Icarus have finished their debut EP!!

It contains six tracks, all written by Icarus - Hands Made For Arms, Touch, Sunday, Tides, Carpe Diem and Midnight.

It hasn't got a name - we'd like YOU to name it individually, whatever you feel works.

It hasn't got a set price - we'd like to pay as much or as little as you like, whatever you feel it's worth. (Thank you, Radiohead...)

You can get your hands on a copy of the EP as soon as we start producing them. Start shotgunning now!

love to all

An EP almost finished, Icarus almost back to the sesh house and 3 gigs almost upon us...717 giorni fa

Well according to bebo it's been 47 days since we posted a blog entry, so here's the latest news from the Ic camp.

As you probably know from our constant spamming and advertising, we've been working on an EP. Our debut release, we want to make it as damn sexy as we can, and working on a very tight schedule it has taken, admittedly, a little longer than we hoped. HOWEVER, it's so close to release now! Just got to record/rerecord some vocals, then have a fat day of mixing, then mastering and its ready :D We've had to do all the work ourselves, due to having limited cash to chuck at a studio, but have spent literally days getting all the songs sounding as great as we can, and we think the results are pretty awesome. Expect it to go for about a quid (to cover our costs), some time during Xmas.

Cos we've been focusing all our efforts on the EP, we haven't had a chance to pluck a single note in the sesh house since our last band practice which was.........................fooking ages ago (before the latest forum show :S). But that won't be for long, since alongside these final stages of EP-creation we hope to get together at least twice before the end of the year. There are so many (too many?!) great new ideas flying around now, and as soon as we can get working on them together you will start hearing new, hopefully even better, things from Icarus.

Speaking of hearing Icarus, who's coming to 'Sexy Action New Year' on the 5th of January? You are? Good! It'll be our one year anniversary don't ya know, and we can guarantee our support set is gonna be a treat for you all :P It should be full of surprises, as we're in the process of planning our half hour to represent the evolution of the band over its first year, which means we will be playing some new stuff you have NEVER heard before. Yeh that's right, it's so new it's not even appearing on the EP.Then after that we've got the Judd Band Showcase in early 08 (january maybe?) which promises to be our biggest gig yet, and the Judd Stars In Their Eyes competition, which should be a laugh. Oh yeh, and a little thing called The Stable 7 second round, which we should be getting a place in after your awesome support in round one. Cheers!

So basically, get our EP (constantly hassle the band members over the next few weeks and we'll put one aside especially for you), come to our gigs next year, and prepare for a final 8 months of sweet as, dance-till-you-vomit, rave-like-a-spastic, energy-filled audio jizz from your friends at the Ic ;) You heard me right: 8 months, then we're finished. Uni will call, we will part ways, and Icarus will be no more.....

But holy sex-monkeys are those 8 months gonna be INSANE!

Plates!

All!

TWO MASSIVE UPDATES:

As you may have noticed, the band picture has changed to the winning picture of the New Band Photo Competition!! The winner was MISS KATHRYN FRANKS, hard-core Ic fan and aspiring photographer. As promised, she wins herself a refund of her ticket to the gig, a copy of the upcoming EP, and (naturally) undying love from the Ic lads!! Well done her. High fives all round!

The "old" year 13 bands that we so sadly said goodbye to in October time, as they all went their separate ways, are planning to keep Christmas spirits high with huge reunion gigs! Confirmed so far is Sexy Christmas News, with Sexy Action News headlining, Matt Bishop as support and.. Icarus! Yes, you'eard. We at Ic are honoured to be asked to play with the lads, and we hope you'll come show your apprecation for a night of sweet music. To be fair, anyone that hasn't heard SAN's EP should die. Now. Also being murmured about is a big Afflicted Quarter headlining gig around Xmas time - we'll keep y'all posted on that one.

Hope that satisfies ya!

Icarus' UK tour suffers its first cancellations...777 giorni fa

Unfortunately, due to clashes with studio dates, ill health within the band, issues with the tour bus and people named Brian sitting on my hat AGAIN, Icarus have had to cancel two of their upcoming gigs.

These dates: 12th of October at Weald Girls Grammar and 17th of October at The Tunbridge Wells Forum, were to continue the band's tour of the UK (Kent to be exact. Tonbridge/Tunbridge Wells to be precise.) to promote their unnamed but highly anticipated EP. Release of said EP is expected to be some time in the next month after band bassist James "Fitz" FitzGerald was heard to say "It'll be out once i've finished these 72 beers and had all your mums" in a recent interview with NME.

Despite the disappointing announcement of these tour cancellations, the band have insisted that "We will be back rocking your socks soon, and with some new material and passionate animal-touching-related lyrics." Many speculate that camel-touching will be the key issue being raised through vocal artist Tom "Corb" Corbett's lyrics, when images of him "inappropriately fondling" camels were leaked online last week.

Icarus also reported that they will be appearing at The Judd School in Tonbridge (date unknown) for the school's 'Stars In Their Eyes' competition. Who they will appear as is so far unconfirmed, but likely possibilities "Craig David", "Crazy Frog" and "a thousand Vietnamese children in rags" are being discussed on the forums.

New Band Photo Competition!! 794 giorni fa

Hello all!

If you've been paying close attention (because we've havn't publicised it enough...) you may have noticed that we are playing at the Forum next Monday, 1st October, in the Stable! Woooooo! You may also have noticed another more harrowing detail on these pages... the band picture is a bit old and, well, inaccurate! Despite Fitz being in the band for a long while now, we've been working so hard on the music that we've havn't taken a new picture of ourselves!

So this here is the Grand Unveiling of... The New Icarus Band Photo Competition! Yes yes yessity yes, there will be many a photo op at the upcoming gig, and we put it to you, the great unwashed, to snap a winning pic of the band using whatever photo apparail you have to hand! The judging will take into account the impressiveness of the pic, interesting angles, contempory lighting schemes, and just how flattering/embarassing the shot is for members of the Ic.

And what do you win, I hear you ask? Well now, since you'll have kindly attended the gig to take said picture, you'll be FULLY REFUNDED your admission price! A whole £4! Ok, so there's more... The winner will also receive a FREE copy of Icarus's next release of recorded material!! (date/tracklist TBA...) All this is besides the credit gained for the pic, the lovin' from the band, and preferential treatment come photo op next time!

I hope that's thoroughly excited you all... I'll see you next monday!

love

Tom

P.S. I'm writing this blog from a internet cafe in Belfest international airport, and as such havn't ran this past the band yet... but I'm sure they'll approve!

Icarus + Edenbridge Arena + Munched's Last Ever Gig = Jizzpants!809 giorni fa

dyetgkuyfgak!!!!!!

Yes, yes, yessity yes people in steeple!

I'm still on the huge high that was... Munched's Last Ever Gig! A time for tears it may have been, but the relentless ace music gave us no chance. The barrage of bands had us jumping like prepubescent girls at a McFly concert, crying into our chips, dancing a stupidly simple but amazingly catchy dance routine, stage invading, but mostly full-on hard-ass rocking out!

Icarus were privelaged to be asked to play 5th on the billing, and did our very best to rock the house! And, without boasting too much, we did an ace job of it, "packing" the hall with punters and making them sing along to Bloc and Rage, and maybe even mumble what they thought were the words to our own songs! Those who were there would agree that it was a storming night, not one band below par. Thanks to all that played, and all that came to watch!

For those who weren't there, you missed an amazing night, and you are now being officially guilt tripped! You WILL come on MONDAY 1ST OCTOBER (put it into your diaries now) to see ICARUS play at the FORUM. Got that? We will tear the place apart just for you, and maybe, just maybe, with your help, we'll make it to the next round. Details soon.

See you there.

love

Tom

For those you have any clue what this means, yay!
For those who don't, it basically means we'll be playing at the Tunbridge Wells Forum a few times this year, in a nutshell. No, we won't be playing inside a nutshell........although that's a freakin awesome idea.........well suggested.

So come see us, bring friends, and back us up so we can get through the first couple of rounds!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay *is far too overexcited*

Any of you still waiting for this news?849 giorni fa

Hello!!

For those of you that still cling to the past, or just never got the opportunity to experience the musical genius that was MASHED POTATO, a VERY LIMITED stock of their second and final album

MASH IS FOR LIFE, NOT JUST FOR DINNER

has been uncovered (at the back of a dusty cupboard)!! It'll cost you the low, low price of £4 (plus p&p) for 9 whole classic tracks! If you think we could put any more of a hard-sell on this album, you'd be wrong! If you fancy getting your grubby mitts on a copy, wing your request to

touch-of-flame@hotmail.co.uk

and we'll reply with the details of how to get one. I stress now, the supplies are very limited! But if enough of you devoted fans make requests, we might be persuaded to go back into production, so all you lucky people can have one.

love to all,

Icarus

As promised, there is now a new vid up of us playing Touch at a sesh! Also, as promised, we have a new demo on here of a brand new, fresh from writing, song, which now forms the third of Icarus' growing repertoire. You might be surprised by how different it is from both Carpe Diem and Touch :P

We're also working on two ideas from studio del Corb, one of which will debut at the coming party gig on the 29th of august. So basically, we're writing again so life is good :D

Love to all
