| Today I have uploaded slightly newer versions of the existing stories, with errors removed. I want everyone to know, those of you who made suggestions about parts of story needinf changed had their suggestions considered as part of the process, however not every suggestion meets my requirements so will not make it in. Thanks to the folk who have sent exhaustive (ok, maybe not exhaustive) lists of typos that have managed to creep through. Those have now been corrected. I have decided that the story "Aaron and the Wolf Guard" will remain onsite permanently, rather than be the temporary addition it was. The last sage tale, "Chasing the White Horse is currently being written and is in its first draft. John http://www.bebo.com/Ezril-Rain-Dancer http://www.bebo.com/wolf-guard | ||||

| Long time no speak folks, so heres the update. I am in the process of writing the last short for this page which will probably take me about three or four more hours to write, and a comparable amount of time tidying. Then the only additions will be the audience interludes that I have started with the prologue and epilogue. I also made an executive decision to leave "Aaron and the Wolf Guard" story on this page, as I had considered removing it. The new story is called "Chasing the White Horse" and it is about Greed, Pride and Hospitality. More than that, I will not say. You'll just have to red it. | New Page, New Story | 9/17/07 | |||
| Ok folks, I have a new story posted on bebo. It is different format, and written in a different style. Those folk who have read it found it much easier to read than the sage tales. Anyway, as it is entirely new format I have posted on a new page dedicated to it, so please do feel free to jump on over there and have a look. The link is http://www.bebo.com/wolf-guard Happy reading John | ||||

| Its been a while... | 8/23/07 | |||
| I haven't blogged on this space for a while, so just to keep you updated. At the moment I have an idea for another sage tale to post here in the future. I have not started writing it yet and possibly will not for a while. My time is being taken up writing my main work, which will not appear here. Unfortunately, it must take priority. So, sorry folks, there will be a delay in the next installment. There is a slight possibility of a second site being created in the near future of a totally different style though from the same fantasy world. Watch this space. Thanks for remaining fans. It is appreciated John | ||||

| 24th-New story finally posted | 7/24/07 | |||
| As the title says, my new tale of the sages is finally posted. It is probably not perfect, though I have now spent approx 6 hours editting and re-editting it. If there are any errors left in, there is a reasonable chance my eyes won't see them-feel free to point them out. I'll say a couple of things. I had the idea a while back, and really wanted to try my hand at writing a fairly major battle. So, I started writing this as third person from the perspective of Sewarth. This ran to 55 pages and was not in keeping with the style, so I rewrote it as a tale of the sages. This was quite a difficult task, far harder than previously anticipated. The narrated style does not favour a large scale battle where a lot is happening. My fear was that the story became disjointed and jumped about too much. On reading through, it certainly is not as bad as I feared but I am biased. Secondly, as with the other sage tales, there is a pearl of wisdom/legend/ghost story/proverb woven into the final paragraph. I came up with the idea for this one myself and was proud of it. And then I read it, and it looked like I had pinched an idea from Norse Mythology. I just will categorically state that I hadn't considered the Norse angle until after I had had the idea and written it down. Second of all, my style and certain key differences makes my idea different. And, since religions tend to use/borrow/steal ideas from each other all the time, I do not think I have infringed anyone's intellectual property. Plus if odin wants to sue me, he can have a valkyrie deliver the summons. Thirdly I mentioned a group of soldiers in the story called "The Grey Company". I tried to make a big deal of them despite the fact they were not in the story very long. The reason for this is fairly simple. The sage tales are history, legend and fairy tales. They are background for my main work as long term fans may already know. The story makes a big deal of them because they are a big deal. They may play a relatively short part in this story, but their legacy persists for 2000 years after it. I won't elaborate on that, as it is another story. I just wanted to elaborate. Thanks for reading this waffle and the story. And Ade-sorry buddy, but this one is longer still than the other ones. Hope you enjoy it regardless. Thanks for reading John | ||||

| Update 23rd July | 7/23/07 | |||
| Ok, another update. Next story is now in its third draft and is nearly ready I think. I will need to reread it a couple more times to polish off but expect it in the next few days. And thanks for the review Dragon Fanatic, I tried to comment on your profile but apparently I can't. And thanks again to everyone else for reading and being patient John | ||||

| Update 21st July | 7/21/07 | |||
| ok, here is the update. 1st draft of next short story to appear is now complete. It is slightly longer than anything posted so far, but I don't think editting it down will cut the length that much. It will appear in the next week I would say, after it has went through some editting (naturally). For me, this particular story is a risky venture because as I wrote it, I was not sure if it was gripping enough to hold the reader's attention. A lot was happening and I hope that I was able to give adequate description to the things happening, without being tedious. I only hope folks will give it a look once it is up to see what they think. Hopefully be able to post it in the next week(ish) though that will depend on other commitments. Following on from that there will be an interlude and in the future another narrated tale called "Chasing the White Horse", though that is quite far in the future at the minute. I'll just say thanks again to the readers, reviewers, fans and of course critics who spot the errors I overlook when tidying the work up. John | ||||

| Update 6th of July | 7/6/07 | |||
| I have now as you probably noticed added a prologue and an epilogue. I need to say something about them. They have no bearing on the actual short stories I have put on here, rather they are an introduction to the story teller and his audience at the time. They also tie this whole show piece in with the main work I am writing just now. Careful, there is a spoiler in the Epilogue..but since the final draft is probably years away(and years more in publishers...grrr), read without fear and then forget it. Also comment-are the prologue and epilogue good and mysterious, making you want to read the main story. or are they baffling and unbelievable? Since I'm a nice guy, and am nowhere near finished Irongate Pass, I have temporarily added another short story, Prince Aaron and the Wolfguard. Read it and enjoy it, for it will disappear into the surroundings. Kinda like a Wolf Guard(read it, you'll understand). Oh yeah, one last thing. I also changed the blurb a bit. Enjoy, and tell your friends. | ||||

| Just thought i'd post an update for the folks that took the time to become fans and/or review rain dancer. Thanks again by the way. You folks are brilliant. In my last blog alerted you to an up and coming story that will appear here soon, called "The Battle of Irongate Pass". Again, like rain dancer it was intended as background for my main work and was intended to be about the same length. The first draft is now complete. Good news? No, not really because instead of being approximately 10 to 15 pages, it ran to 54. And I could not see any person hunched over their pc or laptop reading 54 pages of my work over the inetrnet. So what to do? Well, 2 things. This version of Irongate will be saved and archived because I believe it can be woven quite easily into the main plot, further down the line. But I did say you'd get irongate on here, so get it you shall. I will re-write it entirely, in the same style as rain dancer so that the format of this showcase remains the same. the bad news is, that means there will be a delay in seeing it appear. Also appearing will be a third short story written in same style as rain dancer(narrated) though it is still very much a work in progress. You can also expect to see a prologue to introduce the narrator to his audience, two interludes and an epilogue which will tie this showcase into my main work Which is still a big secret. I don't half witter on when I get started do I? Again, thanks for everyone's support. It is brilliant John | ||||
