| DIMMU BORGIR: 'DARK FORTRESS' PREVIEW BOOK TO BE AVAILABLE AT WIZARD WORLD PHILADELPHIA Terminal Press has secured some prime real estate at the Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con this June 19th-21st at booth #1000 and will be celebrating with an exclusive "DIMMU BORGIR: Dark Fortress" preview book. Terminal Press, in association with Nuclear Blast, had previously announced the "DIMMU BORGIR: Dark Fortress" preview book that will be available at the Nuclear Blast booth (#116) at this year's San Diego Comic Con. Today, Terminal Press announced that they will, in fact, have a separate Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con Exclusive version that will be ready to make a surprise debut at this weekend's convention. The book contains a thirteen page first-look preview of the title along with pin-ups and covers which are exclusive to this edition. This will be an extremely limited run and will be available on a first come, first served basis: no pre-orders or reserve tickets are available. The book's writer, Brian Ferrara, and artist Narek Gevorgian will be at the Terminal Press booth for signings, sketches, and to field any questions about their newest project. "DIMMU BORGIR: Dark Fortress" utilizes the artistic vision and lyrical themes of the biggest black metal band in the world, DIMMU BORGIR, to create a powerful and thought-provoking fantasy horror comic book. Terminal Press and Nuclear Blast Records have teamed up for one of the most brutal comics of the year with "Dimmu Borgir: Dark Fortress." This is the first in a series of books influenced by the lyrical, artistic and musical concepts from Nuclear Blast’s polarizing roster of bands translated into the comic medium by the creative teams at Terminal Press. Three reluctant men are chosen to quest to the Dark Fortress in a desperate attempt to protect their land from a growing evil. Despite a legend warning that the harsh land built upon lava fields is actually the gateway to Hell, they make their way across the treacherous path, encountering horrors, madness and death along the way. The three men will either survive the journey and learn the secret behind the legend of the Dark Fortress, or meet a most gruesome demise. "Dimmu Borgir: Dark Fortress" utilizes the artistic vision and lyrical themes of the biggest Black Metal band in the world, DIMMU BORGIR, to create a powerful and thought-provoking fantasy horror comic book. | Silenoz and Galder of Norway’s DIMMU BORGIR have worked with ESP Guitars to create the latest additions to the company’s LTD Signature Series line: the LTD Okkultist and the LTD Shadow. Silenoz comments on his signature LTD Okkultist: “We’ve both had our customs for almost 2 years now. We’ve played them on the last couple of tours and they’re fucking awesome. They can withstand the amount of rape the road give them as well, which, of course, is a very important thing! The locations of the inlay, pick-ups, volume knobs and toggle switches, they were to our exact specifications. And I mean exact in every sense of the word. That’s why it was a pleasure to finally play it once it was done… realizing it was exactly what I had asked for and imagined it to be like. The playability, the shape and look, not to mention the sound & response/attack it gives with those bad ass pick-ups and it being a string-through body guitar! My model has a mahogany body, maple neck with an ebony fingerboard, 42 mm standard nut, thin U neck contour, 22 XJ frets, black nickel hardware, ESP locking tuners, Tonepros locking TOM, Seymour Duncan Metal AHB-2 (B) / AHB-1 (N) active pick-ups, and a metallic, deep red burgundy finish. People will know the presence of this monster. Once they try it, it’ll be self explanatory. It’s the arsenal from the abyss!” Galder checks in about his LTD Shadow: “When we decided to [work with ESP], it all went pretty fast and it all happened within a few months. I have different ideas for guitars, so at the end of the day, I had to decide which direction to take spec- and finish-wise, so I got all I wanted. I have a mahogany body and a maple neck with ebony fingerboards. At first I wanted to go crazy with the design, but at the last moment [I] decided to calm it down a bit. DIMMU BORGIR/ex-VADER drummer Dariusz "Daray" Brzozowski took first place in the "Rock Metal" category in Poland's largest drum magazine, Top Drummer. Daray played his final concert with VADER on August 30, 2008 as part of the band's 25-year anniversary show at Stodola Club in Warsaw, Poland. The gig, which was sold out, also featured performances from GRAVE, ROTTING CHRIST, DISMEMBER, GOREFEST, MARDUK, NILE, ENTOMBED and SAMAEL. In a late 2008 interview with Metal-Rules.com, DIMMU BORGIR guitarist Silenoz was asked how he would you rank Daray against all the other drummers the Norwegian black metal band has worked with over the years. "I would say that he is the most steady and consistent drummer I've ever played with, no matter what," he replied. "He's extremely reliable, hard-working, determined and he really, really pushes himself, you know? Even if he plays a really killer show and the rest of us have nothing to complain about, he still is not happy. It's not good enough. That's the attitude we need, you know? | LANDS ON TOP MUSIC VIDEO CHARTS! Date Posted: 2008-10-28 19:55:58 The Invaluable Darkness, a three-disc release of two DVDs with a bonus audio CD from Norway’s symphonic black metal band DIMMU BORGIR, has sold over 1,400 copies in the U.S. since its October 14th release, debuting at no. 5 on the Nielsen SoundScan “Top DVD Music Videos” chart. The top four artists on the chart are (in order): AC/DC, ZZ Top, Eagles, and John Mayer. The Invaluable Darkness has also entered the Music DVD chart in the band's home country at position No. 1. Indie Distrubution, which distributes DIMMU BORGIR releases in Norway, told Norway's music industry magazine Faro Journalen that it felt pretty comfortable that the DVD would reach the top of the chart. "Yes, we expected it," Espen Solheim Røhne, sales manager at Indie Distribution, admitted. "There are few bands out there that have the same following in Norway as DIMMU BORGIR, and their fans are always early in the shops to buy their product." Røhne told Faro Journalen that the company shipped 2,500 copies of the DVD sets to Norwegian retailers. "We hope to reach 5,000 by Christmas," he said. This marks the second time DIMMU BORGIR has landed at No. 1 in Norway. The band's most recent album, In Sorte Diaboli, topped the chart upon its release in 2007. Checking in from Danzig’s Blackest Of The Black tour is DIMMU BORGIR guitarist Silenoz: “Everything’s going well. We’re happy with the tour, and to get this news… [pause]… It’s cool that the fans appreciate that we came out with this DVD now. It seems that this was what they wanted and we gave it to them. | Having conquered Canada, the DIMMU BORGIR cavalcade headed south, first stop the Trocadero, a century old burlesque house in downtown Philadelphia. Mid-afternoon and the Norwegians have already succumbed to the Eastern time zone, asleep right up until our scheduled 2 pm interview. Sporting a black eye and double loop nose ring, both recent additions (although not all of his own choosing), guitarist Silenoz is thrilled to be on the road in North America again. “To be honest, it’s more exciting to tour here than Europe. Not because it’s less atmospheric in Europe, but it’s always cool to try to break new ground. You see the differences more here. There are strong pockets and less strong pockets, whereas Europe is pretty consistent. It’s a challenge. You want to see what has happened since the last time. In Europe, you can only do so much, unless you get a big support slot, like for SLAYER or something.
