| Sat 14 March Picnic and Lego Day Island Bay Park for a picnic, then to Merlin's house (which is near the park) for Lego 12-4ish (Merlin has HEAPS of Lego, but bring along a Lego character with its own biography, story, history etc, if you have lego) (Island Bay park is the last stop on the Island Bay line, No. 1 bus) Sun 15 March Assume Nothing Doco (one of Hannah's mates is in this so she's going along if anyone wants to come) Hoyts, Manners Mall 6:30pm $13.50 Many of us assume that there are only two genders and that being female or male follows from the sex of our biological bodies. Focusing on the art, photography and performances of six “alternative” gender artists of Maori, Samoan-Japanese, and Pakeha descent, the film Assume Nothing poses the questions: “What if “male” and “female” are not the only options? How do other genders express themselves through art?” Sat 28 March A Brief History of Helen of Troy Bats Theatre, 1 Kent Tce 6:30pm $13 ( let me know numbers cos i will need to book ) Charlotte is fifteen, fat and ugly. Her beautiful mother is dead, her grieving dad can barely talk to her and her best friend is a faggot. To cope with it all Charlotte devises a vivid fantasy world centred around the beautiful Helen of Troy, which provides some comfort, but her mild psychosis is slowly destroying the lives of those around her. She wants to have a face that launched a thousand ships but will settle for becoming a porn star. | |||
