| Roewe's W2 concept unvieled as the 550: http://www.chinacartimes.com/2008/01... Obviously this is not directly related to Rover but it shows what could have been the Rover 55 if SAIC had supported MG Rover as they promised they would My initial thoughts are that it looks quite Lexus-like, which is a bad thing.. | News: 3000rmb off an MG7, Longbridge site to begin redevelopment | 695 giorni fa | |||
| MG7 discounts China Car Times reports that the MG7 is already reduced- over-ambitous pricing to start with perhaps? http://www.chinacartimes.com/2007/12... £500 million revamp for Longbridge http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/w... Why was the money not put in sooner? According to our own sources, parts of the site need to have 100 metres of soil removed if it's going to be used for anything other than car production- making that the only viable business. The first signs are showing that manufacturing is moving back to Britian, thanks to increasing transport costs and eastern workers demanding better pay and working conditions. There's hope for Longbridge yet.. | ||||

| News: Roewe's TCV, Chinese Police testing the NAC-MG TF | 704 giorni fa | |||
| Roewe's TCV China Car Times reports on the RoeweCross, which has a certain resemblence to Rover's Tourer Concept Vehicle: http://www.chinacartimes.com/2007/12... Chinese Police trialling the NAC-MG TF! http://www.chinacartimes.com/2007/12... NAC-SAIC Merger Details of Nanjing's and SAIC's Merger: http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/news20... This is of course a very interesting merger as it will mean that the companies formerly competing with their own versions of the RDX10 are now the same. BCA sell-off British Car Auctions' sell-off of some of the last unregistered MG Rover cars happened today, the Rover 75 V8 (£16,000) and Rover 75 Limousine (£13,400) were both sold to A E Wilcox & Sons, a Gloucester-based Rover dealer since the 1930s. The MG TF was sold to MGF/TF Specialists Church Square Autos of Shepperton for £11,000. MINI Crossman A MINI 'Crossover' has been confirmed, codenamed the R60 (notice MINI still use Rover's 'R' numbering system rather than BMW's 'E', a system that dates from when Rover were developing the R59 MINI [the one launched in 2001]), and to be called the MINI Crossman. This suggests there may have been trademark problems with using the Moke name, or possibly the Crossman is to fit in with the Clubman. Cock-ups and communication problems The BBC recently reported that a car crash in Northern Ireland had involved a Morris Marina- this was later corrected to Vauxhall Meriva! In case we don't report back with any news before Tuesday, we'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us at the Bebo MG Rover and Austin Club. | ||||

| News: More on JLR sale, the last Longbridge Rovers sold, and a Hydragas Forum | 716 giorni fa | |||
| JLR Sale More news on Ford's sale of JLR (Jaguar and Land Rover, including the Rover brand) today as A-R's Clive Goldthorp reports: http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/news20... Also on the above link is information about a sale of three top-of-the-range last-of-line MG Rover cars that have been stored since 2005 and are now being auctioned. Would you be interested in a Hydragas forum? Many Austin-Rover enthusiasts are intruiged by Alex Moulton's clever interconnected suspension systems, Hydrolastic and Hydragas, but is there a market for a forum, with technical help and discussion about how the system worked and could be improved? That's what The Hydragas Register is asking- please vote in the poll at http://www.hydragas.co.uk If you haven't heard of it before, The Hydragas Register is an index of garages and individuals offering a pump-up service for Hydrolastic and Hydragas cars- worth a visit if you own an MGF, Metro, or any other of the 60s and 70s cars that rode on the systems. | ||||

| When do you think the parts supply will end? | 718 giorni fa | |||
| As most of you may have noticed, getting that certain part you need seems to be getting a slight bit more difficult every day. I know that when I’m looking for a certain part, I go straight to eBay, where I find myself bidding on things here, there, and everywhere. You try finding a set of plain or Austin badged centre caps for the Cheesegrator alloy wheels. The last set that was sold on eBay went for the stupidly high price of £40. And if you think that is bad, one of the last New Pepper Pot centre caps, went for a whopping £110! It really is madness. But what really gets on my nerves, is trying to find a wing for my 1983 Metro, and XPart go and scrap the last batch of Metro wings When I first heard about this another forum member mentioned that a full restoration would prove difficult parts-wise, which is so true when you consider you can basically build a whole new MGB or Mini, As the parts for them are readily available. But why the Mini & MGB? I know they are popular classics, but how long does it take for people to realise that cars like the Metro, Maestro, Montego need saving now before they have all disappeared. But this is where people like Sean & Mal come into things. Both Sean & Mal rent a few barns. In those barns they have accumulated parts from closing MGR dealerships, or eBay, etc. In my opinion that is a brilliant plan. If people like them didn’t bother to clear Ex-Dealerships then the parts would no doubt have been scrapped or thrown away. Being the Parts Secretary for the Triumph Acclaim & Rover 213/216 Owners Club, I know how hard it is finding someone who actually has parts that I can put into the Data base. I do not even have a Data base for the SD3 213/216, it is that hard. I also have another plan. I think it would be a good idea for several people in a club to all chip in and rent a barn, and pick up parts here and there. This would make it a lot easier for the Club to gain parts for their members. Going back to the original Question ("When do you think the parts supply will end?"). I think that by the end of next year we will not be able to get anything for our cars anymore, if something does pop up on eBay, it will no doubt sell for a stupidly high price. If you have any other ideas then feel free to comment the MG Rover and Austin Club Bebo page, or Email me at mailto:lee_2kay6@hotmail.co.uk | ||||
