| 'On A Saturday' the latest single from Jacob's sensational second album 'Revenge Songs' will be released this Monday 26th May. The song was recorded in Jacob’s bedroom in Portland, Oregon and was inspired by his time living in London, watching the world go by in Soho Square... | New Single "Out Come The Wolves" out Monday and a new home! | hace 633 días | ||

| I've been back on the west coast of America now for a couple weeks after the UK tour and a great week spent wandering around Brooklyn NY which included a really cool show at my new favourite bookstore in the city Housing Works. Me and mine drove up to Portland OR from Sacramento and after a few days of feverishly hunting around town we've found a place to call home. I've been living out of a suitcase now for nearly a year and as much as I like touring, I can finally set up my beloved home studio again and start hammering out some new songs for the next album. Time to start imagining that next chapter, lots of ideas brewing around, I'll keep you posted on the process. Oh yes, I have single coming out on Monday in the UK. In fact it's my very first single from the new album and practically of my life. It's a double A side of "Out Come the Wolves and Zero Integrity". I even convinced my record company to press up some Vinyl 7inches (just like mom used to make) and we've sprinkled them like Easter eggs for hard core music fans to hunt down across the UK in indie shops and HMV’s. | So I had a very interesting and surreal day yesterday. I was invited to sing on the legendary "Later with Jools Holland Show"! I performed alongside Hot Chip, Sheryl Crow and Liza Minnelli. Walking onto the set that i've only seen from the other side of a television was very dreamlike. Just a few weeks earlier Radiohead played a scorching set on the same stage and I feel very honored to have had the chance to sing my song and to send my voice and words out to a wider audience. It was very challenging trying bottle up what i usually do in a whole show and try and put all of that energy into one song. I sang "Out Come the Wolves". I practiced all i could and with a little red wine in me I went to it. I started the song and there was a lot of emotion in my body that left me a little shaky and breathless but as I got into the chorus I began to forget about the cameras, the audience, Liza (The daughter of Judy Garland i.e. Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz!) and all the other bands standing around me and I just dug into the words and it was a real rush. I almost forgot where i was for a minute and then the song was over I opened my eyes and there was Jools shaking my hand and I had done it- My first UK Live television show. It wasn't a "perfect" performance, but I put all I had into it, it was real and I feel good about it being beamed out into peoples living-rooms. The show will air this Friday February 15th on BBC2 and will also be viewable on the http://www.bbc.co.uk/later/ website (Sorry Uk only but check on youtube I'm sure someone will upload it!). Last night of the tour in Bristol was a really nice way of wrapping up the tour. The crowd was warm and the sound on stage was loud and clear which really helps me to get into it. I've really grown fond of Bristol and the Louisiana is a quality venue to play. My favorite tonight was probably "Love You" which when the stars align in the right way can feel very transcendental to sing. That's the point I try and find, where I forget about the day, the audience, the chords and all that stuff and just deeply connect to the song. That doesn't always happen but I felt tonight there were some moments of that, plus a good bit of back and fourth banter with the people that was good natured and funny. See you next time! | ||||

Last nights show in Portsmouth was an unexpected surprise. We were racing to get from the Johnie Walker session I did in London to get to Portsmouth and being a Sunday a notoriously slow day and having only played in Portsmouth once before I didn't quite know what to expect. we arrived at the club which I have to say was the coziest venue so far, kind of like an old english pub very warm with a nice little stage and a good vibe all around. I ended up going on last and I felt good kind, of like cutting loose a bit and by the time I hit the stage I was a little tipsy but my voice was returning to form after having a cold for a couple days and the songs seemed to just flow in a nice way. I still managed to bunk up the lyrics on BlueBird but all and all what was really nice is that everyone was dead silent while I played the songs and very enthusiastic in between which for me really let's me do my thing with out wasting energy trying to sing quiet songs above a bunch of chattering heads! I'll definitely be coming back to Portsmouth and to the Cellars... good night folks! | ||||

| hi all I wanted to do one last hurrah in London before I go back to the states to actually attend to my american release. So I was looking for a chance to do something really intimate and The Enterprise said they had this headlining spot free on thursday So I grabbed it. the Enterprise is a really cozy room where I played my first headline show in London. | Leeds Brudenell Social Club – Jan 29th Today started off in a nice way, I felt rested and went to the Leeds University to play a live session and interview with the student radio. The session went great, the folks there were really cool and sweet, I felt good. I got to the Brudenell which is a funky venue I really like . It's a proper social club and has a real charm. I was all up to play a great set but after going onstage to play my first song there was suddenly blaring feedback on the guitar. I'm usually not that thrown but my sound onstage sounded like a bad LSD trip and I just couldn't get out of my head. I felt slightly disembodied up there. Not in a good way. I wanted to connect with the crowd but found it hard to reach out, feeling awkward my mind took over and shouted harsh criticisms at every note. I don't usually have these kind of shows and perhaps it was mostly in my head but it was hard going and not anything I would label as transcendent. Hopefully I've got this out of my system.
