International Dance Comp340 dni temu

Dancers

I got an e-mail this week asking our school if we would like to apply to compete as a club at an INTERNATIONAL dance comp. The comp is being held next year in Barcelona, Spain. we have up to 15 minutes to preform if we apply and are accepted.
Time Limits
SOLO, DUO-TRIO, MAY NOT EXCEED 3 MINUTES IN LENGTH
LARGE GROUP, MAY BE UP TO 8 MINUTES IN LENGTH.
THE MAX EXHIBITION TIME IS 15 MINUTES for EACH DANCE GROUP.
I think that this would be a great experience for all our dancers although if we can go it will probably only be the teenagers and adults. The festival lasts 4 days and last year there were over 50 schools competing from 19 country's on 5 continents including Australia.
Category Subjects:

:: Ballet - A routine where all dancers wear ballet slippers and execute ballet technique, whether classical, neo-classical or contemporary.

:: Ethnic/Folkloric - A routine consisting of dance styles of a particular ethnic group.

:: Hip Hop/Funk - A routine where the majority of the content is "street wise" jazz or contemporary jazz considered as hip-hop or funk.

:: Jazz - A routine where all dancers execute free form movement and styling characteristic of jazz dance whether in jazz or character shoes of any kind, half-soles or bare feet.

:: Lyrical - A routine where all dancers interpret the lyrics or mood (intent) of a song (with or without words). This form includes the use of legwork, balance, and facial and body emotion. Dancers may wear character shoes, lyrical shoes, half-soles, or be barefoot.

:: Modern - A routine that demonstrates balance, extension, isolation, and control using modern technique.

:: Musical Theater/Character - A routine interpreting a song from a "Broadway" or movie musical or a routine portraying a character from a play, movie, television show, or a stereotype (policeman, doctor, etc.) through any style of dance.

:: Open – A routine combining any two dance styles or a routine that does not fit any category listed. Routines may also be placed here IF you already have a routine with the same performer/performers in the same age division, subject category.

:: Pointe - A routine where all dancers wear pointe shoes and execute pointe technique, including contemporary pointe.

:: Song & Dance - A routine where contestant(s) sing as well as dance. Such routines must contain at least 30% singing without background voices. Ø Lip sync does not qualify as singing.

:: Tap - A routine where all dancers wear tap shoes and execute tap technique.

Schools and Dance Groups are welcome to participate in many CATEGORY SUBJECTS competition.

PLEASE READ AND COMMENT IF YOU THINK WE SHOULD PARTICIPATE AS THE DEADLINE TO APPLY IN FEBRUARY 10TH

2008 Eisteddfod678 dni temu

It's near that time again!

Dancers that would like to compete in the Eisteddfod this year with their own choreographed solos should start thinking of music, steps and costumes early. The more time you have to work on your solo the better.

If anyone wants to learn a traditional/ethnic solo for the Eisteddfod please ask one of the teachers to help you learn it.

Feel free to ask with help on Choreographing your own personal solo if you need too.

If you want to enter in the Duo/Trio section, you should also start thinking of what routine you would like to do and who you would like to compete with. (make sure to get their permission before deciding though)

You can do either a Ethnic Duo/Trio (the ones we learn in class) or a National Duo/Trio (made up, choreographed) or even both! This applies to the Solos as well..

Anyway have fun planning your dances, We all look forward to seeing you back at class for a fantastic 2008!

About us842 dni temu

Haha, realised we haven't got all that much on here about the school, so here goes:

Rince na hEireann was Darwin's first Irish Dancing school, begun by Eileen Ashley (a champion dancer) about ten years ago. The school is now run by an Association Committee, and the principal (for want of a better name) is Bridgeen. We offer classes for dancers of all ages, from five to 'mature', on Saturday mornings in the Darwin Entertainment Centre's Rehearsal Room. Classes are taught by Bridgeen, along with three teenaged dancers, Siobhan, Shawnee and Rosie.

The school is well known in Darwin and you can often see us performing at community events around Darwin and Palmerston. We also travel around the Top End (you can usually catch us once a year in Katherine) and have appeared in three productions by Tracks Dance Company to date, including the Arafura Games Opening Ceremony in 2005 and 2007. Our dancers also compete in the local Eisteddfod and we hold annual end-of-year shows, ranging from small recitals to professional-style concerts in the Playhouse Theatre at Darwin Entertainment Centre.

If you are interested in joining the school, you can contact us through this page or by email (rince_na_heireann@hotmail.com). New dancers are welcome.

Class times (PLEASE NOTE: These times have been amended. New class times will commence on Sat 11/8)
New beginners - 9:00-9:30 (Here students learn the basics of Irish dancing in a small group for maximum teacher-student contact)
Beginners - 9:30-10:30
Primary level - 10:30-11:30
Intermediate/Advanced - 11:30-1:00 (There is a half-hour overlap with the adults class to prepare for displays)
Adults - 12:30-2:00 (Beginner adults can join this class)

-Rosie (If there is something you guys notice I've got wrong or missed out, or if something doesn't make sense, please tell me! :P )

what is a stich862 dni temu

we all get them at one time or another so what is a stich?

A stich is a pain felt on either side of the body, usually after severe exertion.
It is caused when normaly inactive muscles tighten and press against the nerves.
In a healthy person, a stich is nothing to worry about and soon passes.

and now you know what happens when ever you get a stich.

thank-you
;)
