It’s got all the brilliant gear you’ve heard about since the first ball hit that perfectly groomed grass: Maria’s now-famous ‘tennis tuxedo’, Roger’s smart cardigan, Rafa’s extra-long shorts and Serena’s classic raincoat (HIGHLY likely to come in handy this week). | At just 18, Steph Twell is one of the UK’s most talented young runners and is already being spoken of as the new Paula Radcliffe. While these comparisons are flattering, Steph is keen to make her own mark in both cross-country and on the track. Last June she beat the UK age-17 best for 1500m – a record that had stood for 23 years. Then in September she wiped another four seconds off this time, well inside the qualifying time for Beijing and just 1.33 seconds slower than Paula Radcliffe’s personal best over the same distance. While Steph’s eager to run her own race she agrees that obsessive determination is something she has in common with Radcliffe. “We’re similar in that we share a very single-minded attitude. I put the blinkers on and focus in on what I need to do.” This determination saw Steph finish fourth in a top-class field in January’s BUPA Great Edinburgh International. Steph’s immediate goal is the Beijing Olympics but it’s 2012 that’s driving her on - she’s even got a 2012 pin attached to her pyjamas. “London 2012 – here I come”, she says and as one of athletics’ brightest middle distance hopes Steph Twell is definitely one to watch. | To celebrate the launch of NIKEiD Blazer, seven young dance fans competed to customise an exclusive shoe for the reigning Nike Dance Clash champion, Clara Bajado. The girls from London’s Lillian Bayliss School worked at the NIKEiD studio to customise shoes to match Clara’s style and passion for dance. Clara loved all the designs but could only choose one.
