| TAE are done | 9 giorni fa | |||
| .. .. .. .. .. .. .... Hey everyone, .... As the title suggests, TAE have officially shut up shop. We’ve been at this for two years, and had the opportunity to play with some of our favourite bands. We’ve played all over the country and made some great friends along the way, and for that we are all extremely grateful. Unfortunately, we just couldn’t keep it going. .... Thanks to everyone that came to see us these last few years, and to those who bought a cd or a t-shirt, you made all this worthwhile! Thanks to the venues who put up with us, especially the Quad and Baker’s Place, who let us annoy their clientele and staff on a regular basis! To Mitch and Dave at Livewire, we wouldn’t have been the same band without you guys. Thanks to Ross O Donovan at Data Recording Studios, and to Eoin and James at Hive Studios, for giving us the chance to record our songs and then making them sound good! Thanks must go to our families as well, who put up with us practicing, and helped us out when we needed it, and who generally supported us when we skipped college to traverse the country in a van! .... We are privileged to have been a part of the Cork music scene, the wealth of talent in this small city is overwhelming. Thanks to Burn Us Both, Elk, Jezery, Hope Is Noise, Joe Rubix, Hooray for Humans, KVX, Sideproject, Machismo, I’ll Eat Your Face, Altruism and everyone for allowing us grace a stage with you, and to bands like Rest and 10past7 who we’ve not played with but who are a constant inspiration. There are countless more bands who we’ve seen, or heard of in Cork and around the country in general that have completely blown us away. We had great fun playing with ye and listening to your music. .... We have put up a new song up online so please listen. Soon enough, everything we’ve recorded will be available to download for free! Yeah! .... None us of are finished with music by a long shot. Keep an eye out for us in new bands in the future! .... It’s been fun, All the best. .... Barry, Cian, Jon, Steve, Frank. | The Quad and Cyprus Avenue | 250 giorni fa | |||
| As anyone that was there may have noticed, we didn't play the Quad with Heathers and Hooray For Humans tonight. We apologise if anyone was disappointed by this, but we were unable to play. We have also had to pull out of the Suede Halo ep launch tomorrow in Cyprus Avenue unfortunately. Again, our apologies to Suede Halo and anyone else. These two gigs were to be our last before a small break, in which we hope to write a lot, work out some kinks in our current set, and hopefully record. We'll hopefully be back gigging soon. | Belfast Calling Review | 259 giorni fa | |||
| We got a nice review off Belfast underground publication and ezine Belfast Calling. Sound! "First track, 'Pistols at Dawn, Sir' is a brilliant opening track as it's passionate, muscially and vocally, and is quite heavy but at the same time, if you listen carefully, you can hear snyths in the background which calm it down a little bit.There are some vocals which are verging on screamo near the end of the song, and this adds to the passion. Second track, 'Mentalied Matics' starts off slower but builds up and then dies down again at the end, reminding me of old school Lost Prophets. Next track, 'History Is Made At Night', reminds me of the alternative rock bands I would go to see play when I was fifteen and loved because they really cared about the music they were playing, and because all the riffs and rhythms fitted together perfectly,. Final track, 'The Beys' is again quite a strong track, with the addition of more vocals that are verging on screamo that grab your attention. There also seems to be some sort of hidden track at the end which has gorgeous melodies and soft vocals that don't take over the peaceful music. Overall, this is an epic EP, so you should definitely make sure to purchase a copy and check out The Avalanche Effect." Belfast Calling, Feb 09 | ||||

| Whaz On mis-print and All-Ages gig | 260 giorni fa | |||
| Hi guys, Just noticed that Whaz On magazine have us down as playing The Quad this Friday, the 13th of March. This is a mis-print, as Snowman are playing that night. Ourselves, Heathers and Hooray for Humans are on the following Friday, the 20th. And it's an early start gig, with first band on at 9. On another note, we're playing Cyprus Avenue on the afternoon of Saturday the 21st March in support of the release of Suede Halo's EP. Do come. Haven't done an all-ages in a good while. Thanks, TAE | ||||

| The Quad, Dublin, 2008. | 340 giorni fa | |||
| We're just off the back of a pretty hectic weekend, but a very enjoyable one! Firstly, thanks to Elk and the Quad for Friday night, we hadn't played Cork since mid-October so it was really good fun! Cheers to Keith for doing a great job with the sound, and for his MacGuiver impersonation when fixing the PA! And also thanks to everyone that came to see us, we went on stage earlier than expected so it was a huge relief to see a crowd! We hope that our Christmas hats brought some festive joy too! Elk were excellent, the new stuff sounds epic!!! Can't wait to finally get a hard copy of their album, which they're releasing in Cyprus Ave at the end of January. Saturday night saw us in Dublin with the indescribable MikeGotSpiked. Fibber Magees is by far the hottest stage we've ever played! Thanks to everyone who saw us, had nice things to say, and were just generally sound! It makes the long trek worth it! Unfortunately MojoFURY had to pull out, as their singer had his tonsils removed, but cheers to Fading Grey for filling in on such short notice! For a band that haven't played together in 2 years they put on some show! MikeGotSpiked were terrifyingly, jaw-droppingly good. They played an hour and a half of pure class. The new songs sound fantastic, and they are releasing one of them for free download on Christmas Day. Go to their myspace to download it, you honestly won't regret it. We are still trying to sort a date in Cork for the lads in February, before they head back to continue conquering America, you should not miss them! This weekend marked our last shows of 2008. We played about 40 gigs this year all over the country. This has been a really enjoyable year for us, and hopefully a good base from which we can improve upon next year! We released an ep, toured the country with Burn Us Both (MESSFEST!!), met some amazing people, played with some of our favourite bands, racked up some huge mileage on our van already, and just generally had a laugh! Thanks to Mitch and Dave at Livewire, without whom we'd not be the same band; to Ross O Donovan for recording, mixing and mastering our ep, we'll definitely be back; to Dave Ahern for all his help and work with us, it's hugely appreciated; to Cars In Walls (RIP), Altruism, Suede Halo, Dirty Fix, KVX and Elk for making our ep launch the success it was; to Burn Us Both for one of the best weeks of our lives, and for the ep launch; to all the venues that put up with us and to all the promoters that helped us out, especially the now closed Whiskey, RIP; and finally to anyone that bought a cd or TAE-shirt, came to a gig, came up and chatted to us, downloaded a song online, or even just visited our page, thank you. Our next show will be in Bakers Place, Limerick, with Belfast instrumental geniuses ...And So I Watch You From Afar at the end of January. We're then back in Bakers with Side Project and Machismo on February 5th, before finally playing Cork again on February 6th with the amazing This Town Needs Guns, from Oxford. We're hoping to hit a few shows around the country with Side Project, bring down MikeGotSpiked, continue to write new songs, and maybe record a new cd at some point next year! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. TAE | ||||

| The Avalanche Effect have emerged as guitarists Barry Ronayne and Jon Pearson, Frank O Connell on bass, singer Steve Geaney and Cian Heffernan behind the drums. The initial concept was formed late into 2006 when ideas were knocked around but the band was at this stage instrumental. Steve joined in early 2007 to complete the outfit. Progress was made, slowly at first with the band preferring the confines of The Cottage to write and develop their music. Good friends have been made and some interesting support slots were played. Amongst them: Fight Like Apes, Hooray For Humans, Terrordactyl and English bands Tubelord and Blakfish on their March '08 Irish Tour. We recorded with the superb Ross O Donovan in Data Recording Studios, Kerry. The results, an e.p. called "Do You Think They Can Hear Us?" is on sale in Plugd Records, Roxy Records or at a gig! Cheers. TAE | ||||

| BLAKFISH | 415 giorni fa | |||
| Blakfish, the Birmingham band who we've been lucky enough to play with in the past and who were here only recently with Tubelord, have had their gear stolen. At a charity gig, ironically enough. They were planning on hitting Seattle to record their album, but this has severly set them back. Read their blog, link below, for more information. Any help you can give them would be massively appreciated. TAE http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?f... | ||||
