| Statement from Kodiak - 31/01/09 | 296 days ago | ||
| After four-and-a-bit years, Gianni, Steve, Dave and Richard have decided to call time on Kodiak. We've been having long discussions about things over the past few months, and have finally decided that Kodiak has run its course. We'd like to thank each and every person who came to a gig, enjoyed any of our songs and supported us along the way, making it such an enjoyable ride. Over the past four years we've made some really good friends and enjoyed many good nights - we hope to stay in touch with all of you. We'll all continue to make music, just not in the same band (well, in "this" band at least...) and not under the name Kodiak. We'll keep everyone up to date on everyones latest projects. Kodiak died on Saturday, January 31st 2009, at around 7pm in the Butterfly and the Pig on Bath Street, Glasgow. It's been a blast. http://www.kodiakweb.co.uk | |||

| So, what's going on with Kodiak then? | 859 days ago | ||
| www.kodiakweb.co.uk All this talk of new EP’s, and nothing yet, I hear you shout! Well, Dave’s here to fill you all in on what’s really going on in Kodiakworld. “Yup - seems like an eternity since we’ve been promising this “new EP” to the world doesn’t it? Well, November 2006, to be precise. Artwork was all designed and name chosen too….. It’s been a difficult period for Kodiak all things considered - not least me disappearing for large chunks of the past year due to my new status as “Dad” to Aidan Baloyi Quinn (born Feb 25th!), but we’ve not been lying idle. In fact, we have spent alot of time recording recently. Thanks to a few students at the Glasgow School of Audio Engineering, we did actually lay down a total of five tracks in the first part of this year (Open Eyed, Tearblind, Downtime, Shatter & Clusterfuck). Two of them got completed at the time, and we still have the raw material of 3 others, but to be honest the songs have changed a bit since we originally recorded the parts, so we’re not too keen on releasing them in their current format. They’ll probably surface at some point on a “demo” release, but it certainly won’t be a standard Kodiak EP. Then, last month, we returned to our normal producer, Simon Johnston at Urban Studios, to record a new “single” entitled “Swim“. Whilst we’re much happier with this, there are still a few tweaks we want to get done before it’s unleashed on the general public - which is probably a matter of a few hours more in the studio, but it’s getting the time that’s difficult, added to the fact that Steve is currently on holiday in Philadelphia, and you can see why there’s a delay! Good news is (well, hopefully FANTASTIC news) that we are hoping to secure some funding soon that will allow us to record, at the very least, a mini-album’s worth of stuff very soon. Really excited about that, and as I say, hopefully all will be revealed soon. Meantime, we’ve got a gig in Paisley confirmed for August, and it’s looking like we’ll be back in Glasgow at the Classic Grand in September - so not too long to wait for another Kodiak fix!” So, to sum up, things are happening - just not as quickly as we’d like them to. Hopefully have something ready soon, but meantime, the Podcast is probably the best place for some Kodiak related entertainment and gossip! | |||
