| Young Researchers Young UnLtd, one of the partner organisation's of Big Challenge is currently seeking volunteers to form a team of Young Researchers to gather insights about social change throughout the UK! This is an exciting opportunity for any young person especially those wishing to: Develop their skills and understanding about social entrepreneurship Get a ‘behind-the-scenes’ view of what young social entrepreneurs have done to make their ideas a reality Learn techniques to develop and conduct valuable and relevant field research about young people and social change Be part of a team that will publish the research findings and disseminate a report to the public and private sectors Go on a 2-day training residential This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are interested in young people, social change, politics, community activism, or social entrepreneurship. Also participants will get hands-on experience doing research in the field as part of a nationwide project. We are looking for young people between the ages of 16-25 to apply to become a Survey Researcher or an Interview Researcher. | Hi all, The Final Round of Be Cause Voting has begun! The 3 shortlisted candidates are as follows: Project Name: Path for the disabled Name: Erzsebet Majorovics-Gordon To start a project where children and adults with physical difficulties such as cerebral palsy; stroke and multiple sclerosis learn how to overcome their movement problems to lead more active, independent and fulfilled lives. The project is based on conductive education where the brain is re-educated so that the body is able to move. Project Name: Safer Transition Project Name: Tim Watts A centre for those aged 16 years and up who experience bullying after leaving school – at college, university, in the military services or in apprenticeships etc. The centre will provide support during transition into work and further education and a refuge for victimised adults. http://www.safertransition.co.nr Project Name: Drug and Alcohol awareness project Name: Opeyemi Araromi A three month drug and alcohol mentoring scheme for young people aged 11-19 in Barking and Dagenham. The project is aimed at preventing and reducing the risk of young people abusing drugs and alcohol both now and in their future by supporting them to develop positive lifestyle changes and coping strategies. | Hi all, The final round of the Be Cause Awards takes place this month. This round is a "Best of the Best" round. All applicants who have previously been shortlisted for the BeCause Award will be entered into this round, as well as any new applications received before 9am on 20th June 2008. At this point a maximum of 5 applications will be shortlisted to be entered into a final vote - the winner of this vote will win an UnLtd Level 1 Award - worth up to £5,000. | Congratualtions to Toni who is the winner of the April BeCause Award! Toni will to provide Bingo sessions to the elderly currently living in Residential Care Homes within Portsmouth, as well as local community groups & community Cafés. Playing not for money, but for practical but fun prizes, such as hampers, toiletry gift sets, chocolates etc. By offering this service Toni aims to combat social isolisation, promote social interaction, build on community relations and ‘sign post’ to other care services within the Portsmouth area.
