro Tull would be a closer comparison, Pete's vocals are very reminiscent of Ian Anderson) folk/rock mode - complete with some nice vocal harmonies from Pete himself! It would be easy to criticise the production quality of this album, certainly the vocals could be better, but they are usually the weak part of any low budget recording. However, the quality of the songwriting and Pete's creativity shine though."

will be doing some more work on the new album soon...

Not only have i actually got round to putting new strings on my guitar but I've also just recorded a track that's been half written for a while - nailed it, and I'm quite pleased with it too. Its not often I'm happy with my guitar playing but this track is all guitars and I'm still smiling. It's called Measuring the Distance, go see if you like it. :)

Thanks to everyone who made the Valentines Big Fish a great night. Especially good to see some new faces, both on and off stage. My apologies to anyone who may have noticed I was losing the plot towards the end of the evening, turns out I was coming down with the cold that Debs has had all week. Did manage to present a slightly rough version of a brand new song written on Thursday night though and it will possibly be the title track of the new album - "Aliens in the Landscape" - you heard it here first ok. The next event is on 7th March.

I'm suddenly thinking that I have almost enough material to start putting together a new album. Could be fun, but in the mean time may I remind folks that my previous album "work in Progress" is still available on iTunes and Napster. As a matter of interest, what online shops do folks here on Bebo use to download music?

After the Big Fish314 giorni fa

- It was another good evening at the Big Fish last Saturday, thanks to all who came along and made it so. The next Big Fish Café is on Feb 14th which of course is St Valentines Day. So what should we do at the event to make it more valentinesy? (yes it is a word because I said so). I've put a discussion topic up for you to share your ideas over at the Bebo Big Fish Page. All ideas welcome even if you can't make it to the event. www.bebo.com/the-big-fish-cafe

- I am in the process of tidying up the recordings done live at the Big Fish on Saturday. They should have been uploaded by the time you get this message.

Big Fish Tomorrow318 giorni fa

So it's the Big Fish Café tomorrow (Saturday 17th Jan for anyone who reads this later and gets confused). I'm going to be showcasing some new and unusual music and we should have loads of games as well as our house band that still has no name - note to self: must discuss names with people at some point. I'm hoping to record some of the live performances tomorrow so I'l try and bung a couple of choons up on the old interweb if they work out OK.

l8r ppl ;)

No not the TV show, just Bebo profile skins - I've just made one for this page so that it follows the style of my website (www.petebrazier.co.uk )

I must say that I think it looks quite pretty, what do you think?
